  1. I finally finished cutting my black granite slabs that I have had for almost a year now. Placed them on top of my 5 Chorus II's and my diy audio racks for a seamless look. The other 2 Chorus II's are in surround position with matching black granite tops. So what do you guys think? Do you like the look of black granite and walnut?

  2. It’s about your record collection, and to show us your preferred genre, so in absence of a turntable? Just post up a photo of your album and link a video so we can have a listen Thanks Took a while to get the system just right Now I’m enjoying it for music pleasure just about every day

  5. When Roy first demonstrated a K402 on the LaScala for a small group of us is when I believe some started calling it a Jubscala so I understand stand why Islander might use that phrase. With that being said Roy has always said at any gatherings I’ve been a part of is that what makes a Jub is the Jubilee LF Horn. Klipsch Listening Room at Lab. I’m in the yellow shirt and Drwho is to my left. Rigma’s passive crossover and my Tube Amps can be seen in the floor. Great Time this was...🙂 miketn

  9. After getting great-looking charts in the article Moray linked-to the author goes on to say: "After a month of twiddlng around, how did it sound? Well - not as good as it looked. The balance wasn't right; it was too bass-heavy. In terms of coloration and image quality, the speaker was much better, and the "PA sound" coloration was gone. "The balance problem could be partly alleviated by putting the speakers farther into the room, audiophile-style, but the Chorus, like the Cornwall, is a physically imposing speaker, and looks odd sitting in the middle of the room. This experience shows that it's easy to get led down the garden path - the measurements above are some of the best I've seen, but trust me, the modified Chorus was a long way from being one of the best. I undid all the mods and returned them to stock condition, and the bright, fresh Klipsch sound was back." Very interesting.

  10. I have said before that the next in line after my LaScalas would be the Chorus. Nice job on the bracing. BUT, I will be going bigger. Actually have a schedule now for picking up my MWM bins the first or second week of August. 😲 Bruce

  11. Totally agree with you! The funny thing about them all is they just turn... Some better than others it seems. ;p; Then ya toss on this tone arm and that tone arm. then it's this cartridge or that cartridge. I get soooo lost-ed at times too! Gonna sort it all somehow though! Welcome to the group and don't worry about a thing it all just seems to happen somehow in here! Questions just ask. Great place to share info and questions! Bring it brother!

  12. here is a link showing you just how much time alignment can do for your Chorus. Also the flair on your vents is just as helpful on the front side of the cabinet. Air motion at both ends of the vent is important. http://www.nutshellhifi.com/MLS/MLS3.html

  14. I'll second that opinion ! I know many here say the Chorus does best with high power, My big Yamaha amp is getting recapped so I'm currently pushing mine with @ "measly" 85 watt Luxman R-115. I can't get it up much past 1/4 volume & things start falling off shelves 😁 I can literally feel my chest cavity start to vibrate with the K-48 woofer movement too. (If needed, I think I could do "self-CPR" if I turned the Luxman 1/2 way !

  18. No argument, just a couple of facts. Pre WWII Jewish population is regarded to have been around 16.5 million. Today it is once again around that number. Conservative estimates of pre Columbian native American population are around 50 million. 2019 population is just under 1.8 million. Effectiveness, and I already said in my first post I am not making any judgment or moral call here, that is a topic for a different discussion, or at least argue with someone else about it.

  22. Well that sounds good but here is the problem with software and learning on your own by trial and error and crap documentation. You can spend a ton of time to get to what you think is the right place with it only to find out later there were best practices that would give you better and quicker results. You can go on for some time thinking you have it all solved only to have some whiz bang at it see you work your "magic" and when he is done laughing show you how it is really done. It is not that it can't be done but my tolerance for stumbling through the process has about had it after 15 years of CAD and CAM programs. I would rather learn best practices to begin with and save myself the problems DIY can cause with software.

