  2. Haha ... have "no clue" why I'm "el-cheapo" now Yes; like "bargains," but everytime I buy a $500 speaker, my wife gets herself a $1000 purse

  3. Emille will be over-thinking now for the next two weeks... He's prolly on the way to Home Depot in an old beater pick-up in search of a deal on plywood for shipping crates!

  5. When you say this you must be joking ? And i thought you were a little crazy before hearing this. What are you cutting, you have grass ? Not much grass in any picture I have seen of the South West.

  6. Never tried it, but I wouldn't advise being in a plane crash on a frozen mountain with me, I would not die from lack of eating. Although you might be safe, not much meat on them bones and already partly dehydrated, probably tough ? Need to remember to carry spices with me when I fly.

  8. The Dealer bought them in and never sold them and wants to shift them before he orders new stock He has had them on demo but very very few hours on them Klipsch speakers here in NZ have a not so good reputation of being bright and this tarnishes the brand So people tend to stay away from them, also the price here for LS IIs is around 15k Sent from my LG-H990 using Tapatalk

  9. To me I would say much more midrange and less bass, tighter bass but less that than any Cornwall. It's horn loaded bass so it sounds a little different compared to a direct radiator. Me I like horn loaded bass better, the reason our 2 Ch speakers are what they are. If it's a good price you should buy them, especially if they are at a price you could recover if you did not like them. I have Cornwall lll's but would love to have the new LaScalas also but no room, I love the look of the thicker cabinet.

  10. Haha no not this time. If that deal pops back up, I'm in. Heresys and sub will get bumped to the secondary system.

  12. I had a fairly robust budget to work within but so many unexpected things occurred during the sale of my old house and the closing on the new that I have been forced to make several compromises. I did not want to skimp on the speakers since I hope to keep them nearly forever. AVR's come and go and I can always add more power in the future if I really feel the need. I don't disagree about separates but in the foreseeable future I am sticking with minimal hardware to accomplish an 11 channel Atmos system with the intent to let it evolve over time.

  14. It's time for Oldtimer's hot sauce special editions. First up is Solstice Scream, a blend of habanero and Trinidad scorpions. This is a very simple pure chile head sauce, strained and sold in 3 ounce bottles for $5 each. Made with Druidic incantations on the summer solstice. 3 ounce bottles, TSA approved for all of your travel needs. Next is Mordor Mud, a pure chocolate habanero sauce. Nothing chocolate about the flavor, just the color. Same 3 ounce size and strained, no chunks. Stolen from Mordor itself by brave little Hobbits who brought the ill gotten gains to me in the middle of the night. Limited quantities so put your orders in soon!

  15. Mornin' all Finally broke down and bought a card of AA batteries for my camera. Got me thinking about plugging a few in my transmitter and crank up the R/C stuff. Never was a "pilot" ... more a crash test dummy. I would get parts to be tested for durability.... once folks figured out that I did know what I was talking about ... just no talent. My hand/eye was never good. Funny thing, I was not happy with ones that were lame enough for me to fly. No challenge. Weather is working up to rain. There were a couple brave [but sacrificial] cumulus clouds yesterday. The sun got them. Have to lawnmower the yard today. Push [and I mean PUSH] mower. No motor ... but it works every time I do push it. I can start to get excited about my Scalas. 2 months will go by fast. The rainy season will be on us... That is always an interesting time of year. Things a lot more reliable now. The electricity goes bye bye Still a good idea to have water, a change of clothes, , non-perishable food in your car. Getting 45 miles can be an overnight trip.

  16. Carl this is for you, since you have some 396's in your garage. This was when they first were shown to everyone and it was at 2011 Pilgrimage. They were so new Roy had them built for this and they were not even painted yet. He put a fake screen up so people couldn't see them because he knew everyone would think they were much bigger and he wanted it be a surprise, he uncovered them during the day. This was at fair Park and the stage faces a few baseball fields and this setup covered all of them easily as you could imagine. There was also row of subs in front of the fence, a dozen 396's and the same amount of subs, it was very nice, a little shocking really.

  19. If you attended the pilgrimage this year then these are some pictures of the new design which we all heard in Klipsch's Updated Listening Room at the plant. (1 )New Build design which goes together like a puzzle with closed back which makes assembly very strong and much more efficient to build and allows the Klipschorn to be rotated in the corner as needed without having to be placed tight into the corner. (2 )New Tweeter with Crossover Changes (3) Removable grills for LF and HF (4) 2" Pedestal/Riser. First the recently updated Klipsch Listening Room in Hope.

