  1. Good morning all. The Christmas lights are up and sync'd to music that I broadcast on FM. The tree is up and ornaments are hung. It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas here. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays

  2. Morning folks. House is washed! Decorations up. LF leaves for W Va. next Monday for nine days so Jake and I'll do Christmas together. I think Jake wants a rare steak and a longer leash. Does anyone have any experience with a product called Magic Wood for repairing rot on a window sill? A guy proposes to do the repair with that product...says he has used it before. May have to google it. Bondo doesn't work so well for that I hear. Cheers Ladies and Gents BTW....we need a Santa head emoji.

  5. I hope the boom box is a Klipsch. My 3 personal favorites are: 1) Kona - Hawaii 2) Blue Mountain - Jamaica 3) ORO - Honduras Whole beans "store" longer....just grind when needed. A Keurig works well with an insert for the above as would any other brewer. They smell awesome and taste the same. While I suggest you go to get them from the source first...if not in the budget they can be ordered online.

  6. The only Magic Wood I've heard of is an elixir not meant for the type of wood rot you mention! Don't ask how I know-----?

  7. I received and hooked up my Yamaha A-S501 today. It replaced a Denon DRA697ci. The sound quality of the Yamaha is so much better than the Denon. I don't know if it is a fluke, but the Denon was like listening through a closed window. The sound difference blew me away. I really thought that you couldn't go wrong with Denon, but that DRA 697 sucks. It is lifeless on the high and lows; and congested in the mid range. I couldn't stand to listen to my new RP280's until today. I would like to thank Willland for recommending the Yamaha.

  9. Haven't been here lately, busy but catching up, this time of the years is always crazy. We have some friends coming in for a few days starting wed night, and were trying to get all the work done so we can be free through the weekend.

  10. Chuck, try this stuff...kind of like bondo but less messy and you only need water. Just mix up a little at a time. You have a short window of time to shape it...before you know it, it is hard as rock. Really cheap too. Do you have Menards down there? Only $2.38 for a 16 oz can. I have used it to fill rotten logs on my log barn and house. It holds up well. You can either try to put a dye in it to match, or paint it. I have not tried dying it.

  11. Around here, the permit's main function is to raise your property tax when they find out that you made improvements. That's it function everywhere. F them. Sorry I had SO MANY bad experiences when I built my house. Jerk Offs.

  13. You're asking for a humbling experience A1UC. Damn man, go to the doctor and get a physical and blood work. Nothing to it and it cost less than a pair of tubes you sold here a while back. I'm not big on sharing my personal experiences online but I have experienced a triple by-pass and a subsequent heart attack in the last two years. If you want to know what you experience when your heart stops let me know. It's humbling. Life is never sweeter than when you're on the verge of losing it. I care about your life. Make up your mind that you care too friend. Keith

  15. Keep On Keepin' On is an excellent documentary about Clark Terry and others. In addition to great music, the stories are well told. It's available on Netflix, Amazon & iTunes. http://www.keeponkeepinon.com/ Tomorrow would have been Clark Terry's 95th birthday. I first heard of him in the late 60s when he was a member of The Tonight Show band. His legacy is much more than that decade of work.

  23. I think everyone should watch Forks Over Knives A lot of facts about the food we eat. Looks like the amount of protein the gov. has been recommending cause cancer. Seems the food groups we were told to eat was based on helping the meat and poultry industry imagine that..lol. I think it is still on Netflix after watching it I started eating different and lost the 30 lbs I gained after transplant do to drugs. I also bought a rice cooker before watching this mainly because I can not afford the meat and can get rice for less than a 1 dollar pound usually. But turns out I was already 75% vegetarian any way so going to 90 % was easy. Get this the doctors all told me I get the cholesterol of the donors liver.....well I just proved that wrong mine went from 212 right after to 95 now. They also mention this in the video. Just thought I would let you all know about it. Rick

  25. I agree with the above. Get a routine physical and establish a base line. Do the same every year and establish a relationship with your doc. Listen to what he has to say. I started going every year when I hit 40. You'll be glad you did and better off in the long run.

  31. It is not specifically a crime in Texas, as in most states, to gave sex with an animal. Prosecutors are left with having to prosecute the case under the animal cruelty statute. It has long been the subject of jokes and quips at criminal law and law enforcement seminars. To prove their case they have to bring in an expert, usually a veterinarian, to testify that harm occurred to the animal. I don't think consent is ever the issue. This is what happens when you allow goat ropers and sheep hearders in.

  32. You could try one of these in the floorboard. If I lived in a cold climate I'd have one in the vehicle anyway. I have a similar one I've used for camping for many years. Yes, they consume oxygen but very little and even a very small opening of a window will be more than adequate. On minimum heat, it will easily last all night and be just adequate to prevent a freeze even in pretty extreme temps. Dave

  33. Thanks, Twisted, I'll move in with you when I get put out. LOL It took 20 years to get a big screen in the living room. BSEG I started small with my return to audio after 40 years. I started with a pair of Klipsch R15s and there was no objection. Small and fit in next to TV and equipment rack. Bought a pair of R26s for the front and moved the R15s to the rear. Only a raised eyebrow or two and all was good. Unfortunately, my RP280s came while she was home. In any case, they fit where the R26s had been and those were relegated to the basement for a future setup. Got the first grief when I got my first PL200. "How many of these damn boxes are you going to get." Of course I ignored her and got the second PL200. This is why the second PL200 went behind the chair at the back of the room. Really smoothed out the bass and all was good. Now when the R115s came she wasn't home and they quickly took the place of the PL200s. She looked at them and I could tell she knew they were different. No grief, however, no new space lost. "You got to know when to hold 'em." So bottom line, yes, she decides how the public areas will be decorated. Happy wife, happy life. As far as she's concerned I have no aesthetic chops and she will handle that little detail lacking from the male gene. Hey, she paid for the new furniture, and for all the paint and painting. I handle the entertainment, computers and outside. Now I'm angling for a 60" 4K TV and I need to keep that acceptance factor thing going. She's a Luddite and I have to pull her kicking and screaming into this century. Took years for her to even touch one of my computers. Still have my first TRS80 in the attic. She's not going to fuss too much, anyway. I'm home most nights, now, spending my time with a good movie or CD. Far cry from a few years ago when I spent most evenings in the streets. Yes, I'm jealous of those who have carte blanch as far as equipment placement, but we're packed to the gills in this room now. There's only so much you can pack in 12X25. Six 18 inch drivers! I'd have to give up a couch and a chair. Can't believe how much I was missing before I discovered LFE. I've re-watched most of my favorite movies just for the added pleasure. Heck, even the commercials have added pop. "Whipped" Edison (worked for an electric utility for 20 years before I retired)
