  1. Well the original sign is carved into the wood so I made the bottom one from Cypress and painted it the same colors. But it's not engraved just painted on and sandpaper can change it, not that there is a need for that, just saying. I don't carve, route letters anyway.

  2. One member Scott Yocum brought piles of deserts for everyone and also decorated cookies for all the plant employees to go with the BBQ lunch Rodney cooked, sponsored by our forum members, the real reason this all got started up again. There were many boxes like this, enough for all plant employees and forum members, that's just how Mr Yocum is. 100% edible, and I did.

  3. It did, last Tuesday it got cloudy and rained about 5 miles away but that was it, we were lucky last year it stormed so we had no choice but to put the bands inside but that worked out so well we just had the band inside. The clubhouse is big enough for all of us and a band. Tuesday, pic of some of the lake and lake house with cloudy skies.

  4. No no, build a box that will fit the entire speaker cabinet that you currently have inside of it. Volume never changes and you get a shape that's only slightly bigger in most dimensions and then you have easy angles and material to veneer. Then grill cloth the whole front.

  5. Ok back to abnormal, gone for a week and had 3 cups of coffee, home since Sunday night and more than 2 pots by myself, probably have to make another this evening. Glad to be back to my bed, shower, stereo, coffee pot and everything else old people get use to. Had a great time with friends but glad to be home.

  7. Here you go @dirtmudd I won’t tell the gang, who prompted me to search for this information Thorens TD 125, EMT 928 and Thorens Reference. What is the story here? Well, they are siblings. It all started with the TD 125. After the company had been relocated from Switzerland to Germany and the old top model TD 124 was discontinued and the new TD 150 was the entry level offering only Thorens presented the TD 125 as the new top model in 1968. The complex mechanism of the motor to step pulley to idler wheel was simplified by a direct transmission of the motor spinning to the platter via a belt. Given the speed adjustment via magnetic brake wasn’t possible anymore the engineers moved to a synchronous motor and a wien bridge oscillator to adjust the speed. As we all know the TD 125 was a very successful model and remains still underrated to the date. The next step was that EMT needed a more affordable turntable compared to its than current entry level model EMT 930. Given EMT and Thorens were under one roof they took the Thorens 125 and transformed it to the EMT 928. This new table was launched in early 1971 and was the first EMT to use the 929 tonearm. In order to be fit for radio station needs they moved from a two phase synchronous motor in the 125 to a three phase model from Berger. If you compare the motor driving circuit from the 125 with the 928 you can easily spot similarities. Although EMT aficionados sniff with their nose when asked about the 928 I have heard the statement of a technician servicing all EMT models for radio stations that the 928 was the only one he could enjoy music with.

  13. @BigStewMan Steve, if you are referring to my post earlier in this thread I'm sorry. I certainly did not mean it that way. That is an old Irish saying and has nothing to do with suicide. Again Best Wishes to you and yours. Eric

  16. But the mortgage companies do. They make it mandatory to carry flood insurance if you're in a flood plane as a condition of financing. If you let it lapse, they'll provide it and charge you for it.

  20. Lol, I have a good imagination. Spent 4 hours yesterday just to sell a craigslist deal local. Dud had large Akai speakers that sounded pretty decent now. Some Kappa.6.1 that sounded well, alright. Some baby advents and amazingly to me, some Mordaunt Short monitor hooked to his Pioneer PL-518 TT powered by an 80 wpc simple Audiosource through a mixer. After hearing a new to me group through diff.. gear the TT playing a mintish Aja lp never sounded finer to me. He offered to let me thumb through his stack but, I was so mortified by the condition of the covers, that I passed it up due to envy on my part. You just never know, and yes, we had much in common. What a hoot!

  27. The only think I can suggest is throwing it in one of these. Get a cutting drill bit and drill a port about the same size as the original cab. https://www.parts-express.com/pa-knock-down-trapezoid-plywood-speaker-cabinet-for-12-driver--245-324

  29. Got some pretty good sounding EQ settings last night. I decided to explore the "generalized room correction" approach a bit more. I made a collection of measurements at 8 listening positions and averaged them together and then filtered at 1/12 octave. I then constructed 10 PEQs over full range to match this. I downloaded the 90 degree mic cal file for this and used the mic pointing at the ceiling. The results sound pretty good. Fixed some bass resonances I didn't even realize were there. I'd still like to soften up the mids a bit more. Overall I found that I tend to get better results (to my ears) with the PEQ's cutting rather than boosting. If I allow the PEQs to have unlimited positive gain and position the target response in the middle of the recorded data the predicted response is nearly perfectly flat, but to my ears it sounds a little better if I instead set the target response a little lower and restrict the PEQ gains to no more than +3dB (or even 0dB). I believe this forces the algorithm to do the best it can with cuts only.

  30. I for one will absolutely miss you Steve and your posts. You have a way of telling a story that always made me chuckle. I can wish you nothing but the best in your future and would consider myself fortunate if our paths crossed one day. Peace out.

  32. Good ol’ Windsor. Been there several times over the years. Was a great auto town. I am originally from Oshawa, the other Canadian motor city. Been up north for a long time. Spring is weird up here, it just comes out of nowhere. Last week balmy highs of plus 2, -8 at night and then here we are, no coats or jackets needed. Shoulder seasons are very minimal. Basically winter and not winter. Summers are fantastic and the best fishing in the universe. All good!

  35. I would love to see Cinderella go all the way. I have always been a fan of Deryk Engelland and I was pissed that the Flames let him go. Even though I hated the Pens and him when he played there, I have such fond memories of him and Colton Orr of my Leafs going at it. The Calgary Flames fans were all cheering when he was taken by Vegas, they didn't need him. He was too old, too slow...and nobody needs a fighter any more....right. Well, he has really stepped up his game. For the first time in his career his coach has faith in him, playing....not just fighting and filling in for the tired and injured in their top six. I absolutely hated Gerard Gallant when he played for the Wings but he has really come into his own as a coach. The guys like playing for him and he lets them play. When his players take the odd stupid penalty Gallant doesn't play the "I'll show you" and bench them the rest of the game. Vegas is so exciting to watch, if it ends up with either of the Eastern teams that final will be fantastic.

Yet the very best of Good Fortune to you. Respect your intentions and hope our paths meet one day. Or here on the forum...again.

  43. I was drinking my coffee, twiddling my cables, while wife watched the wedding. I had to excuse myself after I started laughing about the commentator getting excited about men on horses. Wife shot me one of those looks that suggested it would be in my best interest to [go] find something [else] to do. and Pat Boone could have rendered a more soulful Stand By Me ... sounded like muzak

  44. I don't have any numbers to back it up, but I think it's clear that they are already better than human drivers. As with the passenger airlines, it will take years to discover and solve the weaknesses, but every one solved will be one that is not repeated. Dave

  45. A widow is at her husband's funeral, sitting in the front row. One of the husband's friends taps her on the shoulder and asks, "may I get up and say something?" She replies, "yes, please." He stands up, walks to the front, clears his throat and says, "Plethora" and returns to his seat. The woman turns around and says, "thank you, that means a lot."
