Got my R2R back today.  The good is it seems to work okay.  The bad some light scratches on the top of the wood case and a slight scratch on one VU meter.  Was missing the take up reel so I had to take 1800 feet of tape off a reel to try it out.  Actually walked down my road with the reel in hand and the other end of the tape tied to a tree

Hooked it up to a similar vintage Pioneer SX-950 and it sounds okay.  The tape was recorded at the slowest speed 3 3/4 ips so nothing special.  So now I have 3 R2Rs :o

Suggestions on how to hide/remove the light scratches?

Happy TGIF evening my friends.... Looks like things are going well, and happy B'day from our home to your mom's, I trust she had a wonderful evening out ((0;

Ok, I am taking a night off from RTM, as it is CRUNCH TIME for the Los Vegas show!! We have a rehearsal Saturday afternoon which never happens, but due to the SNOW storm Monday, we had to reschedule...

So, working in the studio tonight.

Here is my new rig which is identical to what is being rented and delivered to the SunCoast Hotel/Casino on the 21st.

That is the actual setlist printout for the Diamond Mountain show for Saturday 23rd...

NEWS! Today, I spoke with Kenny our front man, and he talked with the movie producer and it seems that Neil Diamond just may show up!!!! If he does, he will be asked to join Kenny on our stage to sing Solitary Man which is the second to the last tune of the show... I just know the audience will go ballistic over this, and we will all be beside ourselves for sure ((((0:

.....and for sure, King Errissin (Neil's) percussionist will be with us for the finale singing his own music with Kenny, a very cool tune called "Mountains of Love" .. I believe the full cast from the movie including the Vegas Gospel choir will join us once again. This is just too cool to believe !!

Here is the 'symphonic' gear for the show...image.jpeg

Enjoy your evening everyone...

DUDE!

Glad you got it back!

You can go to any auto parts store and get a kit for polishing car headlights, that will take care of the scratch in your VU meter lens.

As for wood work, that would require pictures and covered to death on this forum in the past.

It will all depend on how deep they are :)

Very good news there Chuck, sorry about the added blemishes!  I dislike that sort of stuff !   Scratches on the meter may rub down with an auto clear coat scratch remover.  I have a couple of products that work well for this.   The key is to create HEAT be rubbing and it will soften the plastic and help round over the scratch edges, or remove it completely.

Let us know how it comes out.

Ok, back to music work here.................

Opening day was a huge success.  The temp at game time was 38 and it zoomed up to 42, but the sun made it feel warmer, as did the 4-0 defeat of the Yankees.  Snow flurries were just starting during the top of the 9th.

I was unable to attach photos to a post from the game.  Apparently, I had to clear some server space by deleting photos from old posts.

I do smoke cigarettes, maybe a bit of weed here and there, drink 2-3 times a month at the most but would not really consider any of it drugs.

Morning gang, soccer and baseball this morning, then down to the lake to prep for the up coming camping season.

Apparently, I had to clear some server space by deleting photos from old posts

Did you do this after the new site migration?  I had to as there were several duplicates of my old photos for some reason.   Also, I noticed that photos taken with my phone and posted via tapatalk do not take as much space.

Yes. If you go to "My Settings" and then "Manage Attachments" you can see how much of 100mb allowed space you have available. It's also easy to delete older attachments. As Carl mentioned, at least some posts that were migrated from older platform had triplicate attachments, which hogged storage space.

Phone photos are often smaller files than camera photos. My new phone takes hi-res photos that need to be resized to be attached.

Morning gang....

Getting ready to roll out to the shop...... I got the Pilot in before we rolled out yesterday..... Picked the heads up from the machine shop.....they look really good.... the head repair was a bit more than I thought it would be. But my guys at this machine shop do some super good work. Ya know it's been years and I mean years since I've had to take anything to the machine shop for engine work. So I think I'm out or touch of reality of how much machine work really is. I think the last time I took a 4 cylinder head in for a valve job it was around 200 bucks.... My two V-6 heads were almost 600 bucks and I supplied all the 12 bent exhaust valves  :o ..... Now they are Honda V-tec heads and there is a whole lot going on in that valve train.......anyway it is what it is.... I'm just glad it'll be going back together this week.....

Yea Carl your right it is time to get that thing running....... There just so little "free" time..... we still got so much going on with The BOSS's mom and the passing of her dad....it's just never ending.... but things are coming around...

Thanks guys for all the birthday wishes to my mom..... yea we had a good time at dinner last night. It was just me, The BOSS ,my dad and my mom and my youngest daughter stopped just to say hi... good times for sure :D

Tigerman....really cool stuff my man........ keep us posted for sure....Ya know The BOSS has been keeping up on all the posts hear and she said to me "hey Tigerman is up in Mass, that's not too far away.... we should go and see him and his band"....... yea that would be cool...

Chuck..... glad you got your R2R back...... good luck getting those scratches out....

Neil.... glad you had a good time at opening day..... man it's been years since I've been to a ball game...

Rog...... Good to hear your helping your friend out.... Hey depression is some tough shitt.... I've been known to get my head real deep up in my a$$ now and then..... We all need our friends to help pull it out...

All my other friends.... have a great day and weekend..... Will check in later with some pics...

MKP :-)

On really faded headlight lenses, some people use sandpaper to remove the haze. Then gradually work your way up to the super fine grit. There is a kit that has the sandpaper disk and applicator you hook to your drill.

this is the kit I was talking about, it is made by Mcguiuars and actually has two different grits of sand paper!

Afternoon all.....

Fresh cylinder heads from the machine shop....

Block and tops of pistons cleaned up....getting ready to install heads...

MKP :-)

Looks like those cylinder sleeves are scored up pretty good, hope it doesn't blow oil past the rings with those refreshed heads.

Have fun finishing up your project. :emotion-21:

Since you have a leak down tester, that would be a good thing to do when you get those heads bolted down. If you need a bottom end rebuild, you would know before you get everything put back together.

If you are going to do any testing squirt a couple drops of oil between the piston and cylinder walls then turn it over a bit to distribute the oil.

Dry or oil soaked rings will give you a false reading, just for a heads up
