  1. Wanted to thank everyone as I have had my Klipsch speakers for about 6 weeks now and they sound amazing. Thank you to everyone who made recommendations and answered questions. Also thank you to those who recommended Mike as Acoustic Sound Design. Just bought the RP-140SA up firing Atmos speakers to complete my 5.1.2 setup. The price he gave me was 30% cheaper than anywhere else I could find. Again thank you to all!

  2. My bathroom remodel is going SLOW! Actually, I think I am the one going slow. Got every thing out of the way. Scraped the popcorn of the ceiling, replumbing for the new tub, shower and fixtures; debating on some new wiring. Actually, I have to rewire some. It is a never ending story rewiring this house. The builder was an idiot. Seems like every house I have not built myself, the builder was an idiot. Of course, other builders thought I was an idiot because I refused to cut corners! Anyway, I have to stop work on it for the next few days. Batesville tonight, Tulsa on Wednesday. At least I get to check on a couple of R2R's I dropped off at Speakerworks a few months ago. A visit with Dave is always entertaining!

End of the month as well, time to hurry up and finish some stuff up at the shop so it can be billed for this month. Coffee is good, had a couple different kcups this weekend. Well got to run. Peace

  6. Morning gang.... Well we didn't make it to moms yesterday.....Once we started the cleaning the house, we just kept rolling with it.....We haven't really done a good cleaning since the passing of The BOSS's dad several weeks ago. The house needed a good blitz.....Hooked up the M400t's to the Chorus ii's.....powered up 3 subs and the cleaning began.....What ever dirt was hiding it got shook loose.... Trinitron........ mmmmmm cheese sandwich and milkshake for dinner.....you go my man.... I had left over Chinese food and Wilbur chocolate buds. My wife picked up the Wilbur buds for me Friday....man there good... Rivervalleymgb.....you go my man.....I tell ya hats off to you guys that do that home remodel thing....I don't do house....I fix car....make money to pay someone for the house thing...I do a few things around the house...but when it comes to a full remodel....ahhhhh not for me... A bit of trivia.....it's Feb 29th leap year day....why do we have leap year? OK enough of my BS...gonna roll....a good leap year day to all.... Here is a pic of a Wlbur bud....mmmmmmmm MKP :-)

  8. It's on the stand. it would be silly not to. Kits are pretty cheap. I unboxed a couple Nelson Pass designed amps I got for Christmas a little while ago. They could use a little work. I was just going to have a look at em..... I hear what your saying Carl.....But if I pull those caps off and all looks good.... back together it goes .... If I pull those caps and I see copper in those bearings then yup a full rebuild .........Even if I don't do a rebuild...It's getting timing belt, water pump all the seals and gaskets... We'll see tomorrow.... Hopefully the "Honda gods" will be with me MKP :-)

  10. Great!! Its Oscar Night, yet again, and the women have driven me off my audio perch. The Oscar crap is utterly unwatchable, yet again, so I'm playing this one in a loop from a tablet with headphones:

  11. Yea I could have posted this in "what I got Today" but this thing is soooo cool I just had to give it it's own thread.... As some of you my know my wife and I own a autoshop. We have had the shop for 17+ years now. I've been a mechanic for close to 34 years now.... I love tools...I love the shiny wrenches all neatly lined up in my tool box. Everything has it's place in my tool boxes. I have two older Mac MB 1700 tool boxes with matching side cabs...all together they measure right about 12' long... I have as much in those boxes as my 1st house cost me back in the early 90's.... and that's not counting the other equipment I have... So really my tool buying days are over....the things I do buy are several hundred dollars a time... I can't spend $700 a week on tools... So I will buy a few new things a year... I've been looking at this thing called "The Mini Ductor"..... It heats nuts and bolts up with no flame. It uses magnetic field to heat the object. It'll get a 14mm bolt cherry red in about 20 seconds. It has different size coils that you put around the bolt or what ever your heating up. It also has a long lead that you can wrap around bearings. It came UPS today.... I opened it up and checked it out....looked really cool. I put it on the bench and figured I would play with it later after I finished the radiator job on this Civic I was working on. Well what do you know, there was a small 10mm bolt that was rusted stuck...It was going to snap off. I hooked up one of the small coils pluged the unit in and pressed the little red button. With in 10 seconds the bolt was smoking....held it there for another 10 seconds and it loosend right up with my wrench. Yea this thing it the shitt... and I got to use it again on the alternater belt adjuster that was frozen up... Hmmmmmmm .....magnetic field.... I wonder I Bob Carver had anything to do with this....lol lol Trying to load pics....give me a minute.. MKP :-)

  19. OMG, I thought this was something I wrote right up till the end. I set my commode base (twice) this weekend. The first tine, the floor flange broke . I noticed it was cracked slightly and warped from over tightening when I pulled it. Just another day in the life of a remodel.

