It's been said that this is a 'plug & play' solution..... you plugged it in and now get to play around trying to figure it out. I was wondering if perhaps you pulled my typical stunt (not even sure I know enough about it to properly describe it) Intuitively, it seems to me that a "High pass" should go on the tweeter and "Low pass" should go on woofer when it's the other way around. I've done that more than I care to admit and it will give you weird sound. I have to remind myself of what it means whenever I tinker with it so I don't screw it up.4 points

There's 56 people in my direct family, so multiple birds will be cooked, and multiple methods of cooking. My favorite is my brother's deep fried version, smoked is pretty good also.4 points

I have a problem eating too much already, that would not help at all. It would be like a never ending cycle until I explode. .3 points

Re. the wood supplied for smoking ... does he deliver to Calgary? Brother - in - law just got a Napa wine barrel for use in smoking ... try it, you'll like it too. But that stack of smoking wood looks great!2 points

That lava lamp is much too modern and, as such, is definitely not timbre matched to those Khorns! The LL people went to a cheaper Chinese wax in 1994 that has completely different tonal characteristics. The least you could do is swap out the light bulb for one with a Crites filament. Pretty speakers, btw. Wish I lived closer. Matthew2 points

Well I sold the pair I was using in stereo but yes, when I had them I stood them up vertically after rotating the horns, they are really pretty unbelievable as main speakers very crisp and detailed with bass aplenty.2 points

Just to comment on the DIY Dayton stuff. Ive built 4 of the 3 cubic foot boxes using the HF15 driver. Two used a plate amp (daytons own that has premilled marks on the MDF for where to install it if you choose) and two using an external crown amp. All have been used either with La Scala, Belle, and now Forte III and using a Marantz receiver they have all blended flawlessly... better performance for substantially cheaper than commercial stuff if you are willing to sink a few hours into it1 point

Not yet. I was starting to give up after sending him a text and calling earlier in the day. Finally, he responded saying he wasn't feeling the greatest and that he would call me tomorrow about them to figure something out Still no indication that this is a scam or anything on my end. I pray it's not. I will let you know.1 point

You'll want to take each driver out and test them with an ohm meter. Report back with your readings. Could be something fried in the crossover as well. Hate to replace drivers that are working only to find that that wasn't the problem. Also check all external wiring and wouldn't be a bad idea to connect a different speaker to that output as well. Lots of things that could be the culprit.1 point

Since Klipsch speakers have sound that holds up over time getting the RP-280F to me means getting quality sound. Is the 8000F an upgrade in sound? I don't know, but they would be in the same mid-tier category that Klipsch offers. I would not exchange one mid-tier speaker set for another. The bigger issue IMO is if a person were starting out with a new system or a complete upgrade I would go with the newest speakers. Not because of superior sound but because it will be easier going forward to match the L/C/R and surrounds.1 point

I say get the RB-61s for $200.00 or for less and be content. They are very fine speakers that punch way above their weight class. With that said, still continue to hunt for a deal on your desired RS-62s and cross that road when you get there. Then you could move the 61s somewhere else or sell them to help pay for the 62s. Just noticed you found 81s for $300.00. Also a good deal. Bill1 point

HER TELEPHONE COMPANY PreviousNext An elderly lady phoned her telephone company to report that her telephone failed to ring when her friends called - and that on the few occasions when it did ring, her pet dog always moaned right before the phone rang. The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this psychic dog or senile elderly lady. He climbed a nearby telephone pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house. The phone didn't ring right away, but then the dog moaned loudly and the telephone began to ring. Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found: 1. The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire via a steel chain and collar. 2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose. 3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signaling current when the phone number was called. 4. After a couple of such jolts, the dog would start moaning and then urinate on himself and the ground. 5. The wet ground would complete the circuit, thus causing the phone to ring. Which demonstrates that some problems CAN be fixed by pissing and moaning.1 point

These games are always won in the trenches. It's amazing how a good offensive line can make a QB shine, look at Brady, he has unlimited time to find a receiver.1 point

Careful! I consider myself in the "my first stereo" stage and don't plan on getting worse---well, maybe might get a bur grinder. I grind my own before each batch with a basic whirly-gig grinder shaking at times for distribution for 15 seconds. I typically spend up to $12 for 3/4lbs, and use a Bunn coffee maker---it will brew a full pot in 3 minutes and definitely outperforms the slow drip kind. It also makes a quick pot of water for tea. Your upgrade would include the type of maker and grinding---simple.1 point
