  2. Sunset over Lake Michigan at Point Betsie Lighthouse Frankfort, MI. The attached photos appear in the reverse order from how I attached them. The freighter photo is fuzzy because it was merely a speck on the horizon until I used the "telephoto" feature of the Samsung Galaxy S6. I still prefer using a camera that cannot also order a pizza, but the quality of phone pics is now so good it makes it harder to justify always carrying a real camera,

  3. well unfortunately for some, cryptic is not good. not necessarily doing it to be cryptic. i really just wonder what you and others will hear that makes one go backward in choosing networks that were by the way, chosen by mr k himself. i will always take pauls word and his thoughts over anyone deciding, without any kind of measuring equipment, other than ears to make the judgement call. not that ears are not an important part of the evaluation chain, but that doing that in an environment that is less than ideal. one thing that i do remember to do is to listen to speakers with different kinds of types of musics in order to see if where the improvement was done is being excited. just so you know, paul in his later years began to understand the advantages of steep filters in order to minimize the overlap band and would tutor me and would want my feedback and how to figure out a way to validate or invalidate to see if this would something we should pursue. shallow slope filters can cause so many lobes to develop between two sections of the speaker. it also allows the devices to tend to operate at extreme ends of their capabilities. i guess that is why intially the hertiage speakers were rated for 100 watts. and deciding to choose expensive, and supposedly better components, can be misleading. if the elements do actually present some sort of advantage, what does that do the freq response curve as compared to the ref curve? i have said repeatedly, that if the freq response is altered then the values need to be adjusted until the freq response is back to the ref curve. THAT is more of a meaningful evaluation. if you dont adjust the freq response, then why not just an eq to system and adjust to flavor. in essence, adding an element that actually does have a parameter that changes the freq response, is the same thing. i have done so much work in this field to just support that someone change something to our klipsch speakers to say... that is an upgrade. the measurements should guide you and should validate what you hear. i still want to hear from others what they hear in the comparison. i am and will always be curious.......

  9. I just confirmed today with an inside sales rep from Klipsch that all these eBay open box / B stock speakers that are openly advertised with a big discount only have a very limited and strict 90 day warranty even if it is from an authorized seller. Actually it's even on their website: http://www.klipsch.com/b-stock-warranty You're not getting the 5 year warranty that new speakers have if you buy B-stock or open box on eBay.

  11. Observations about maximizing loudspeaker-room performance: I've found that if the strong early reflections (i.e., within ~2.5 ms delay or one yard/metre distance) are well controlled via room absorption/diffusion and controlled midrange and midbass horn directivity, the entire room's sound becomes clear, spacious, and detailed. If anyone walks into that intervening space (90 degrees left to 90 degrees right of centerline...well outside the lay-line to the loudspeakers), the distortion of the ambience of the room is immediately apparent and very disturbing of the listening experience. However, in rooms where the early reflections are not controlled, the room's sound is confused, opaque, and insensitive to all but someone walking directly in front of one or more loudspeakers. In rooms with too much absorption--especially on the side walls--the room sounds clear and detailed, but not "ambient" and sensitive to someone walking in from the sides outside of the direct lines to the loudspeakers. This is a high price to pay for overdoing the absorption. This effect is quite pronounced, and it is the way that I use to immediately determine the acoustics in listening rooms that are new to me. Getting the room set up well acoustically makes all the difference in the world in the listening experience. Doing the acoustic treatment and loudspeaker positioning wrong will nullify the performance of even the best loudspeakers that money can buy...although loudspeakers with good directivity control do much better in cluttered rooms, such as full-range multiple-entry horns like Danley's and DIY multiple-entry horns, and full-range conventional multi-way horns, i.e., Jubilee, Khorn, La Scala, and Belle. 19. The scene he is referring to has the best, most detailed surround sound I have ever heard. We only have 5.1, but there were about 5 terrifying loci on each of our side walls, and some way above, even though our surrounds' tweeters are only about 2.5 feet above our ears. [This is known to be possible; Chesky put out a demo disc about 10 years ago with a vertical dimension demonstrated, and that demo was only 2 channel!]

  26. Corey, welcome to the forum. I would go for the RP-260F over the R-28F. The "reference" line is just the old Best Buy consumer oriented "icon" line rebadged while the "reference premier" line is the new replacement for the old "reference II" line. I'd recommend calling Acoustic Sound Design to make sure you're getting the best deal.
