  1. Sitting here in my shop tonight testing out a new pair of speakers I have just finished building today. Over the years, many times Dee would come up here to listen to whatever new speakers there might be in the shop. He always wanted to hear "Soolaimon" by Neil Diamond. Playing that for you now on this new set of speakers Dee. Bob Crites

  2. Congrats Chuck. Now you're 20% of the way to admission to the BS secret forum I'm nearly 80% of the way to eligibility, but I have no plans to go there. To paraphrase Groucho Marx, I don't want to belong to any exclusive club that would have me. :-))

  3. Having a hobby you can listen too is only half the fun. After shopping for McMs for the better part of two years, and no real deal turning up, i expanded my search area. Finely, a deal, in >St Louis Mo, im in Ca. The wife and i took a week or so, 5300 miles by the time it was over. Cannot put a price on that, the experience, the road trip, met up with some members, shuttled a few goodies back and forth. The wife is game to do it again, anytime, anywhere.

  5. Hopefully this is the best forum to post this! In August 2015, the moving truck with all of my household possessions was stolen including my pair of Klpisch La Scalas. The theft occurred in Tacoma WA. The pair are black and were in their original boxes (massively re-taped). If you have run across these please let me know. There is an active investigation with the Tacoma Police Department. Many thanks, Alan Carrier Stockbridge MA

  6. Oh my goodness. So, I decided to see what's up with the DSD formats. Using my newer Reference Premiere 280's and the DSD 128 format, I discovered that digital sound is really making strides! Now, my SC-91 Elite Receiver is capable of decoding DSD 256, however, I must research to see if it can do DXD. I understand high bit-rate does not necessarily = better sound. But, I am a vinyl listener too. And this DSD format is as close as I have come to true analog fidelity thus far. Using Beethoven's Symphony #5, I felt as though I was at the performance. And this was 2-channel listening. Oh my! I can't wait to test multi-channel. We shall see! Praise be to Klipsch for excellent quality sound!

  14. I have a Dual CS-506-1 that I would like to offer up to someone for the price of shipping if not local to me. I recently had someone do something for me and to "pay it forward", I'd like to offer this table up. The only thing I ask is that you don't post it for sale on here, and give it to someone who will use it and appreciate it as I have. The table is like new and was restored about a year ago. It will come with an Ortofon OM10 cartridge, a cork mat for those who like them as well as the original, and a custom clear cover made for this table. It is a belt drive manual table with the arm raising and shutting down the motor at the end of the record. I have enjoyed the table but have upgraded to 2 others and originally was looking to sell it,until the kind act I have bestowed upon me, made me have a change of heart for the monetary purpose. I will ship this table with the platter removed, the cartridge removed, the counterweight removed, and the cover removed and all will be bubble wrapped and packed in the same box separately for protection. This is my way of saying Thank You to the person who did for me.

  15. Is a shameless plug OK? My own C7 for sale: https://stlouis.craigslist.org/ele/5345425744.html And my KLF-20s, too. P.S. Did sell my KV-4 center to a member here last year, for $280.

  21. You guys convinced me, I will go! I have never been to an event like this but it's about time I do. In aviation, I am always on the quest to learn because you don't know what you don't know and learning can save lives. Well this isn't quite as dramatic but I have more to learn than all of you have forgotten. thanks for the warm invite guys...

  30. Ha! I sort of agree with my friend here, but in a kinder and gentler way. I would question more what is your purpose in wanting the Rubicon? The reason being, you are choosing between a Jeep and a truck. I think of the jeep more as a toy unless you live in a rural area where 4 wheel-drive is needed. I think of a truck more as a work or transport of goods type of vehicle, although both descriptions are decidedly narrow. I live in West Virginia where we have lots of both. I'm with these guys. Believe me, I've been down this "road". If you want an off-road vehicle to thrash around with in the woods and off-road, then a Rubicon is a great choice (if you have the $$). If you really aren't interested in off-roading in a serious way - skip the Rubicon. My avatar is an '85 Toyota 4runner and I have more than $10k, less than $15k into. It is obviously more capable (but not as comfortable) as a $40K Rubicon. And when I total it, blow the engine, crash it bad - won't feel too bad. Easy to rebuild.

  31. To know Dee, was to love him. One of the most kind, gentle, loving people I have ever had the privilege of meeting. Without events like the Pilgrimage/Gatherings/Get Togethers I would never have been blessed with meeting so many incredible people. I could not agree more with Carl. This is one of the best reasons for attending these Pilgrimages/Gatherings. I want to thank those of you that personally messaged me to extend your thoughts and prayers to me yesterday and today, it means a lot. It is incredibly difficult for me to put into words how much the friendships we have made here mean to us. The lifelong friendships we have formed have no boundaries by the miles between us. Seeing our friends every year is truly like a family reunion where you actually like all of those in attendance. Dee formed many of those friendships through the years. I hope he remains ever present with us as a testament to how we should treat each other.

  32. It is sad to see the passing of a forum member. First Old Buckster, then Boxx & now Daddy Dee. Each loss has lessened our community. My condolences to the family. Judging by the comments of the members who had met him, it sounds like Daddy Dee was an outstanding person. RIP.

  33. I never met Boxx in person, but what a cool character he was, and it showed in his post's and thread reply's. A lot of wisdom and direction he gave as he had just about owned it all, from tons of McIntosh equip all the way to Jubs. etc.etc. He never had a "my way or the highway" POV. We all could use more of this.

  35. No apology necessary. It's all good. I didn't initially post on Garage Sale because I knew my price point was high and I'll only list on there if I am trying to give someone a deal. After reading this I realized it could be two forum members bidding against each other. So, I threw them on Garage sale roughly minus ebay fees if sold for my starting bid to give someone on here first chance if they really wanted them. No harm no foul.

  36. Alan, you really did come to the right place with your request. There are people here who constantly watch for Klipsch La Scalas for sale no matter where they are in the country. We have a long memory and we take theft of a "member of the family" very seriously. Do you have any pictures? Please post whatever you have and a good description of your LS, such as year, finish, gouges, water stains on the top, broken corners, etc. Year and XO type would help as well, believe it or not. If they try to part it out and we know what parts to look for and if the thieves try to sell it on CL or Ebay, there is a good chance it will be spotted.

  37. A little update. I was able to get the pieces c and b glued on. Also got the carriage bolts installed, you may noticed i used a little epoxy for the bokts and loctite on the nuts. That way no worries of bolts comming loose. Last i cut the what i consider odd angles. Perfect fit. Thats it for today, as i have other things to do. Over the week i will start cutting the pieces for the throat and getting them installed. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk

  38. Cornwalls will sing with the Eico HF-81. The KG4's are a little low on efficiency to bring the best out of that amp. For a non-Klipsch option, a pair of Altec Lansing 19's would be similar to Cornwalls (good luck finding a pair).

  40. I notice a difference here on yours, did you redesign it. As my plans show spacers in between each horn section. I would think that removing that spacer would create a difference in the throat section(maybe throat section isn't correct term). There would be a 3/4" difference if so, now from what I understand horns are more forgiving with designs so this may not matter. I am interested in your thought on all of that.

  46. What a sweet sweet man - I remember him from my first Pilgrimage to Hope. He was always friendly and supportive of those in need. Never a complaint. I can hear his gentle voice in my head just now... We lost one of the truly good guys. Condolences to Tony, family, and all in our community who had the pleasure to have known him.
