  3. Guys: This forum is the "Garage Sale". It is meant for buying and selling. The OP can ask whatever price they want, it is none of our business. If you think the price is too high then it is simple - don't buy them. Let's show some respect and courtesy.

  5. Kelly, I'm sorry for the passing of your husband. He had some nice speakers and they do have some value. They are highly prized for their great look and sound. I fully agree with you that some members have responded with skepticism to your ad. As I said we have very knowledgeable people here who track Khorn prices, including me. Whoever advised you to list the Khorns here for $6000 and on other sites for $4500 gave you terrible advice. I hope you can see how it must look, not very good. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm trying to be honest in the hopes you can move the Khorns on to someone who loves them as much as your husband did and will cherish and take care of them. We have had others post Klipsch speakers here for sale after the loss of a loved one and the wives and children who must now sell these items often don't know what they have or know how to go about selling such specialized speakers. Letting go of some items your husband loved is like letting go of him which can be very difficult and painful. Unless a person has gone through it none of us can truly understand what that must feel like. If I can be of some further help to you in selling your speakers, let me know. -Dave

  6. First, I'm very sorry about your loss. Second, I have found this place to be unnecessarily hard on new members and pricing and I am sorry for that. I doubt the comments would have been as harsh if they hadn't seen the facebook page with the lower price. Typically things are offered here at a discount over posting on other sites. However, you are free to offer them for whatever you wish. It is very cool that you have a pair of nice oak Klipschorns with Paul's signature. Good luck with your sale.

  8. We've had others here, some very nice people who have inherited Klipsch speakers who don't know how to value them so I give the Seller the benefit of the doubt. If Kelly wants some help selling the Khorns, we can help with advice on valuation, presentation and pictures. If not, a price has been set and the fair market will determine what they are worth and Kelly will see how fast they will sell.

  11. --- the irony of many comments is Forum Members don't seem to mind when a seller says "price for forum members" when it is several hundred Less than that would be listed on the audio sites. She worked in reverse thinking people here would pay more for a sig pair of KHorns. Its a free market, pricing is the sellers call, not ours. And I'd bet most people commenting Aren't buyers anyway. Jeez, leave her be and move on ----

  13. Kelly Laubon, Sorry if I came across crass, maybe I'm getting to be a curmudgeon, but I stand by my estimates on value as accurate. The market does fluctuate from area to area though, Florida for example is a buyers market and Klipsch speakers can be found often, and cheap. I am from Ohio and have bought and sold multiple pairs of Klipschorns including two pair in Oak as your husbands are. They look very well taken care of. My last pair of Oiled Oaks were 1998 models and they also were flawless. Sorry for your personal loss and best of luck with getting a good price for them. Roger

  14. Sometimes everyone here expects everyone else to be up on their "Klipsch" game, yet they fail to realize that there are some owners and indirect owners that don't live and breathe the world of Klipsch on a daily basis, but still they enjoy the heck out of them. Don't take too much stock in some of the straight forward remarks, although they come across as rude and insensitive, most of these guys would drop everything and come give you a hand with anything involving your speakers if they were locals. Good luck with the sale as the pair is very nice and well matched veneer. There was a reason PWK signed those K's and he didn't just hang around signing all the K-horns that made an exit.

  16. They look similar to the Heresy HIP (Heresy Industrial Ported) but the woofer and woofer placement is wrong, so is the back panel and the port appears to be too large but its hard to tell for sure. I'd remove the back panels and look at the crossovers and drivers used, may give you some clues.

  18. A lot of audiophools, snobs, disparagingly refer to Klipsch as PA speakers. I just spent a couple hours enjoying the KP-201 PA speakers I bought for the middle school band room. I could listen to PA speakers like that the rest of my life. If loud and clear = PA, then Klipsch is guilty as charged.

  19. Trades? What do you think? This is my basement . The pathways being created by piles of speakers scream “hoarders.” The subject H2s are in the garage. The photo shows KP-201s, HIPs, and DIY “Super Heresys,” not including TH subs and sundry Fostex speakers. The only trade my wife would consider would send me to the Mud Hens in exchange for a starting pitcher.

  21. Kelly; sorry for your loss and for the "unfriendly" introduction here. But ... have to give you one more explanation. We often see "newbies" on this site who have found some Klipsch speakers for almost nothing at garage sales, etc. Then they try to get BIG $$'s for their find here since most of us Klipsch "nuts" frequent this site. Be assured, just about all members here are very honorable and honest people - on this site to assist others. Equipment here is usually offered "way below" eBay prices as we want "our stuff" to have a good home, rather than making a quick buck. Hope this helps. Best wishes, Emile

  28. Would you consider getting a pedestal built with some 2"x 8" wood? This would be extremely strong and would fit over the center speaker of your choice on the top shelf. I am just trying to be creative because I know how important quality sound is to me. I had a similar problem with space. I had some large speakers that wouldn't fit the room so I put them overhead using a pair of 2x4's eight feet long that I stained. If they will hold 216 pounds worth of CF-4's and a 65 pound center speaker they will probably hold your HDTV safely.

  31. Thanks for the info! I appreciate you taking the time, and I took your advice... The CF3's really are great sounding speakers, and we love them already. Suddenly we can hear what the people on TV are saying. It's fabulous. This was good advice! The Heresies (Heresi?) are rat rods. Some delamination in the plywood, bad black paint jobs, but both of them sound incredible. The serial numbers are 90T731 and 90T547. If I was correct in my reading, the letter "T" is for 1979? Anyway, I talked him down to $160 on the pair, and brought them home with me. Some carpenter's glue, clamping, wood putty, sanding, primer and paint will set them to rights. The sound was clear and VERY loud. Quite impressive for such small speakers. They weigh a ton, and I am guessing that there are some good sized magnets and horns. The grill cloth and frames seem to be glued in place, and the logo plates were glued to the top wood rail area, centered. All of this can be corrected, obviously. It doesn't matter to me how they look as much as how they sound. And they sound VERY good. They blow the Bose 901's out of the park.

  32. Definitely update with your impressions. Like I said, it doesn't sound bad but I've gotten so used to not being able to localize the center channel that it just seemed wrong to my ears in my setup.

  33. Would keeping the grill on hide that? Is the finish black lacquer? I'll bet some wood filler, then black paint brushed on would take a lot of the ugliness away. That's a shame, very nice speakers.

  36. I use an RCA Yagi antenna in the attic. It was super easy to install. I found the coax connection to the TV in the attic and simply plugged it into my antenna. I rotated it to point toward Angleton (where all the broadcasting towers are). Now, I get 120 channels in HD for free OTA. Same old thing - "57 channels and nothing on..." That's why I can't see why anyone would pay $100/mo. to watch the boob toob. You must really like TV to pay so dearly for it. To each his own. I find the content on cable to be as abominable as that which is OTA. I use TV for background while I surf the net. Sometimes, something interesting will be on to watch - like a good PBS show, or something. I can corroborate Carl and say that I am getting great reception from about 40 miles from the towers. The model antenna I have is this one.

  41. --- but there can be varying degrees of being vegetarian - in California one might eat kale, baby spinach, asparagus, broccoli, and all other manner of green, leafy things. In Arkansas one eats a 12oz. T-bone vs.16oz. and only 2 slabs of bacon per week vs. 4. It's all relative to ones environment ---.
