Went to Perrysburg, OH today to meet with my friend, George, from Toledo. to deliver a Technics SL-1500 and to use a TDA7297 chip amp to let him hear his newly acquired KLF-10s for the first time. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/164096-found-klipsch-for-toledo-friend/ We met at a British Autos car show at Fort Meigs. The rain seemed appropriate for British cars, I liked this Mini. That's George providing scale. Note the decal in the rear window.5 points

According to a recent blurb in The Washington Post, some company called 1010Data states that the Amazon Echo accounts for 25% of the entire US speaker market. It's some kind of glorified tin can that accepts voice commands and has a 2 inch tweeter and a 2.5 inch woofer that's uses a "reflex port" in some sort of Bose radio arrangement. Instead of calling it a mono setup they refer to it as a 360 degree sound system, I guess sorta like those circular tube speaker thingies Yamaha made back in the '70's. I'm heartened to hear that the future of audio is a revival of the drive in movie speaker. The voice activation is some new trend in just about anything geeky and smart phony. I wonder what it will do if you give it a voice command to sound better.3 points

A Mini Traveler! Love those. There are always a couple of them at the British show in NWA. I spent 3 decades driving British cars. MGB's specifically. Now I have gotten into 60's Honda motorcycles.3 points

It's an exaggeration to say that I met Ali, but he did visit our frat house in the mid-late 60s. Approximately 20 of us were awed by his presence. He'd just delivered a lecture on campus at MSU, I'm not sure how or why he was persuaded to spend approximately an hour with us. While it was clear that he enjoyed impressing the white boys, he did so in a charming and captivating manner. At one point he opened an attache case to use a phone to call his wife in Chicago. We didn't care if he was having some fun at our expense. We had Muhammad Ali in our living room, eating our food and mesmerizing us with demonstrations of his wit, humor and lightning fast reflexes. The theme of his talk on campus was the need for peaceful progress toward better relations between all people. His views were simultaneously principled and pragmatic. While he was opposed to violence philosophically, he also offered the pragmatic observation that violence was a losing strategy for a minority against the majority. He specifically said that guns against fighter jets was a mismatch. I understand why some disagree with his positions regarding the draft and Vietnam. Nevertheless, I believe he was sincere, as did the Supreme Court of the United States. Apparently, during the two decades he lived in Berrien Springs, MI, he anonymously gave to many individuals and organizations in that small Southwest Michigan community. In addition to being a tremendous athlete, he seems to have been a very good human being.3 points

Morning all. Very nice Capt'n. A coupla cups, two large milks with a bacon/bacon/bacon and egg sammich, packing up for the ATL trip and overseeing the son's pack up for his trip to Orlando with his high school band to perform at Disney.3 points

I'm pretty excited for July, as the local theatre that brought 70mm back to show Hateful 8 last year will be showing 2001: Space Odyssey, Lawrence of Arabia and Aliens; all in 70mm. Tickets go on sale tomorrow. Sorry for any thread hack. I'd be in line getting 2001 tickets My that's a lot of tickets......you must have a large family3 points

It has been a while, 72 years to the day when so many young Americans sacrificed their lives kicking in the door of Hitlers fortress Europe. Sadly I see next to nothing online or in the news showing reverence to those men. But we sure get to relive Hiroshima every August. So I thought I'd toss it out here. If not for so many who fell then we'd likely not be here and from the looks of current events not enough Americans appreciate the freedoms won so painfully.2 points

Almost through another Monday at work. The sun is out (yea!) and looks like good weather the rest of the week with highs in the 80's and no rain. I was so nice yesterday, I mowed my yard and two of my neighbors (one away on vacation and the other is 78).2 points

Happy Monday all! Great day for coffee in the far Pacific Northwest as it is pouring down rain! (For us). Lots to do at work this week, leave for a family vacation/reunion on Thursday - headed your way tarheel. Atlanta then driving to Wilmington and Wrighstville Beach! Hoping for sun, but a couple of coastal NC thunderstorms would be fun as well! Have a great week!2 points

The Brits had some great looking cars in the '60's. I recall drooling over the Jags, MG's etc. but also bemoaning the fact that I was just a kid with a part-time grocery job and no funds. Have a good week gang. Will check back.2 points

Enough folks here geographically want to move a fair amount of stuff. From a preamp, to Jubilees ++. Different shipping methods are best for different situations. It WOULD be a help to put up a central (maybe sticky) post on shipping. But, I don't know best way to do it. I would contribute by giving my UShip experience details, , including links from others (RE: Uship) I was totally scared of using it (Never heard of them before, saw many online said it was a "Scam" , untill I spent a few hours investigating, and found the "scam" had nothing to do w Uship itself, then used them. Could not have been better. No need for others to spin the same wheels needlessly. I see It happenning here all the time. We could for example, post specs of 2 or three typical loads, differing shipping carriers, starting at "40 Lb amp" to "LaScalas" to like an MCM setup. No, I think you all know I don't work for UShip, but may know, I did have a great experience w them, as a few other members. Mods - Should, and can, we do this? Lars2 points

