  4. I catch a whiff of coffee, as a wisp of steam rises from my morning cup. It's a good start for my day. First off to take my grandson to school, a final house walk through at 9 for my friend's buying a house here and this afternoon, setting up another friend's new digital audio server. The count down has begun. Hope and Bodcaw in my future. Speaking of which, I posted a couple pieces in the Pilgrimage for sale thread.

  6. Yes he did. Standing on the Balboa side, next to the ferry, looking across the bay, to the right of the ferry landing he was three houses down w/Trimerian. Everyone w/bayfront home has huge windows, i saw him many a time, he and a hell of a lot of bay people knew me better. I just did not know it at the time. Cruise around in a Sub, people want to know WTF?

  10. BINGO Pulled the tweeter horn just now and Red post was loose with the wire hanging. Checked the driver and 7 ohms, so should be good. Seems weird to me, but the wire that was loose has about an inch of blue shrink and is tied in a knot (not tight).

  13. Rarity doesn't always translate into higher prices. Gary Shinall was authorized by Paul to make a "clones" of Klipsch speakers. In this case, maybe even a predecessor to the Belle. The value of such items are very subjective and will likely take the right collector to fetch the asking price. I would think a later perfected Belle design would fetch a higher price than a similar pair of Klipsch Belles, but who knows. As the previous post shows, this might be a work in progress or may have even started as a 2-way and the tweeter was added later. I think the rarity does make estimating value more difficult with much less statistics to go on. We don't know how this one sounds, it might be worth more as a piece of history than a daily use 2-channel setup. Personally, I would opt for a nice pair of Belles.

  14. I seem to be running on a Genesis related theme in my music listening Today's album is one from Peter Gabriel's early solo career Artist - Peter Gabriel Title - Peter Gabriel [2] 1978 Produced by Robert Fripp This album is probably a sleeping gem, You can see how he is trying to find his style and the basics learnt from this album has moulded his later works Listening to this album at face value is a mistake you need a few spins to get the whole picture

  19. I guess I'm lucky, because after Audyssey calibration with a microphone spread of 3 seats (8 mic positions), the sound is better with Audyssey than without in all 5 seats (5 seats across, fairly close together, on a couch in a room 16.75 feet wide). I hear that Audyssey is now recommending a closer mic cluster than it once did. Before I started, I put in a medium amount of absorption and there is a large amount of diffusion. The only thing that seems worse in the farthest apart seats (seats number 1 and 5) is the imagining, and it is not too bad with movies. And, I'd say that even in the extreme seats, the imaging is better with Audyssey than without.

  20. well, thanks to Metropolis, i have a brand new set of KI-396's in my living room. these thing absolutely rock! extremely loud, articulate, and fast when cranked up, but yet smooth and mellow at easy listening levels. i could not have gotten a better fit for what i was looking for. Metallica's "one" pushed at high volumes with my xpa-2 is something you need to experience

  23. I probably built those CW's. FACING THE REAR of the cabinets, follow the rear edge of the side panel to your left up almost to the miter joint, and there should be some stamped-in initials. Usually one pair side by side and one single initial either above or below the pair. If there is an "A" in the mix, then I built them.

  33. The big question is..... why the sudden change from tubes and Heritage to solid state and reference????? Inquiring minds want to know. But those amps look sweet not sure of the sound on klipsch Heritage though, since I use to have a yammy receiver till I got the HK 430 on Andys advice. I do really like the clean look of it all though that's a big thumbs up Matt. My son got some RF-7s and they do sound awesome.

  45. I got over the "fear of death" thing several years ago - stage III cancer will do that -- I worked my way into acceptance pretty fast. I do have Depression though, which I've had since '97. The anxiety that comes with that is hard to pin down. I sometimes think it's just the stress from feeling like crap all of the time. Work, hobbies, etc., all of this kind of stuff gives a person a sense of purpose, and a sense of belonging. People who lose those tend to off themselves.

  46. Update I have been testing the crossovers - giving them some burn in time, and have found them very agreeable Sound is beautiful at this crossover point @ 500htz for this setup combination Myself and the builder of the crossovers, have given a score of 9 out of 10 I will however tweak the crossover minimally by replacing or adding 1) Pathaudio earthed Resistors to the tweeter section 2) Mills Resistors to the tweeter PCB 3) Duelund standard Resistor 4) Jentzen flat wax Inductor Coils to service the mid and tweeter sections I feel and hope that these tweak additions to the crossovers will take the La Scalas to another level and then I will sit and enjoy the music forever more ( famous last words ) Just taken a short video ( hope it does the system justice )
