CECAA850
More power to you guys for helping out with your mother. Some kids want to just wash their hands of the situation, it makes me sick. When my parents were in their last years, they would tell my wife and I we were doing too much for them. I told them that they did too much for me when I was little and not to worry about it. Hopefully your work is picking up and you'll have your engine in soon!
akdave
Wow MKP! More power to you all! Deadbeat siblings are maddening in the hour of need. Keep doing the right thing, you will never regret it.
billybob
Lol, yes those beds are heavy as all get out for sure. Having that metal and actuator feel like a ton. Having those adjustments though can come in real handy for Mom's comfort. They can get a workout, like a liftchair. The Boss, by getting things off of her chest has to feel maybe just a little better. Everyone is different when it comes to taking care of loved ones. For me, it was my mother and me her youngest so... My mom got UTI's sometime. It would make her dizzy, due to the fever. She fell once due to this, while under my care. Her recovery was slow as she was stoveup from the fall. There are those few I found that were willing to help. There has to be a will to help. It is already somewhat stressful taking care of a cherished one, so sometimes letting the stress out in whatever form works, is a real good thing. Very good job and salutes to you three.MKP/Boss/daughter!

Moderators dtel Posted April 18, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 18, 2016 Good for you MKP and your boss, I know how you two feel I watched my mom for her last few years, later on you will be glad you did. We promised her she wouldn't go in a home and she didn't. she got to see us and the grand kids everyday, about the only time she got upset was when she thought she was burden on everyone. It's very important to not them feel that way. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone take care of you when you can't do it anymore, it's not like they have a choice at that point.
Rivervalleymgb
Retired and took care of my father for a couple of years. He decided to go to assisted living and I went back to work. He will be 90 this July. Judy and I had to take his "girlfriend" Sunday to Cracker Barrel for lunch. Did it a little different this time. We came back to Alma and met up with my son. It had been awhile since he was able to see one of his grandsons, so the extra drive was worth it. At least he got to make out with his girlfriend in the back when we drove her back to Dover. I try to check only my side mirrors when that is going on....
GWSmith
Good morning my friends.......... Just checked through the mail since my concert postings from Saturday.... I hear and feel for everyone that has had issues with family and loved ones. Most have similar stories, but I won't go into my own My focus now is the Los Vegas concert coming up this Saturday night at the 'Suncoast' hotel/casino... We had our last 'dress rehearsal' last night and we are pretty much ready to dig into this thing. For sure, the most important concert we have EVER put on.. I know I should probably think about visiting the 'Boulevard' but, I am so intent on getting through this very taxing (mentally) show that I will probably just stay 'in house'... mind you, everything I need is right where we are staying. Counted 10 restaurants just down the hall from my room !!!!!! Also, all our keyboard gear will arrive Thursday morning, and since the concert venue is also down the hall, we will have a rehearsal room for keyboards ONLY. I plan on living in there pretty much, staying focused. dTel, thanks for those festival photos. I was noting that band 'The Top Cats' and thought, good, all playing from memory. BUT, then I noticed all the front line were reading music off their IPADS !! Our show is 32 songs, with a huge amount of nuance for us keyboardists (lots of piano and symphonic arrangements) and EVERY BIT from memory for all 9 of us So, just like the classical musicians and soloists, I will be focusing heavily during downtime. Today, (a day before we fly from Boston to Vegas) the boss gave me this day off to get myself ready. Yesterday he said some nice things, and realized how important this show is, and the last 6 months of rehearsals for it. Just yesterday, we heard that it will be broadcast world wide over the internet!!! Am I nervous yet? Ok, sorry for the 'musicans' rant But, I will have my laptop with me and will keep you all informed as it goes, photos WILL be included for you and if anyone is interested in viewing the concert LIVE, I can see about sending the URL to you.. Thanks for reading, enjoy your day everyone... One last mailing tomorrow before heading out. .......Gary PS. Thanks for the likes on the Berlin concert... I am sure enjoying my time watching them and sharing the moment with you all Edited April 19, 2016 by Tigerman
Tarheel
Morning folks Talked with Chuck via a pm. He has been ailing with a kidney problem so he has been inactive here for a bit. I told him we hope he is on the mend. Having a problem with my Samsung refrigerator freezing up and making an annoying noise. Made an appointment with a tech for tomorrow. Decided to clean it in preparation for the visit. I think I had the doors open long enough for it to thaw as the noise has stopped for now And to anticipate Carl's question....no it wasn't THAT dirty. You have been busy Gary.....keep it up and continued best wishes for the show (s).

MKP'S BOSS
THAT comes with a story.... at the beach with my 3 kids and my girlfriend's daughter. just got set up around the pool with the kids. beautiful day. my daughter (was 10) is standing on the diving board and bellows in a BIG voice "IT'S ******** TUESDAY!" the youngest was an infant in her little seat. my girlfriend looks at me and says "STOP HER FROM SAYING THAT AGAIN!!!" thank god i was raised in a loud house, as was my daughter. parents - and people with parents - understand -- we can silence our children INSTANTLY! not a sound was heard.....even the birds stopped chirping.

Moderators dtel Posted April 19, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 19, 2016 dTel, thanks for those festival photos. I was noting that band 'The Top Cats' and thought, good, all playing from memory. BUT, then I noticed all the front line were reading music off their IPADS !! I don't know why, they have been together playing for 25 years, since high school, might be slow learners , but i remember seeing them play before Ipads or cellphones. http://thetopcats.com/chronicles/

oldtimer
Today is pork shoulder Tuesday for me. I have a 9.25 pounder on the smoker. I was going to start early tomorrow morning, but figuring in some other plans, I basically couldn't wait. Fixed the oven with a $18.38 part. The worst part was the obligatory cleaning with the old element out.
Moderators dtel Posted April 20, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 20, 2016 Hey there dTel...........Just read the bios on TC. They are celebrating 33 years !!!!!!!! Watched a couple vids.... They have quite a history together Well that makes more sense, I remember seeing them past 25 years ago and couldn't figure why the site i read said 25 years, apparently where i read was old. We have been married 37 years and I remember seeing them back at all the local places we use to go many years ago. It seems the older you get the harder it is to put a date on things,so many years to sift through but that;s a good thing.