An enclosed box is much better than a stand with legs, i.e., a cavity under the La Scalas. La Scalas don't have a lot of output below 60-70 Hz. There's not much to lose if you don't already have them in a corner to begin with. Chris2 points

I inherited a pair of Klipsch RF7ii speakers from the estate of a friend. He bought these new just one year ago. These are utterly fantastic, audiophile speakers that are too large for my apartment. They are in tip-top shape, with only a few cosmetic scuffs here and there and a small 1-inch scrape on the side of one speaker and a few scrapes on top of the same speaker. I've posted pictures of the minor scrapes, which are not noticeable when the speakers are standing in a room. Description http://www.klipsch.com/products/reference-ii-floorstanding-speakers I am selling both speakers for $1000 CASH. These sell for $1600/each on the Klipsch Web site. They are priced to sell. First come first served. I live in a high rise in West Loop. I'm available 6pm-10pm weekdays and anytime over the weekend. If you are reading this, they are available. http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/ele/5620207008.html No Affiliation. Great deal.1 point

As for rights and lefts... I've heard systems with no DSP/delay magic where voices and drums seemed to come from right in front of you in the middle of the dash just like a nicely imaged home system would sound. Of course he also won IASCA nationals, not all will sound anywhere near that nice. Afterwards, most of his equipment went into my car since we drove the same thing. Anyway, angles and center channels go a long way. Yes, center channels in vehicles. As for the rears, kids nowadays have access to cheap DSP's that let you do this easily, but realistically you just don't need much. If you turn them down and only use them for rear fill it just doesn't matter much. When I was winning trophies I didn't even have full range speakers in the rear, only midbass.1 point

I have edited the title and made this post sticky. Will leave it pinned if it continues to prove useful. Please limit posts and replies to Pony Express requests, advice, and offers to help. Dave1 point

Thanks for all the responses. I have just pushed it back in for now and will get some glue later today. I plugged it in this morning and like all the Klipsch products I own, the sound is amazing. Just the right amount of base for my Boston Acoustic bookshelf speakers1 point

I wish that was on that path to help. calhockey10 is holding a pair of HUGE EV horns for me. I would do the same for other members. Hopefully this will work for you. bump1 point

As Chris said, avoid having a cavity under the La Scalas. Enclosing any legs you put under them with very rigid board would be good. Then put the tweeters at seated ear level. If your ceiling is less than about 8 feet, put some absorption in the first reflection point on the ceiling. Consider using a sub.1 point

You ask, I tell. I currently have an XPA-5 that works well in HT mode with Belles. If you want something cleaner in 2 channel with Belles go elsewhere. I had XPA-1 monos with the Belles and that was BAD due to gain idle noise. With that said why do you you think you need all that power with Klipsch? I did it as an experiment; it failed where big power from Yamaha and McIntosh worked but lower power but better build sounded better.1 point

Not only will it not work, it could destroy the amp. Don't even think about it. Listen to Colterphoto1. He knows of what he speaks.1 point

Today I decided to make an unboxing and initial setup video of the DJI Phantom 4. I can certainly appreciate the changes DJI has made from it's predecessor, the Phantom 3. Stay tuned for more videos.1 point

Spotify Premium here. Tried them all. A little digital EQ and sounds just as good as Tidal or even cd's for that matter. It's been a little scary in how reliable Spotify has been for me. All the services I've tried had some sort of glitch....especially Tidal. It would always lock up and was slow to buffer. That was then.....maybe it's better now....don't really care though....Spotify works for me. I listen to it probably 90% of the time if not more. Sent from my SM-G920R4 using Tapatalk1 point

OK another pic for Steve since he is a Raiders fan. . When my brother and sister in law moved here from Alaska and decided to stay they had to change license plates and they gave me the old one's, this is from his wife's jeep, she is a Raiders fan but I still like her. smart lady. for those never having had the opportunity to visit the coliseum in Oakland...crossing from freeway via an overhead walkway with barbed wire along the top, you approach an ugly gray cement building. It looks like you’re walking into a prison. Most of the chicks are scary looking too. That’s Oakland. Better to go to a day game, night games require you to go back to the BART station which is where this guy once scared the crap out of me and i was on the second floor of the station and he was in his car at a stop sign. I still split as fast as i could.1 point

That's very cool, especially the pattern. I learned something today! I used that burn technique on horse stalls a few years ago, but I used a flamethrower type of torch, 500k BTUs!1 point