  20. The A7 was the smallest of those called The Voice of the Theater. It had one woofer which was front horn loaded with a supplementary port. They were still gigantic for the home. For real theaters of all but the smallest size, Altec made some other models of Voice of the Theater as large as 4 woofer per channel horn fronted loaded bass bins with the port as well.. Of these, there were models with the front loaded woofers arrayed horizontally, and in other models arrayed vertically. Cinerama's 7 channel sound tended to use 5 big ones (20 woofers in all) behind the screen, and 2 much smaller surround channels with a few speakers on the sides and rear. CinemaScope (4 channels) used 3 big ones behind the screen, with one switchable or automatically triggered surround channel using a few smaller speakers around the theater. Despite all that, I preferred the JBL, equal sized, front horn loaded, 4 woofer boxes generally used in Todd-AO (70 mm with 6 channel sound), forming the 20 woofer, 5 channel, behind the screen system, again with smaller speakers for one switchable/auto triggered surround channel. All of these systems had incredible dynamics and, even though the bass started to roll-off significantly below 40 Hz, great, punchy bass. I did hear several A7s in audio shops and in the stereo recording studio at San Francisco State, as well as in Leo DeGar Kulka's studio in San Francisco. They seemed good, but had rather "steely" upper midrange, and although they advertised their high frequency response as extending to 22K Hz (then 22K cycles per second), they seemed to lack extreme highs. Comparatively, Klipschorns seemed warmer, with highs that seemed more extended and were, if you will, more "golden." I'd pick a Klipschorn over an Altec A7 anytime!

  28. How far are you thinking of going back? I was able to go back more than 400 years on the maternal side of my family by researching parish records from Norway online. I could have gone back even further if I had the time. My 1st male relative recorded as having a child in that parish was a listed as being a Dragon (Dragoon) in the Royal Swedish Army. Although his name was Norwegian I suspect he had been posted elsewhere under Swedish control prior to settling down.

  32. I think that could have been phrased a little better. Yes, I could be a lot more tactful and I am smooth as a corn cobb hear, but that does not stop the fact that it is absolutely the truth and you, I as well as others here know it. I have been biting my tongue here for a while he and that new female member posted about the unfairness of it all without having one single idea of what it was all about. It is time for him to stop the conspiracy theories and the poor picked on Mark when he does not know what it was about? A better way to go Jim would be to PM somebody and ask what it is all about, you might actually learn something!! at 8 years on the forum, I was the youngest member in that mess, and the member who got banned was the oldest member on that thread. Roger New members or prospective new members aren't interested in the soap opera history of this forum. And Klispch the corporation probably really isn't either. If I am a investigating the brand and I find this forum to see who the people are that buy the product and run into THAT thread, what do you suppose my impressions should be? Would this be a place I would want to visit often; sign up to be a member of? About anytime I log on, I can find no more than about 30-35 members signed in and about 80 guests. Most of those members are the same people day after day. Some of them, but not all of them, are members of the 'clique.' Should I wonder about a brand with worldwide appeal with literally millions of customers that hosts an online forum with an active member roster that isn't at least in the hundreds. I can only guess about the why it isn't more and I would definitely include threads such as that as a possible contributing reason. TLDR; this isn't your personal forum to gather and berate a subscribed member. If you have a history that absolutely must be talked about, take it private. You raise a lot of points which involve various issues. One of which is the slow death of forum participation in general. Science says correlation does not imply causation. Everyone is welcome here until they grossly violate the TOS. One such former member did as much plus raised a huge stink, then shows back up pretending to be someone else. That's all it boils down to. It is folly to think that people anywhere any time can congregate whether physically or virtually and not form social bonds. How could anyone with even the most basic human social knowledge expect otherwise? I have seen the stick to the subject/purpose type regulated forums disappear way faster than those that bend for social interaction, with its inevitable pitfalls. I do not forsake personal or even social (especially online) bonds. They are important in the formation of any community. And after all, this is the Klipsch community. But as a new member, I'm keenly aware that the members should first and foremost remember the purpose of the community. Here it is to promote, talk, share, etc., all things Klipsch. I would hope that the most senior members of this community would cherish those ideals more than I. But I'm not sure that as the case. That thread from inception to conclusion was inappropriate. It served no purpose other than to highlight a member who only those who knew the history of could possibly be concerned about. And it was then used as a grade school bathroom for everyone who had a gripe to poke him with a stick. Can you tell me, was that the best face this community can offer to the outside world looking on? 80 or more guests had a front row seat if they wanted it. Worse, the administrator had a stick, too. I assume Chad is a Klipsch employee and as such he should remember why this site exists and what its purpose is for. The thread should have been deleted by a mod the second it was created. Just my opinion. And even when it was appropriately locked, it was unlocked after some 'level-headed' off the books discussion! And lastly I'm curious. If this person is such a pariah why do you 'adults' insist on replying to his posts? Just ignore him, say nothing in response to anything he submits. Certainly there is plenty here for you to focus on instead of him. I'd love to see you contribute more Music/Audio/Klipsch content before taking on the role of Official Forum Moral Compass.

