I have been a die hard Infinity fan for years but recently had a chance to hear a set of K horns. I was amazed at how effortlessly they played. They were hooked to a home theater Reciever so I knew it could be so much better. I posted an ad in the Garage looking for a set and a Gentleman that lived only an hour and a half drive had a pair of beautiful 86' in oiled walnut. I purchased them and brought them home. I have always heard the negative bullshit about them being harsh and honky so I had doubts. Also the you can't run them on SS Amps. Well I use a Krell Kct preamp with a Fpb400cx amp with cast connections. All I can say is wow. They are fantastic. Excellant highs no shrillness at all. Great bass. The music sounds so natural. I have a set of Primaluna Prolouge 6 Amps so I am gonna try tubes on them as well. I have kt-120 as well as El-43 tubes to use with them.3 points

The wife is selling her husband's beloved Klipsch Forte's! SHE says there is no room for them in the new downsized apartment. I bet HE could find someplace for them.3 points

I had one many years ago hooked up to a pair of Marantz mono blocks. Wish I would have never sold them.2 points

I'm the thread starter so I fixed it for you. There is no such thing as luck excepting maybe in card games and Futbol(oh sorry, soccer) Thanks everyone for all the compliments and suggestions. I know I still have to get these better dialed in. More will be revealed as they say.2 points

Buy used. It's unlikely you'll get the one you really want right off the bat. Buying used allows to experiment with different amps with little to no loss upon resale if you buy wisely and decided to try something else.2 points

This is fun. In times past, I have bought and sold items in the garage sale thread through PM's. I do feel negptiations should be held between buyer and seller; onlookers are just that, onlookers. What matters in the deal is the interaction between the 2 parties. Others just get in the way, regardless of their intentions. If a party wants to buy the speakers, he should contact the seller separately. If one wants to comment on the item, he is free to do so within the limits of the forum. If one does not have anything to contribute to the conversation, he should keep his comments to himself. And if your purpose is to trash a seller, or his sale, you are not contributing to the conversation. My $.02 worth.2 points

The k 402 wants to be the multicell ! And the speaker was made in the 40's... And made from wood ! So it just shows you that we have not advanced in speaker technology.. just cheap re cycled soda bottles.. melted mold injected plastic horn... And your not even talking about these !2 points

Yes it could of course be that. Audio memory (at least mine) is so allusive(is that the correct word?) I'm in Roy's demo room in Hope going Wow! those sound really good. Or I'm at Trent's house in Idaho going Wow! those sound really good. Then I'm back home with my KHorns and Lascalas saying Wow! this sounds pretty darn good also. But now I've had Jubes in the same room where my KHorns and Lascalas were/are and they sound better. The K402 of course but I was surprised how much better the bass sounds.2 points

Here the anti siphon valve is typically set up with one big one for the whole system. It has to be 12" higher than the highest sprinkler head which are normally the ones used on bushes. Back flow preventers are normally the double valve type. Your work looks nice!2 points
-
Yes there is an anti-siphon on each sprinkler valve. Don't know if they sell'em any other way out here. And there is a back flow preventer for the whole she-bang just my side of the water meter which I have the privilege of paying $50 every year to get "checked".ðŸ˜2 points

Some of my handiwork over the last couple weekends. I referred to earlier about putting in a pressure regulator. Decided as long as I was digging a hole in solid rock I would put any and all further needed irrigation valves in. Can you tell which valves were put in by the homeowner(me) and which were done by the hired help? I'm going to tear his crap out and do it my way, the pipe store just did not have enough unions for me to get'er done yet.2 points

I am looking for an Emotiva UPA-2 amp to go along with an existing UPA-2. If you have one, or know of one for sale, please let me know. Thanks to all in advance. d.1 point

I'm pretty pissed off that my carefully cultivated thread has turned into an HOA meeting.1 point

OK; it's 5pm ... everyone have a glass of wine and relax (or should I say "chill") I personally have no problems with discussing pricing on this forum ... but yes; does not justify any "attacks."1 point

I haven't split hairs in a while and this is the kind of nagging annoyance over which I usually just roll my eyes. But today, it's important for some reason. Maybe because I like Schu more than the guy whose post history is dominated by FS threads.1 point

