BigStewMan 19985 Posted February 15 in January 1979, I was snowed in at a cheap motel in Michigan. there's probably more to that story; but it was still the 70s.

CECAA850 29388 Posted February 15 I drove the wife to work this morning. She's not much for driving on icy roads. The hospital she works at is open but that's about it for businesses around here. Plumbers are going to make a killing fixing burst piping in the next week or so.
rockhound 1039 Posted February 15 Please remind folks if they run a portable generator to make sure its not in the garage or other enclosed space. Every year I read where folks die from Co2 poisonings from generators being ran in the garage.

Had just seen about a large outage. She is in bed with dog. May ask her directly but, would not know what to say to her. Recall daughter family live there. How are they now? Just asked sister about her heat source. Edited February 15 by billybob

They have a gas fireplace so not totally without heat.

Their house is on a slab and the water may come up inside the house as opposed to my house where it comes up outside then elbows in. I have about 18" of pipe to protect from freezing.

Alright thanks...sister has power and she knows to run water overnight. Sorry, but yes, y'all be safe too! Thanks!

NADman 594 Posted February 15 My Ex up front and 2 of my neighbors clearing a 1/4 mile of road to get to the main road so I could drive her to the airport in Kelowna so that she could fly to Mexico with her a bunch of her girlfriends . Coytee 3385 Posted February 15 Don't miss it. Been cold here and lots of rain. Not hard rain but seemingly continuous rain for the last three months.... the ground is totally saturated. The door at the top of the stairs has recently taken to not latching. Could be from the house settling a bit but then, the house is now over 20 years old. Got me wondering of it's all this constant slow moisture that might be getting deeper into the ground causing something there. Or, it might simply be the crappy job I did installing the door... !! Supposed to get into low 50's on Saturday, sunshine with something like 5% chance of rain. I'm wanting to work on the tractor to get it ready for spring but don't have a shop to work in....so am stuck outside and won't work in the rain/mush. So what is a 2-hour job has turned into several months as I keep waiting.
MC39693 442 Posted February 16 I hope people who aren’t used to severe cold are safe. It is no fun and not to be played with especially if you aren’t used to it and have right clothing and house heat.
