  1. Kind of amusing how each generation or half-generation is now pigeon-holed into an arbitrary category decided by self appointed generational experts. I care less as to what your age group is classified - a douchebag is a douchebag is a douchebag supersedes any and all generation placeholders -- ?! And you can spot 'em a mile away ---

  3. It happens, you realize you don't heal as fast and pain sucks and slows you down even more. I realize how old I am when I work outside and feel like I am done after a couple of hours, or inside, getting up and down off the floor while working on something, then seeing how you feel that night, like you actually did something more than you did. You know your old when you wake up and something hurts because you slept funny .

  20. Well thanks for replies all, ended up ordering the Yamaha A-S801, seems to be a good bang for the buck in this price range - and Emotiva had 3+ months delivery. Currently borrowing my dads old Sherwood AD260B while waiting for the delivery, which i think sounds pretty nice on these speakers

  21. I have worn it upside down (in my house, not in public). Interesting thing about the Breitling Cosmonaut is that it is a 24 hour watch. If you are not a total watch nerd you might be thinking aren't all watches? It has a 24 hour dial, not 12 so the hour hand only goes around once per day not twice. Not unique to Breitling there are lots of 24 hour dials out there....but the Breitling Cosmonaut was conceived by Scott Carpenter (2nd American to orbit the earth) as a way to distinguish day from night in outer space. Takes some getting used to, at noon the hands are straight up and down from each other so at a casual glance if you don't remember what watch you are wearing it looks like 6:00. Quick what time is it on this watch???

  27. Yeah Dave, I think you can still find plenty of three and five channel amps in the $500-$650 range depending on age and remaining warranty. If you use hifishark.com, buya.com, and searchtempest.com you can cover a lot of the bases for new listed amps for sale. Some of the best deals are buy it now offers where the seller is below market value and it becomes first come first served.

  28. I picked up the XPA-5 from a nurse somewhere around Washington, DC. It was a XPA-5 Gen1. It was not a CL sale, some local ad site that someone alerted me to. @teaman is far better on Emotiva prices than I am, but I would budget around $600 for a used one. Tim, can you comment?

  32. Funny thing about efficient speakers... You do not NEED a lot of power, BUT the woofer ALWAYS knows what to do with the extra watts. And it is noticeable. “Commanding” is the word that comes to mind.

  33. That looks much better than poop and needles. Sorry just trying to remind you why you moved so you don't go back. https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Diseased-Streets-472430013.html As the Investigative Unit photographed nearly a dozen hypodermic needles scattered across one block, a group of preschool students happened to walk by on their way to an afternoon field trip to city hall. “We see poop, we see pee, we see needles, and we see trash,” said teacher Adelita Orellana. “Sometimes they ask what is it, and that’s a conversation that’s a little difficult to have with a 2-year old, but we just let them know that those things are full of germs, that they are dangerous, and they should never be touched.” In light of the dangerous conditions, part of Orellana’s responsibilities now include teaching young children how to avoid the contamination.

  34. I did janitorial at the bowlng alley for a couple years. It was casual once they decided to do it my way. They had me scheduled to work 10PM - 6AM. It only took 3 or 4 hours to clean the place. Got them to change my hours to 4AM - Noon. That gave them 3 hours more useful time. I bartended, cooked, learned the desk, mechanic ... upper level mgt fought me the whole time. And I still had free time to socialize with the customers.

  36. I didn't think the bottom plates looked right so I went with black and I think it looks much better. These took a very long time. I'm only just learning to build amps and only just learning woodworking. I am master of none but interested in all lol..... Now they are both done and tested. They are heading to one of the big systems this weekend.
