  5. Would loved to have seen that tour. Either that year or the next was my first show.... Kansas touring for that record I posted the other night. Saw Cheap Trick in the late 80s in a place that held 200 tops. Gawd, they blew that roof off. And their theatrics set for the huge arenas was kinda neat when the band was ten feet away. They were out of their prime....... but still a very tight, cohesive band with too much power in a small venue!

  9. Would not compare to what you & the Mrs. sport in your living room @dtel! Preparing for the game and not excited with the prior three in the NHL ECC round. Made a mocha with coffee with an extra scoop of grounds, plus Promised Land Midnight Chocolate milk. Can't make choc milk anymore since hershey's changed their canned choc syrup. Tried the cocoa powder and some sugar but never got the ratio down pat. That Promised Land also makes the only real egg nog we can find at Christmas lately, good brand of dairy from TX. So this and the other waiting on me should keep me from nodding off in the third if Mr Game 7 can't save us!

  10. Well, I'm still alive. But that's about it. I'm pretty much useless. And cars, believe it or not, in the last 3 months I've already put over 100 miles (barely) on the car. The wife has been chauffeuring me around in her Honda. The navigation is so complicated to use it's almost useless for me. I'm sure Nashville is a nice place to live but I told my wife that it's a toss-up as to whether I'd rather just go on and kick the bucket or continue to go back for the next year. The traffic is unbelievable downtown. And I haven't found a good cup of coffee yet. Take care.

  12. I still prefer my cars to be used as instruments of driving as opposed to entertainment. I don't even need a radio if the exhaust sounds good. That's music enough to my ears.

  13. How are you doing my friend? I admit to never using an ATM. My new to me car is way too smart. It's got a zillion features that a more inquisitive person would be pouring over the manual for hours.....not me. I just want to start it and drive. Carl would have the whole manual dissected and digested before he got behind the wheel😊

  21. I had been trying to replace some Speakerlab woofers for months when I saw a post by Mookie . He said he had a pair that I could have just for the shipping cost . Received speakers a few days latter. When I asked for his Pay pal account to pay for shipping he said " just made a charitable donation somewhere & we would both be paying it forward . Now is that cool or what . Kind enough to give the drivers away free but not even recouping shipping blew me away ! THANKS, Mookie

  22. Driving around w/a kid in a car seat to put them to sleep? Nah, no way! Put the kid in his carrier and give him a dryer ride! Dryer with or w/o wet clothes works like a charm. Heat and the rumble then BOOM! Gone! Down-side is you have to lean on the dryer with your arms on either side of the carrier so it doesn't slide off. The REALLY down-side is when YOU nod out and plant ur face either in the carrier or dryer top. Whatever works. but the face plants aren't fun 😂

  26. After my own heart, you are. I've been told that as an infant they would put me on the flat spot between the seats of the T-Bird and drive around the block a couple of times to put me under. Last good car had a Dr. Gas X-pipe right where the pipes got the hottest after leaving the manifolds of that 16 valve LT-1 connected to Flowmaster 50s... the truck type I believe that were the same as the 40s but not obnoxious when idling. But a 396 with pop-tops and a wild cam or an early 70s 440 does not calm me down at all!

  27. Well, is a work in progress, so I'm sort of embarrassed to show it off right now... it's tiny room for a setup with these massive speakers; in fact you could almost call it near-field! Plus I am also having to store some of my other toys (for instance, pair of kg4 in boxes, my second subwoofer kit parts, etc. But, oh the sound... Rick

  28. Heresy III fits in my IKEA console like it was custom made for it. Flanked by Forte III’s and SVS SB13 in the corner. Sounds really good to me but my experience is limited. My RP 250C was not keeping up very well so I went for the Heresy.

  30. Hi there all! I’m selling my Chorus I speakers to make room for a new set of Klipsch speakers. The only modifications I performed is the titanium diaphragms in the tweeter. I still have the original phenolic is you want them instead. You all know what these speakers are capable of. If you have any questions, I am happy to answer them. And if you live in Texas outside of DFW, I’d be willing to bring them to you (Austin/Houston/San Antonio) for a reasonable cost (if my schedule allows) or meeting you half way.

I'll have to pull for the West in the final, but my birthday won't be as nice as it was in 2006 in I don't know how much longer!

  43. There are other user tweaks besides the aforementioned DIY trim customizations for the bass bins and K-402s: Using other 2" throat diameter compression drivers including: TAD TD-4002, FaitalPRO HF20AT, HF200; BMS 4592ND (dual diaphragm); JBL 2445, 2446; Radian 950PB, 950BePB; EV DH1A, etc. Additional damping material applied to the bass bin front panel to reduce nearfield reflections and further smooth mid-bass frequency response. Rotating the K-402 horn forward and down (via releasing the K-402 horn from its mouth attachments) to facilitate reducing the overall Jubilee height and further flatten overall phase response DSP crossover setting customization (including crossover filters) to integrate the above-mentioned compression drivers and to dial-in with measurements taken in-room, for instance:

  44. THOSE ALREADY ARE DECORATORS!...CDBR's...and I most likely built them! Just stand behind them...facing the rear of them....and look at the rear edge of the side panels to your left....up close to the top (within 2 inches from top!)...there will be letters stamped into that side panel there...if one is an "A", then I built them! These are late CDBR models...if the trim on front is like screen-door moulding or maybe quarter or half round...then likely was installed at factory...appears the standard grille=cloth panels used on the finely-veneered Cornwalls is what was put onto these....so very late ones!...prior to us starting the CBR model up with drop-in motor-boards! You can finely-veneer them or use 1/8th inch thick finely veneered panels or birch panels to do it...too easy!

  48. IMHO, the most important question to ask about the extremely expensive speakers and upstream equipment being touted as the best thing since buttered popcorn came along and can only be sold to the richest people today, because they are the only ones who could possibly afford them, is, and always SHOULD be: "Yeah, and if they are the ULTIMATE, then (1) how long will it be until the same company comes out with something even LESS affordable and calls THAT the ultimate...and (2) where will the company be 40 years from now?" And the answers are pretty-much invariably: (1) Not very long, and (2) Out of business 30-35 years ago! You can only con so many people who have more money than common sense for so long...or as Abe Lincoln said: You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time! IMHO, I would rather support a company that has proven its value to the audio industry, and its customers since 1946, myself! AND which ALSO allows for discussions on its OWN CORPORATE WEBSITE FORUM about individual "improvements"....speaker designs totally unrelated and highly possibly even detrimental to its own profit margins...speakers made by other manufacturers...the list goes on and on!...and who the hell else allows THAT??? You can add in this to the mix...where else online can somebody just ask any kind of audio-related question, to include VIDEO and COMPUTER-related questions and IMMEDIATELY get a number of members welcoming them and doing their best to provide at the very least SOME help??? This forum, as much as it SEEMS to be possibly detrimental the "corporate entity" that allows for it...ALSO provides FUTURE possibilities for marketable modifications to existing products, while at the same time providing usable input for FUTURE new marketable products!! Otherwise, why would they even bother with it to begin with?? Honestly folks... who do you REALLY believe was responsible for bringing the CORNWALL back, to begin with? IT WAS ALL OF YOU! And just look at what else is now making comebacks...who is responsible for that? DUH!!!
