'87 would have an AL variant, did not have zeners. Check the solder joint where the 125µH runs into the lower 2µF and then runs to the tweeter + connection. When this connection has a cold joint the speaker will keep blowing tweeters like mad.2 points

Few people have reported power outages so I decided to unhook all electronics in the home theater and my 2ch setup. Wind is picking up but nothing major here yet. Should be hitting us very late this evening or super early on Monday. Stinks it will be at night. I would much prefer to see what is going on outside but I guess I don't get a choice.2 points

Checking in from South Florida. Not really worried about the wind. The eye is moving to our west and this is a newer home built to withstand cat. 5 winds, but you never know about the flooding, so I had to take action to protect my babies. I disconnected everything.2 points

Yeah, but Manning is funnier than Brady. Be sure and watch his Superbowl Party Gone Bad vid as well. It's hilarious.2 points

@dwilawyer and @jimjimbo .. we started working with our goat today and managed to get a few oz before she started to just sit down on our hands/milk pail. Filtered and chilled it before having a sample. Nice and creamy, good whole milk but without the thickness of cow's milk. Flavor was a little sweet, but otherwise pretty standard and not "goaty" whatsoever. Hoping to start filling our half gallon mason jars soon!2 points

I was going to make near the same comment. There has been an eBay'er in the past selling "rare" Klipshorns using this same young "ladies" photo as a "cum on" (so to speak). That may actually be the same photo. No, don't know her name. Yes, she is a porn star.2 points

We are all trying to remain positive by keeping ourselves busy. We went walking this evening, the kids played Monopoly, grandpa is watching Western movies in the HT and me....I figured I would share my thoughts in a video.2 points

Posting this for SSH (Steve) who had the idea that developed into the current member-driven Pilgrimage. Like so many, his storage has been used up. Dave PappyIII and I left the Mustang behind and set out in the Yukon on a less-than-ninety mile drive to the Klipsch Museum. If you're not picking up something at the plant, the roads are great for a sports car or motorcycle. At the Museum, we had a fantastic visit with Historian Jim Hunter. If you haven't utilized the "Ask the Historian" section of the Forum, shame on you. He greets and entertains visitors with a friendly, but encyclopedic knowledge of Paul and all. We talked Jim into a lunch break at the Williams Tavern Resturant a short drive away. The three of us recommend it. The Old Washington Historical State Park is a great place to visit (with kids, too). Since we had an ulterior motive, Jim helped us with it. This is the second pair of speakers loaded. With help from a dolly and my neighbor, Early, they are about to take the place of a pair of LaS that I bought from Dee a few years ago. They look much better out of the boxes. Awesome! Hooked to a pair of top-of-the-line Marantz separates, the Cornwall IIIs seem to be as happy as I am. End of chapter, beginning of chapter. SSH1 point

Long time user of the internet but I've never joined a group before…a first for me so empathy if I'm posting in the wrong place please. Mesmerized by the La Scala units as an early teen but life was a little rough back then and the price put this want in the "when I get rich" category. I turn 50 this year and while I will always be poor in my mind, I can afford to buy a set. Before I start looking for new or used, I wanted to explore building a pair as I have a lot of woodworking equipment and am blessed with skills to go with it. I see posts on plans / components / general advice but it looks to be from 2007. Can someone point me in the right direction for the latest or all-inclusive section on building LaScala's? Looking forward to learning and hopefully contributing.1 point

As it stands now, it is looking to hit us as either a Cat 2 or possibly a Cat 1. It's probably a great thing that it didn't hug the coastline all the way up Florida. Hoping this will greatly help out our folks on the West Coast. Still not out of this yet.1 point

Keep us informed as conditions allow. It's about to get busy there and we'll all be on pins and needles awaiting your status. Dave1 point

I know that conventional wisdom asks for big room for Khorns but my current basement den is certainly smaller than the living rooms I used them before - and I am totally sure that they never sounded as good before - and they always had propper corner placement. Otherwise the pros and cons of both alternatives have been mentioned already.1 point