  23. I have seen this "naming" discussion before... in other fields and it usually revolves around bastard designs. Naming is easier than saying "It's an X with a modified Y combined with a Z tweaked to XX"

  24. Well I could not sleep until I read your results... no not shabby at all. More to say later yet, when getting some bass extension with volume, and your results of your ongoing(?) tests, I think your method is somewhat close to maybe spot on. Sounds like worth the doing, and the bracing as well...one thing you can say is the K-48-K is no slouch.Wish I had done the ports at the least... enjoyed your review and testing of the mods. Thanks...

  25. The upper bracing starts right above the opening of the woofer. (side to side oak 1"x1"). This is probably the weakest section of the entire speaker, because it's where the motorboard is thinnest, between the woofer opening & the mid-horn opening. Most of the bracing is 1"x1", with one piece of 2" x 3/4" & 2 cleats used in the middle as a side to side brace (same as I used on the bottom section) I also used construction adhesive to glue on 3 sheets of sound deadening egg crate foam. One sheet is on the inner "roof" of the speaker and one one each upper side wall. These were 2" thick 1 foot squares I bought on Amazon. (In case you're wondering, no insulation was inside the cabinet originally)

  26. After I cut the cardboard, I had to figure out a way to join the flare to the tube (btw, they are EXACTLY the same size diameter) I used blue painters tape on the inside (temporary measure, removed later) and then TWO coats around the outside seam of this flexible black adhesive called "E-6000" that I bought at Ace Hardware. After both of the 2 adhesive coats dried, I wrapped the seam with two layers of electrical tape to give it more strength.

  27. This is the flare I used. It might be a little overkill (? unnecessary) but I wanted to make sure I didn't get any port noise/chuffing sounds afterwards https://www.parts-express.com/Precision-Port-PSP-4IF-4-Inside-Flare-for-Port-Tube-268-377 <-- LINK to parts express 4" flare

  28. This is a closeup of the part I used. I bought it at "Michaels" a big chain craft store we have here in Florida. You may find it elsewhere, but I tried other mailing tubes, carpet roll inserts, etc. for weeks on end and NONE fit like I wanted except this one. https://www.michaels.com/white-shipping-tube-by-celebrate-it/M10323409.html?dwvar_M10323409_size=4&utm_source=CJ&utm_medium=2470763&utm_campaign=14079089&cm_mmc=Affiliate-_-CJ-_-2470763-_-14079089&affSource=2470763_14079089&cjevent=2c79bd6994ee11eb827d02db0a82b82c I did have to wind between 1-3 layers of electrical tape on the end of each tube to make it fit tight (& each one was different/unique in the amount it took)

  30. No that's not what I'm doing. I responded to your inaccurate comparison. The United States as a Nation never set out to exterminate native Americans. That's were you missed the boat. On the subject genocide and efficiency, no one did it better than the Germans. So you're wrong on that subject "efficiency" as well. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

  37. Yes Tubes have an average life expectancy but what’s the point to running them if no one is there to listen to them. 🙂 Well designed Tube Equipment is very robust so don’t worry about it. I really don’t buy into the leave it on 24/7 even for SS Equipment for best sound as is often advocated by some of the manufacturers. After about 30 minutes most equipment will have reached stable operating temperatures and the sound quality should be at its best IMHO. miketn

  41. These guys; if you got a chance to see them before they were headliners here in the states. Wow, guess I use that word a lot, it beats cussing all the time though. The high levels of toxic Alpha masculinity on and off the stage was apparent to anyone over the age of 14. They beat the cr&p out of every instrument they had and made it very hard on whoever was headlining the show, to appear to be the headliner. Don't think it's called heavy metal anymore, that station on the tv sounds like thrash rock only. JP went a little spacey or dare I say had a theatric/progressive tilt to some tunes. Might be a re-post for me, sorry I need a little JP every now and then and this disc does it for me! "Cheater" has a special place in my heart several bands do a song about that bad other half, JP does it well!
