  2. Klipsch RF-83 in excellent condition. These have been wrapped in blankets stored in a closet most of their life. If I had to guess they probably have 20 hours on them. SOLD B&W 802's have sold. Im located in Staten Island NY. I do have a truck, so I could possibly help with delivery in the tristate area. I will not ship. Bring some music and check them out. Any questions just ask. Please discuss pricing via PM's.

  3. OK, so last month I finally decided to quit reading all the hype about Hypex and to put my money where my ears are. I sent off $1,500 and change yonder to the netherlands via Paypal and waited patientyly. After owning every classic, refurbished amp out there, all big names, kits, tubes, class AB, First Watt Class A space heater and current sound champ, chip amps, blah blah blah hearing my friend's Audio Research $10,000 Stereo Class D power amp (too rich for my blood), I decided to take the plunge with Hypex, since I can't afford to play in the sandbox with the high end crowd. The kits arrived today in a 14 lb. box. Hard to believe these NC400 modules put out 400 super clean watts with super high efficiency. No soldering gun was required and the kit was assembled in 2 hours with just a few tools. The instructions are basically pictures on 1 sheet both sides and you only need a few tools to do it. When I plugged these into my MEH horns, they were dead quiet. Yes, I know we only need a few watts with horns, but having BOTH the First Watt Quality AND huge headroom not attainable with other class amplifiers makes things very interesting indeed. Holy Crap!!! Depth, Micro Detail, Jump out of your chair TRANSIENTS, killer bass detail for tracking every note, the Air on Cymbals, the vocal clarity it's all there in spades. I going through all my standard test recordings and just shaking my head. More later...................I'm enjoying the music as never before. Sell all the amplifiers you have a get a pair of these. I don't care which Klipsch speakers you own, you will thank me for this.

  11. My wife hasn't gotten used to the one I have now. I ran some frequency tests and when I hit 30 and below, she complained that the whole house was shaking. That was only at 75 db. But, there is plenty of space on the other side of my setup for one. Helps with nulls, gain 3db, looks cooler, hmmmm..

  13. Today's brew is a medium roast Peruvian, fresh flaked I mean ground, nice cheap coffee beans courtesy of Aldi. Starting the second pail. It has less of an edge than central American coffees tend to give. But I'm feelin' it, just like Lou Reed sings.

  14. Evening all, Just got back from a great dinner with The BOSS, youngest daughter, son, his girlfriend, my mom and dad, and two of our good friends. It was a birthday celebration for me and my youngest daughter. My eldest daughter stop in the restaurant with my two grand kids just to say hi. We had dinner at this Japanese steak house that we go to quite a bit. We know most off the staff & owner so we don't have to behave. Also had a good day at the shop. yea Carl... work has been picking up quite a bit. and I'm good with one or two jobs a day. It just get real scary when I see only one or two jobs booked for the week..... that aint enough even for a one man shop. I've stopped trying to figure it out and just enjoy the fact that we have traffic through our drive. For real.... My busiest month ever at the shop has been a December. Go figure, I don't know how or why. It used to be that tax return time and the beginning of summer "was" the busiest time but it's just not so any more. Right OK...... later MKP :-)

  15. agree, your order looks perfect as it is. No reason to switch to an earlier design model just for a larger woofer. There are components in the 450C that match exactly to the rest of the setup, while the RC64 would sound find and work, it's not an exact match.

  16. I can't agree more about cabinetry you mentioned. I'm into speaker business in my own country and I just tried myself to see if I can build something similar to Volti when it comes to woodworking. with all the limitation in Iran - no paper-backed veneer, no veneer glue, no vacuum press I just had to invent everything from scratch! - I did it and the result turned out to be liked by just everybody here. building a Bruce Edgar type of horn is piece a cake (check this out: link). and building a folded horn by mixing a Belle and LS with a curved side is not that big deal. I did it to prove this could be done and here is the result: and now I have a more efficient way to laminate plywood to form curved panel and I can build a pair of these in less than two weeks actual working hours but I'm not gonna do this. I'm not gonna rip off someones ideas even if his idea is a rip off of Klipsch designs. but I guess we still can comment on the price right? I don't think putting together a Faital Pro 15PR400 with a BSM4592-Mid behind a wooden horn and a Faital Pro HF10AK behind an 18Sound XT120 elliptic horn and using a XOver from NRE and putting everything in folded cabinet Mark Kravchenko did in Hornresp is a big deal if you ask 4-5x of the real price. Maybe many of you are not aware of driver-making companies price lists. I do business with most of the European companies like Faital Pro, Beyma, B&C, BMS and some others but not mentioning the price details something like Vittora could be built for about 5000USD in my country with all the craftsmanship and all the drivers Volti uses including labor cost and everything. how about a version with a single piece curved walls from right to left? Rival is not an exception. it's a Cornscala with a little bit of cosmetics and high heels. You can still build a speaker using Eliptrac horn with a BMS driver and use some nice woofs and a tweeter like Faital Pro Hf108 or HF10AK and for about $2K you'll have a great speaker. just my $0.02