Yeah, but in the ad "she" says to text "him" (her soon to be ex) -- and not her, and lists "his" number. Also according to the ad, she also says that he thinks they are worth $2,000 each, so it's unlikely if someone in the area called or texted they'd be able to snag them for a bargain. She likely posted the ad just to get a bunch of potential buyers to bombard his phone with texts or calls -- or maybe as a threat to him.1 point

All this Butt Rubbing has really been a audio exercise in Brain Power. It doesn't help the OP who made a single post on Sunday and appears not to have any more interest in this since he fell off the earth. If you're gonna ask for advice, how about participating while people offer you help for your problem.1 point

At the risk of getting "moderated", unless the OP is willing to repair these, it's hardly worth the trouble. On one hand, you have a brand new pair for 160.00. On the other hand, you have a three year old pair that needs repair for 100.00. That math is pretty easy for me. Not trying to bash, just a casual observation. Shakey1 point

I've gone through quite a bit of equipment over the years and I always end up going back to early-mid 70's Marantz. After it's restored I really dig it. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk1 point

Back at one of my jobs I devised a sound scheme for Windows errors, shutdown, etc using HAL. Got no end of laughs from my programmers. Dave1 point

I had a pair given to me... With 5 blown drivers and the rest to be refoamed.... And had to find a active bose eq and speaker stands... by the time I was done.... My speaker repair man said .. I should get a pair of la scalas.... Sold the 901's back to my friend.... And for $100 more got a pair of la scalas.... And never looked BACK....that was over 20 years ago...1 point
-
Is this a joke? 901s sound like nine little speakers with a load of equalization driven by a small nuclear reactor. They violate everything PWK stood for and they sound accordingly. I have been told that under ideal circumstances they can sound good, but those circumstances are so rare is to have ensured I never heard them sound like anything but overequalized, over driven, itty bitty speakers. Yes Sir room treatments, check. I am certainly not finished but at least to the point where when time is available I can start taking measurements. I am using some preliminary settings I got from ChrisA for the Jubes with TADs. I've got a new laptop, the UMIK, REW and the Xilica app. They sound fantastic, the 402 horns are amazing. The stereo soundstage is so wide. And the lower registers from the LF cabinets make me think there is/was something wrong with my KHorns and LaScalas that I need to investigate. Like maybe the back chambers for the woofers are leaking or??1 point

Yea but that's in Texas where things prolly make sense Growing up in Michigan no one had built in irrigation. It rained often enough it just wasn't necessary or you put a "sprinkler" on the end of your hose when needed. Then moving out here this clustering of valves is the only way I've seen it done, never thought much about it.1 point

Are you seriously asking this question after reading this thread?1 point

People who can’t hear a difference between equipment and parts shouldn’t waste their time on audio forums.1 point
-
Most of the time yes, very lucky. That usually ends when I try dumb things I know I shouldn't or push my luck and it bites me on the azz, but overall your right, feels like it anyway. just a little bump back to the top, I'm not going to try it but it is interesting and positively my favorite folded horn None of this would have happened if JC wouldn't have wanted to try the old MWM cabinet in the Anechoic chamber with the 402 horn that weekend in 2007, Thank You and for Roy being willing to do it, it surely changed our living room.1 point

It took quite a while but at last I got myself a pair of the Daytons as well. I have nor listened extensively, but first impressions are very positive indeed. In my rig they replaced the JBL 2404H and I find them a bit more refined in tone and more differentiated and when it comes to instrumential and vocal timbres. Also they seem to make the sound bigger like stated somewhere above. So far I am impressed - and I am running them vertically.1 point

WOW!! Realize this was posted over a decade ago but this Rambling Rose is just .... art. Like petrified wood or a colorful agate. I'd pay the upcharge seen in a 70th edition or ltd edition for this veneer, then adjust my home around it! Lucky dog you are Budman. Searched for that veneer and found these from somewhere here. Vivid, remarkable, exotic, wow. Rorschach accredited!1 point

Didn't mean it quite like that Well I don't want to lie to you, I would hate to build it up to something it's not, you somewhat know all the people going so who would I be kidding. It would be nice to see you, you could tell me I'm a jackass in person, I'v heard it all before, my wife would agree with you i'm sure. I will be the tall guy with a nice perfectly shaved head mixing martinis.1 point
