Back when Gore created the internet as we know it today, i purchased a pair of Chorus on the Bay, and drove to Eugene OR to get them, these were to be the wifes. Just recently sold them, asking 6 bones, a kid shows up and looking at him, (His first Klipsch) i figure time to spoil the lil chit, 4 bones.3 points

We were tent camping years ago and woke up to find four skunks going through our groceries. It was a mama skunk and 3 babies. They were allowed to take whatever they needed or wanted.2 points

The mic will do what is needed. It will not be as perfect as using the loopback, but it will get you close enough. You can use calculations to get a baseline start then look at the frequency response at the crossover point. When drivers are time aligned and level matched using a LR 24db slope it will be flat at the crossover. The first thing is to make sure the drivers are level matched then you can mess with the delay and dial the delay in until you get it as flat as possible at the crossover point. Also speaker time alignment is only perfect at the place you align them at. You can also run a measurement sweep in rew and look at the impulse response. If one driver is delayed it will show up in the time between impulse response peaks.2 points

Sounds like the proper order to me Mark! My bud bluesboy is happy about the Seahawks victory last night I'm sure. Taking Jake to a large pool on Sunday that they close off to humans at the end of the season and let the dogs have it. Hope he can at least dog paddle Cheers Gents2 points

I saw these last weekend. It's synergy right down to the same grill. Magnolia had these sitting out on the floor with boom boxes and Bose (not kidding). Then 50ft away two large demo rooms full of speakers not one Klipsch to be seen. Very sad2 points

No I don't. But I do remember this 8-track tape that was not a tape, it was a stash for your weed. Got it at a record shop that sold weed paraphernalia back in the late 70's. I used to much of the contents of that tape that's why I can't remember my 1st 8-track lol lol :-)2 points

The HH Scott is excellent and great with Klipsch Heresy speakers. You'll like it and the Sansui in fine order.2 points

Klipsch CF-4 Speakers, Version 1, Year-1994. I am the original owner and these speakers have barely been used, but loved immensely when I have had the time. Mechanically Excellent. A few blemishes. They do look very nice. The only 2 things missing are the Klipsch emblems and the stands for the foot pegs. Asking $1,200 OBO + Shipping. They are located in Endwell, New York.1 point

Up for sale is a pair of Klipsch Pro Audio speakers. They are in excellent condition and I've tested them and they sound perfect. They really look to have little use and/or have had really good care taken of them. The speakers are 3-way speakers with tractrix horn tweets, tractrix horn mids and a 12 inch woofer. I believe these are almost identical to the KP-250s with the exception of only having the Neutrik Speakon connections. The cabinets approximate measurements are 22x17x14. I've attached photos and a brochure for you to review. KP-2500-C (2).pdf1 point

I guess I tend to forget there are other Reference speakers then RF-7's, and RF-5's. These where the speakers that first got me to notice Klipsch. When they replaced them with from what I felt was a down grade, I guess I felt the same as you. I can relate to this, I've always thought and do still think that the 3's, 5's, and 7's were better. ??? The RF-82 is clearly an upgrade from the RF-3, however slight it may be. True, the RF-5 remains unmatched in its price range and had seen no successor, but the real Reference line has only gotten better. I'm still trying to figure out the upcoming marketing strategy here though. Is the new true reference line going to be renamed? Or will we have the new Icon/Reference line sitting under a continuing Reference II series?1 point

Yup had to have 5x7 adapter plates but in my grand prix with t tops you could hear me coming from miles. I was a jamming.1 point

I think Jensen 6x9 Triaxials were pretty common back in the 70-80s, I know all my buddies had them. You may be right as far as tri-axial vs co axials. Things were a little "hazy" back then.1 point

The most unsung hero of a speaker is the rf5. Why they don't bring it back to close the gap between the 82's and 7's is beyond me especially if they refine them as they have done with the first 2 incarnations. It's important to keep in mind the difference between refinement, improvement and difference in sound reproduction. They all are similar and can be intertwined yet are separate and independent of one another. The consensus I feel in general is we are all a little butthurt because klipsch removed the glamour we all had and still have if you are in the know...1 point

I like the idea of DSP room effects for HT. But I prefer a more raw (live) sounding system for music. Most of the music I listen to is live music. My HT system is small........Klipsch 500.1 point

FWIW: The Altec Voice of the Theater guys used to wire the treble horn in reverse polarity, then put in a sine wave for the crossover frequency, and move the treble horn back and forth until a dip appeared at the crossover frequency. Then, they'd return the wiring to normal. It is much easier to detect the resulting dip, which could be 20 or 40 dB or more deep, than to find a 3 dB peak. So if you can make a sine wave, you can adjust the delay and look for this phenomenon. It may not be possible to get every frequency "time aligned." WMcD1 point

The AA uses a very shallow slopes I think 6 db on the woofer and 12 on the mid could be wrong on the mid. I would take a frequency response measure as stated with the AA in and use it as a baseline. Note the position of the volume on your denon and also of the mic. Now when you go active place the mic in the same position and the denon on the same volume. Adjusts the gains on your amps to match up to the other graph db wise. This will get you a baseline.1 point

I started out with 3 La Scalas... Wouldn't setting the active crossover to 400hz, LR24db/oct have me the same as the AA Networks? If it is levels we are talking... How do I match the levels of the JBLs with the 1/4 pies... Do I play a certain frequency through the speaker and shoot for a certain level or use use music? I am hoping I can get a friend to come over and help me do the measurements this weekend. It depends what your goals are for your active system. When I think of someone going to an active system, I picture them trying to replicate what they already have in their passive system. At least as a baseline to get things ballparked. I would use Pink noise and get a baseline FR plot before moving to the active system. Once the active is setup, you can try to replicate (or come close) to what you previously had so your system should sound similar. Then you can gradually make small adjustements over time as you listen to music until you finally stop fooling with things. An AA does not use 24db slopes. I would ask Dean or another network person about this. I think the AA uses different slopes on each crossover point.1 point

If the magnets are screwing with the picture, you're too close. Back the speaker away far enough until the picture looks normal.1 point

Oh here we go, a Raider fan, there's one in every bunch. One thing about raiders fans that's similar to saints fans, we can go decades without a winning season and still be diehard fans.1 point

You need a buyer that wants off brand parts (or does not care). Even if bobs stuff is as good or better its still not pk. honestly that didn't even enter my mind, thank you for your f/back. the new components sound so much better than the original. not that the klipsch were inferior, they were just in need of replacement!1 point

Nice welder. Always something that needs welding around the house ya know.1 point

The reason why bass traps work is because of the material used - most bass traps use Owens Corning 703, and it works very well as a broad-band absorber at high frequencies: Here is a link to the full datasheet: http://buyinsulationproducts.com/files/38807120.pdf1 point