Those beaches without water is kind of odd looking. Glad it's dropped it's rating down to a 2....hopefully it doesn't pick up steam. The Weather Channel's Mike Seidel was hanging onto a tree earlier today during his live remote. Those guys like to get right in it.1 point

Thankfully, Irma hit Naples, FL as a Cat 2 which is good for them and very good for us.1 point

Welcome to the forum! There is a wealth of knowledge here in regards to Klipsch and building them DIY as well. I'm in the same boat as I'm building a pair of Belles because I can't seem to find any reasonable enough locally. So, I amassed all of the parts, new K-33 woofers, K-55-v mids & K500 horns, Crites CT-120 tweeters, Type AA crossovers (new caps too), and the Belle top grill assembly. Just got to get the Baltic birch and get rolling now. The plans from 2007 are probably correct as they haven't changed much since their inception so you should be good to go.1 point

As my late father would say, describing Peyton as being funnier than Tom is damning with faint praise. Gisele is funnier than Tom, but then, she comes from a long line of famous German comedians.1 point

We tried to get her to come up here. Me and my two brothers tried like crazy to get her to let us go and get her but she insisted on staying. She is 81 and said she can't handle the long ride. We are all nervous as hell about this Thank you for your prayers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Why is that? The LaScalas are already 3' in the air. Laying them across the RSW-15's seems like the best solution.1 point

I hope you all stay safe, just make sure you can get out somewhere if the water becomes higher than expected, everything else can be replaced. I say this because in the past some have been trapped, mostly because they went into an attic, this is a bad idea unless you have something to cut or break through the roof to escape. Be safe1 point

We have decided to take shelter in my daughter's bedroom as it is sandwiched between two bedrooms and should offer more security than our master closet or laundry room. We decided to board up the outside of her window. I will bring the RF-7ii and lay them on top of the LaScala Trio as that would keep them high up. My son's RF-7's will be placed on top of the theater chairs. My only concern is if the sliding glass door breaks, the entire room will get wet. Maybe I should put them in the master closet? Just no telling how much damage the storm might do. It's been awesome over the past few days how everyone is helping each other out. I've even had forum members reach out to me offering help and their prayers. Regardless of what happens, we are remaining positive and we have a lot of Christians in our neighborhood that are joining us in prayer as we prepare to embrace what Irma may bring. I will post here as soon as I can to let everyone know we are doing.1 point

Well I my mind was made up. I was going to get the La Scala speakers. Then last night I read the forum on "La Scala: King of imaging in the Heritage Line?" and a bunch of other subjects. It seems that most of y'all own the Khorns and feel they are the best of all. Many of you guys seem to feel the La Scala are a little lacking in the bass response and I like a good bass response. So maybe I should save a little longer and get the Khorns??? Is a room that is 19 x 15 w/ 8 ft ceiling big enough for khorns? I do have two good corners I could put them in. I would hate to go 85% of the way to a dream I had since I was about 14 yrs old (to own khorns & a Marantz receiver w/ the silver face & blue lights - only now I want a tube amp) and then stop short and regret it. I thought the La Scala would sound very close to the thorns with the added benefit of placement freedom (to a certain degree). What to do?1 point

I have relatives in the Ft Meyers and Tampa area, they all went to my Dad's house in Panama City Beach. They thought it would've been safer there, but now that the storm shifted west, they might move farther west. I hope everyone stays safe.1 point

They should be made to pay the entire monetary cost of every instance of I.D. theft connected with the hack. That would teach them something about proper security procedures instead of profit. JJK1 point

Start small. Buy a restored Sony str 7055. Full well rounded, laid back with a tube sound with fat bottom. No need to adjust bass. Then buy a Marantz. "Better" sound, clean, neutral, cool with a firmer tighter bass. Then buy McIntosh.... People never seem to go back to any suggestions once they buy a Mac. Lol. I wish I could advise you on the sound of a Mac but I REALLY don't want to leave what I have. I like them! Good luck.1 point

Thanks for everyone's input. I ordered the Cornwall III's. They shipped today. I picked the Cornwall's mainly due to the comments on the large size of room they are going in.1 point