  22. and taste of tobacco. About half mesquite smoked, though. Be like chewing on ribs. Might be good, but you'll starve getting enough to eat yeah, cut the grass. I have a patch. I use it to control runoff and cool the house. I wouldn't have planted it. It was here. I didn't even know there was a lawn, until it rained and this tif-green came up. was out in the doghouse ... Smokin' and drinkin' and listening to the crickets. Just for fun, I decided to see how they take to "competition". Cranked up my RadioShack electronic keyboard .... Set it to square wave, upper register. Shut 'em up right up. That was with the junk onboard speakers. Makes me want to put the LS out there.... maybe get a real synthesizer. I had an ARRP AXXE once upon a time. Ran it thru a Custom amp. 4] 10's and tuck-n-roll on the cabinet. Nice amp. The neighbors loved me.

  24. What's an amazing price if I might ask? If you decide against it can I have a look at them please? I consider the La Scala a different class of speaker than the CW... once you begin adding horn loading into the Low Frequencies, the sound fundamentally changes. I can no long live without it.

  26. @teaman Glad I'm too busy to monitor regularly or I'm fairly certain an $1800 pair of Forte iii's would be on their way. Keep sharing your finds Tim.

  27. Hope you didn't miss out. BTW, if anyone is interested, HI-FI Heaven in WI will sell new Forte IIIs for 2900.00 (includes shipping) and I'm pretty sure they are an authorized dealer. It's not 1800.00/pair, but it's not bad. Shakey

  30. @wvu80 Thank you. Their speaker is on it's way to them, so I have not got my money back yet which will be the real happy end of the story. Hopefully there will not be any issue. The new RP-450C is indeed awesome. For the record these are my most expensive speakers I have ever had. I never had such a high quality speakers before and I do not think I will need anything else. It took few years to collect the 5 pieces and now that I have them I'm very happy.

  31. Hello Wookie, Your room size is almost identical to mine. I also run three RF-7’s up front but version two. I originally ran my set up with just an AVR but switched to a 200x7 B and K amplifier I bought from Youthman. I can tell you that the sound greatly improved when I switched. I know that many people on this forum may disagree, but I found the sound to be much more rich and full with the addition of the power amp.

  36. For the record, @Schu I'm in complete agreement. No offical rule stipulates that it must be conducted in PM, merely some commonly held social expectation. I, for one, welcome as much chatter in my threads as possible because it keeps my shit at the top without looking like an impatient salesman with no interest in the viability of this forum, constantly bumping to the top spots. I'd also like to see some people spend time contributing to to the forum (socially, technically, whatever) and not spend most of their post count schilling gear - flipped, long-owned, or otherwise - as if this is Craigslist. But I also firmly believe in not thread crapping someone's listing to point fingers, complain, or otherwise ***** about thread crappers (irony, much?).. so here we are, in the designated spot of my choosing.

  39. My story finally has a happy end, because I have received a perfectly new RP-450C in a factory sealed box from trinasty.sk. Though I only had the RP-250C for about 2 weeks, I do notice how the RP-450C sounds even better.

  42. I had RB-61’s paired with a RC-62 for a while and I really enjoyed the combo. The good news is that sometimes Fry’s has pairs of RB-61’s on sale for $199, during their weekly promo ads. Haven’t seen them pop up in a few weeks though.. I also had 4 RP-160m’s with a RP-450C and I preferred this ove the the combo mentioned above but not quite sure if it was worth double the price of the Reference II setup I had. You will be very happy either way, they are all wonderful speakers. I am in the camp where I would much rather have bookshelf speakers over towers if you can afford to add a sub with the bookshelves vs. not being able to afford towers and a sub. Something else to consider.

  45. This article says the layoffs start later this year.....https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/harley-davidson-stock-tanks-amid-plan-to-shut-down-plant/ar-BBItkqD?li=BBnb7Kz I think it was just a matter of time. They have a plant in India, now building one in Thailand. They probably need to downsize, especially management to stay alive. The old days of a company being fat with profits and multi-levels of management are over. Nowadays you have to be efficient to stay alive. I would say the word efficient, and Harley Davidson don't go well together The new bikers want adventure style bikes, not 1000 lb luxury riders. I do feel bad for the 800 workers that are losing their jobs. There is a Honda manufacturing plant an hour from me that has been hiring people for over a year, they can't get them working fast enough. I had an encounter with a HD rider a few years ago at a gas station. I was riding a foreign bike loaded with technology, a Honda VFR Interceptor (hence my screen name) An HD guy made a remark "hey punk, buy an American bike, help our economy" I mentioned to him about going home, pulling his air cleaner cover off and seeing where his carb came from? Or his forks, or the ECU.....they're all made in a foreign land.
