  2. That's a hoot! Either way ya don't. Mine? Bring your gold or save 10% for cash. I'm expecting a call in a couple weeks from the guys at my record shop wanting to know if I'm po'd at them for some reason. Told 'em when they started I'd pay for a corner of their store and fulfilled that promise but now? WHATEVER I buy from here on out is gonna be stellar. The struggle is real here but I'm thinkin. 😂 @dirtmudd Nothing like that YET but I've had some hot chicks down on all fours diggin around on the floor lookin for something. ALWAYS a fun watch. They'd just tell me to hurry up they were busy lookin for something.

  10. I inherited a pair of Forte 1s from my father who passed in 2000. Replaced the crossovers with new Crites crossovers, added titanium tweeter diaphragms and then installed Dave As tweeters. They sounded very good and I loved them as my mains for many years. This last year I bought a new pair of Forte IVs and made my Forte1s my rear surrounds. I have placed the Forte IVs where my Forte 1s used to be and in my room with the rest of my system the IVs sound better in every way than my Forte 1s ever sounded. Sound stage, bass, midrange, mid bass — all better to my ears than the 1s. I don’t understand how people could prefer the Forte 1s over the 4s. Yes the 4s cost more. My dads 1s were $1000 back in 1986. I paid $3200 for the Forte IVs but I think they are worth every penny.

  11. That works for a lot of people, for sure. Some, however, go back to much higher calories when the "diet is over" - -after they lose X pounds. The hazard is they may gain it all back. Alternatively, if you make a PERMANENT change to how you eat, and you eat a Ketogenic diet, you really don't have to count calories much. And you will lose weight very fast down to your "natural weight," which will be a BMI of about 20-24. Eating meat and fat allows the organs to immediately signal the brain when you are "Full". The satiety signal works perfectly with protein and fat. It works much less well with carbohydrates which overwhelm the signaling system. And once you stay in the Keto mode, you won't get hungry between meals. You can easily go 24 hours between meals. The DOWN side is that for many people adjusting to Keto is very difficult. For some it is impossible. Anyway, just a thought.

  15. You really have peaked my curiosity on this subject, whether a modern hobbyist type VOM will function on AC beyond 500hz. As you know most measurements on amplifiers are done on the DC range and not AC so I have never checked. I will very disappointed if what you say is correct about the most common VOM's purchased by hobbyist. We have strayed far from the topic of this thread started by Melvin so I will PM you the results on some of my meters later in the week and not on this thread. Take care Bruce. You are in my prayers.

  16. I'll give you my thoughts, since you asked. The TI 3255 Chip is an amazing device. Just how well it's implemented in lower wattage than the "max" rating makes the difference. Everyone is barking up the wrong tree about this. You "ahem" review reminds me of the You Tube video from a fauxtographer and his cute wife testing out all the 85mm lenses on the market, photographing a mannequin head. They then declared a Nikon 105 MM to be the winner. What an insult and a waste of time. If you are all about all horns and big horns, like I am, you already know that big watts don't mean a thing to a Klipsch guy or gal. Also, this is an old PA-5 thread, so why are you judging negatively an amp that your go "cheap" and not a PA-5? Emotional testing without data, is just another opinion, especially with all the flowery word BS that comes from StereoPhool and Absulutely Soundless magazines whose reviewers listen to good MUSIC in crappy room. Waste of time.

  18. The engineers at Klipsch keep working on the speakers, so that each new generation sounds better. Sometimes there are small steps, sometimes big jumps. The 2007 La Scala IIs of mine are clearly better than the 1974 models (which are now my Surround speakers), and they should be. I don't doubt that the AL5s are better yet. Of course, the JubScala conversion probably closes the gap a bit...

  19. Another thing is to not eat in between meals. We are constantly led to believe that we must snack. Snacks bring in more money. You have to give your digestive system time to rest and recover ESPECIALLY when you're older. Our bodies aren't as efficient as they were when we're were younger. Eating healthy food also makes this possible. Junk/processed food does not.

  21. I would Google "how to apply wood veneer" to begin with. Then be sure all surfaces are sanded smooth. I veneered some plywood a few years ago. Not hard to do. You'll need a roller to smooth it out, but read about how to do it first. Should look nice. You can probably find lots of veneer wood options to match what you have in your LaScallas. Good luck.

  22. yes , there is 1 other option which is less labor intensive ... you can bond CNC cut 1/4 inch pre-veneered wood to the sides-top

  25. Ummm...Isn't 120 dB at your seat pretty outrageous and deafening? I can see the LF hitting hard and low with a sub, but a speaker doing that seems kinda OT, imo. By his math it seems more realistic levels could be attained with a solid 100 watt amp for most folks. That's my take.

  26. @MeloManiac just another crazy war costing so many countries so many lives. Tragic. You would think a lesson to be learned by all then fast forward to today. Wild for sure when you look at the big picture. Typically there are a few different versions of the "record player" saw some sold for about $250 to collectors then pulled this up on youtube. Just proves to the world that soldiers are just like we are today. We need that music "fix" whenever we can get it. Crazy!

  28. They are the most important…… until they’re not. I would take a system with average speakers and a world class front end over better speakers driven by a home theater receiver.

  34. I usually stream music, but my collection of physical media is growing. I have listening areas in my home and out in the shop, and I needed media storage in the shop. I try to keep things out there on casters for cleaning and rearranging so that's a requirement. When I looked online, there wasn't much that fit the bill and what did was expensive, so I started looking at DIY. I found this thread http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/record-bin-from-single-4-x-8-sheet-of-plywood-plans.337891/ over on Audiokarma.org and decided to modify it with CD storage drawer, slide-out lower album bin and a "now-playing" shelf. I'm not a builder and this was the first time I'd ever built drawers or tried staining anything...it came out fine for the shop, lol.

  35. My suggestion is buy the CF3's Then, do a side by side A/B comparison in the actual room in which they will be residing. Listen to a bunch of songs you know well. Then, keep the pair you like more and sell the other. It's not like you're going to lose any money, but you will take all of the guess work out of ending up with the speakers you like more.

  38. I've only done that a couple of times. Used recipes found on the www. Saw this post of yours when I came back out of the kitchen a while ago. I'd wager that one Italian guy I know here that lives in NY and works as a chef could tell us off the top of his head an authentic recipe! For the next couple of days:
