  2. Oh NO! @billybob. I grew up walking barefoot in the summer, Myrtle Beach once a year, Outer Banks before the houses, Blue Ridge before that spacey floating highway! USS N.C. the day it docked in Wilmington, before they cleaned out all the wiring! When it was safe to drive around town without a degree of ESP. Saw the Marshall Tucker Band bus going east on Archdale Dr. almost every Sunday morning walking to church. Known some excellent northern folk from Long Island, Buffalo and Mass. Worked with one nut of a painter from NJ until he scared the crap out of me in a 50' lift for the second time. I fired him when I touched the ground, got on my V-65 and left Disney before lunch that day.

  3. Hey y’all made it up to Mom’s place just northeast of Dallas. Little Sister stopped by and then about 11:00 PM her hubby strolled in, up to 0330. Lunch with Mom and big sister today. Hot spot off the cell. Will be slow lane here as well and off to Hope on Wed.

  15. Those look really nice! If that is the case I would go with the Heresy's. The high efficiency and midrange are very 'forward' and will be able to overcome the ringing. The KG's on the other hand are more laid back in the mid range but pound bass. Since you already have the CF-3, I would go with the Heresy also as it will round out your collection better with a 2 way and 3 way design where the KG 5.5 will sound more similar to your CF-3.

  16. I will definitely take your advice on this. Unfortunately, the guy with the Heresy's has yet to reply to me. If he does, and they have a pulse, they shall be mine. Even if on life support. Thanks, I've been having fun with my new hobby! I've been accused of that several times in my life, Emile! Occasionally it's even been true... I suffer from some really bad tinnitus, from a motorcycle tire blowing apart while I was filling it. It happened right next to my head. Sound pressure and healthy vocal ranges trump everything now, and brute force is needed to override the ugly chords that live in my head constantly. My days of aural discernment have been over for 25 years. Here are the new babies! (Not too bad for a C-note)

  21. On a side note, forums are a fantastic way for folks of common interest to communicate and share information. However, Cary Audio as a company does not monitor forums because we feel they are the consumers domain. So, if anyone does need sales, customer service, or technical assistance and posts it here, we many not see it in a timely fashion or perhaps at all. Therefore, don't hesitate to contact us directly. That being said, I will try to jump in under this Topic from time to time and comment where appropriate. Thanks again and enjoy your Klipsch (and hopefully Cary Audio) systems! 25. Don't rule out a cameo from me at the pilgrimage. If I can sweet talk the wife out of the new car for a few days... If I have one day there ... Sat or Sun - which is better? @Opus and @Ceptorman when are you guys headed out? Last night, my sister in law came over. Someone gave her some table glasses, so the she and wife were looking at them. SIL sez, "Here's one that has a marijuana leaf on it" Wife looks at it, "Yeah, that IS a MARIJUANA LEAF" Let ME look at it ... "Ummmmmm, girls, that is a sand dollar etched on this glass" and they think I'm a Devo

  26. OK we packed up the car tonight except for a couple things and it's FULL. Went to go round up a few more things to bring out in the AM so we can leave, went back to the car a few minutes later to check something and it locked itself, of course with the keys in it. That's when you get that dumbass feeling, no extra key, will fix that stupid move tomorrow. Try the old coat hanger trick, no luck getting it in on the side of the window, something blocking it ? So we start calling lock people to come out and of course you leave a message no one answers. So I try a longshot, trying to get the coat hanger now with a point on the end to snag the flat little button you pull up to unlock, after 5 minutes of this it worked. I was kind of shocked and happy I probably saved $100, this made me happy. The car use to have Onstar so she called to reactivate it, you have to be in the car to press the button to activate, so that was no good. I highly doubt it but am hoping it's the last stupid thing I do all week, if nothing else there will be plenty witnesses when I screw up next.

  27. Like I know about snowmobiles, never touched one in my life. These are for go karts and I would guess MUCH cheaper than anything on a snowmobile. http://www.reliablegokarts.com/transmission.htm Or Amazon https://www.amazon.com/VEVOR-Torque-Converter-Small-Engine/dp/B01LNH23IK/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1526274718&sr=8-15&keywords=go+cart+transmission

  29. Similar design to a go cart transmission, 2 pulleys one gets wider or smaller, being angled this changes the diameter which changes the speed. It sounds like anyway.

  40. Hello again! Well, I finally have some Wi-Fi and a computer with a real keyboard for the moment. So, I better take advantage. To address some of the specific questions in some of the posts, the preamp being built is an SLP-98, which is our “mid-level” preamplifier. As for the mono block, that is the formidable CAD-211FE! Klipsch and Cary Audio have a long history of synergy. For the purpose of this topic I’m going to take for granted we’re mostly taking about the Heritage Series and or Jubilee’s. As a company, we manufacture various tube and solid state products. To break it down for simplification purposes, we essentially produce two styles of tube circuits, SET and Ultralinear. Each have different various styles, i.e. integrated amplifier or power amplifier, and sizes/price points. From our perspective (keeping in mind we also produce terrific solid state amplifiers) Klipsch and Cary tubes is a combination hard to beat on many levels. At minimum, we’d recommend using tube power on the mids and highs. Tubes can also sound wonderful on bass bins or the “woofers”. As for which style of tube circuit, well that’s a bit more complex. Let’s first address power at to take that part out of the equation. With the efficiency of the Heritage Series and Jubilee, any of our tube based products will have the power to drive them. What one most consider is the size of their space, the volume level they desire and the type of source material they will use, and is it a 2-channel or HT system. The SET designs are single ended triode (Class A). This is a very different circuit then utralinear but when it comes to 2-channel, lighter genres without the need for earthshaking bass in favor of wonderfully textured bass, the SET cannot be beat. It is magical on a scale its own. One could combine SET on the mids/highs and use solid state on the bass if they require harder hitting bass for HT or other more modern musical genres. SET and or biamping is certainly a bit more expensive. The ultralinear amplifiers and integrated amps are Class AB with some designs having a triode mode, which is all Class A but cuts the power output in half (Triode is not SET). All AB amp even in ultralinear mode will run in Class A for a small portion then switch over to make the Class AB. Our ultralinear designs overall are a bit more economical with greater output power while exploiting all the advantages of tubes. The exception is our CAD-211FE mono block. They are our most expensive amplifier and offer fantastic top to bottom sound with very high power with any source material. They are in use in many recoding and master studios around the world. In a nutshell, ultrlinear is more affordable, higher power, more “linear” sounding and are great with all musical genres. SET are more niche for incredible musicality with a greater mid-range richness and typically for lower listening levels on lighter genres of music. Of course one could biamp using SET on mids/highs and use utralinear or solid state on the bass for the “best of everything” scenario. I hope this helps. Many customer and companies around the world have discovered the magic of Cary Audio with Klipsch Heritage. If I can answer any additional questions, please let me know -Daryl Berk Cary Audio

  41. My 1977 (bought new after college) KCBR Klipschorns were made of Baltic Birch. I had NEVER seen 9 layer, 1/2 inch plywood before. They were impressive, and sounded great, of course. My new (to me) Klipshorn Jubillee Clones, built by HPower, designed by Roy Delgado and Paul Klipsch, are Baltic Birch with veneer and weigh a ton! They also sound fantastic!!

  45. --- been checking Hope weather for a possible trip down on the bike. Friday showed 95 and possible t-storms. It's not the rain but the mud pit aftermath that concerns me. A half-mile of slick bumpy mud and a 700 lb.road bike do not mix near as well as a Carl shaker. Four wheels does seem the most prudent yet disappointing at this point.

  48. They look great. If it were my project, I’d forget grilles. They’re a lot of work, and , IMO, they work against the pro look you’ve so successfully captured. If they were veneered furniture, I’d say yes, but not these working class beauties. But they aren’t mine, it’s your decision, and either way will be good.