  40. very good way to wind coils. he sure knows what he does. but you know what winding perfect coils is all about control. if you feed the wire by hands you can't keep the wire tension steady so there is always a lot of possibility that wire will slip so it will be place in elsewhere than it's right position in the bobbin. when you control everything the wire has no way other than being placed precisely among previous turns. will result in a gapless coil. thanks bro for your promotion actually that's a Bachi Winder machine. Actually Bachi machine is the best thing we ever found on the planet. it's totally the best winding machine a coil and inductor manufacturer can thing about. but it costs about $38K and would end up something about $80K if we wanted to buy it from Iran. that's right. Oh thanks dude! Thanks George, Yes actually it's a lathe machine with a computer controlled wire feeding mechanism. for control system I'm gonna use a PLC. the PLC will have a HMI (Human Machine Interface) which is a 7" touchscreen display (you see it on the Bachi in the video at post #1). this is what a HMI looks like: Yes there will be an encoder for counting spindle turns. About braking. the main motor which is a 3-phase three horse power motor has an electrical control brake. the PLC will take of brake automatically. the motor itself is not variable (I think you mean a variable motor by "vector motor"?) I hope I'm not in a language barrier about vector motor. as I said the motor itself is not variable but we will have an inverter that controls motor speed. the PLC also takes care of inverter as well.

  42. thanks bro yes actually we need a lot of coils. Iran is #12 biggest producer of copper in the world so why not. we have copper wire 99.999% purity so we can build inductors here and save a lot. to be honest designing and building this machine is a little bit a long time personal game and we can also save a lot of money so why not!

  45. This is the side of the building with the steps going down on the left side and to the right of the old non working AC is where the elevator shaft comes out, right in front of those double doors. We are thinking that back right door will be where the handicapped accessible entrance will be. That area from the old AC (which will be removed) by that bulkhead wall at the bottom of the pic (low spot) going to back stairs of the building , will be filled with crushed rock donated by the cement company. A ramp will be made to go over the back stairs, once that area from the stairs to that bulkhead wall is raised, we should have a good slope to make the handicapped accessible ramp. The front door is right on the driveway and has no room for this ramp to work. That large, old AC on the side porch has not worked forever and will be removed, that window unit in the pic is the old but working unit, the new one is out the back on the other side of the building. I am just trying to slightly explain some of the things going on so everyone has an idea of what we're doing at the museum. All volunteer and doing everything we can to stretch every dollar to make this be the best we possibly can. This story of PWK is quite amazing when you look at everything that is going to be housed in this building, for everyone who has ever seen what is in the museum already, and for the past many years, you have only seen a small part of of the artifacts that will be there, much more than the many models of speakers already in the museum, but a ridiculous amount of articles, pictures, and general things from PWK's life and the history of the company he started. He never threw away much of anything, all the way back to his days in school and all throughout his life, which is perfect for for a museum to set up so everyone can see and get an idea of the real man behind the legend. Ane the more I see the more I understand, it's no Bullshit, he is truly a legend. One idea is eventually put many things online, so people who can not make it in person can still learn of the history and accomplishments of PWK, we just want the true story to be preserved and shared, it's well worth it, even if you're not particularly into audio.

  46. @Schu I actually just sold my RC64II and use the la scalas without it until I can find an appropriate heritage center. I swear it sounds like there is a center channel there. The way the La Scalas image and the way my Pioneer Elite SC-68 has corrected for the lack of center is amazing.

  47. I used a rc64 with both cornwall fronts and LSii fronts... you can eq much of the mismatch out to the point where it sounds really good, but it will always be slightly different sounding due to timbre matching issues. This is not more evident until you actually get another heritage center to match, then it becomes nearly seamless. Id kill for that single birch la scala for sale in portland right now... its the right price and in the perfect condition to add as a center in my system to replace my heresys.