If this person is such a pariah why do you 'adults' insist on replying to his posts? Just ignore him, say nothing in response to anything he submits. Certainly there is plenty here for you to focus on instead of him. Bella, I suggest you take a reality check of online forums. Go sign up on ANY motorcycle forum and start accusing members and moderators of being unfair and in a clique, and I guarantee you that you will be directly attacked and banned in short order. The fact that you have not been banned, nor ganged up on suggests other than what you suggest. May I suggest that you get over it, and as previously stated, get your butt to Hope in May and meet some of these "conspirators" in person. You just might find yourself doing a reevaluation of your initial thoughts on this whole thing. Roger This is the only forum I belong to, that I have ever belonged to, and that I ever will belong to. I lurked for more than a year. Then I joined. I've played a little bit of the role of a newcomer, but I know who Mark is - that's how long I've been looking around. I know more about these forums and it's members than you assume I do. This is a bit a quirk I carry in my personality where I am as thorough as I possibly can be before I commit. It's served me well in my personal and professional life. So I stick with what works. The reason I joined in spite of knowing the 'short comings' of this community is because a) I love Klipsch, b ) there are some very good members and some very good moderators, and c) the shortcoming of this community are the strengths of others - it is miles beyond others. It shows. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't check ourselves. Slip and fall, get back up admit the shortcomings and continue on. No harm done. I see that in this community; in the members that are the 'clique.' Which, btw, I do not mean in a derogatory manner. It's my description of those members who have been here for a long time and who know each other beyond the keyboard. Think 'Cheers' (one of my all time favorite television comedies). Where the regulars can talk and cut up with the bartenders (the moderators) and get away with a little bit more than the average customer off the street. I know you get together every year in Hope. I know you have a great time and you build friendships. I know you laugh with them. And I know you cry with them. I know who Boxx was. And I saw how this community reacted to his passing. When you see me commenting on the conduct of the members keep this in mind: I know what it is capable of, because I've seen it, and I decided to be a part of it. We are all better than that thread. Like every close community there are disagreements and there will be more. But we should be mindful that what we put here on this forum is there for everyone to see: prospective members, guests included. Forever. For heavens sake, it takes effort to log on, read a post, click the reply button, write what we want to share and then click post. You'd think in that amount of time an adult would be able to parse their words and come up with a result that takes into account the person on the other end of those comments and the reflection it has on us as individuals. If you can't, don't post. Log off and come back when you've gathered yourself. Thank you very much for the invite to Hope. But for very personal reasons, I could never attend.

  43. WOW! I always wanted an induction coil. I've seen them used on TV, but I always thought you had to have a thousand pound machine behind them. I completely think I could use one of these. Where did you buy it? The other day, I splurged and bought and mounted a bench pipe chain vise. If you don't have one, you don't know what you're missing. Even if you never put a pipe in it, it doesn't matter. It's one of those things that kinda makes the regular vise the second choice when working on a lot of stuff. The thing has a million uses, is faster than a regular vise, and it holds better. I should make a thread showing all the stuff I've figured out it's good for so far, and I've only had it a couple weeks.

  47. Stress will wreak havoc on a body. When my youngest daughter was in ICU for 45 days my wife lost hair by the handfuls. Once my daughter got home, it started filling back in. I think stress can be the worst thing for your health, it can affect everything. My doctor mentioned that to me once….stress is one of the worst thing for our body.
