  2. Worked on this one a little this afternoon. Way smoother than it has any right to be. These guys hung out in the background. All this was while I was waiting on some glue to dry.

  5. Corner horn set inherited from my grandfather. As much as I hate giving them up, current circumstances require it! Currently located in South Georgia but moving very soon to middle Georgia. All original equipment. There are a couple aesthetic blemishes from being moved, water/drink marks on tops. WR finish. Nearly consecutive serial numbers (1 digit skipped). Asking $3000 OBO for set and willing to deliver within a reasonable distance from Macon, GA area.

  9. Was thinkin of you @oldtimer while watching. Smirkin a bit and thinkin the only thing "Neon Dion" could do to take it to an even higher level would be to bring in Dennis Rodman A.K.A. "the worm" to Coach the Defense. Think about it. A hybrid football/hoops team? If anyone could pull it off they could. Wait add Sir Charles too! They'd take those kids to a new level! Gotta get outta that box! Ray-bans, gold 'n cowboy hats all around. 😂😎

  11. Dion will not settle for less than very hard work from his kids. That's one of the reasons he's been given such a hard time lately nowadays hard work asked of anybody is frowned upon. So there's that other realm again.

  27. https://www.discogs.com/release/9966636-Konami-Kukeiha-Club-Snatcher Life is sometimes funny... Back in 1994 I played a game on my Sega Genesis called "Snatcher". It´s a scifi story, with more than a lot of Terminator and Blade Runner feel, it was/ is a great game and that includes the soundtrack. I knew that the OST was out there, both on CD and vinyl, but way to expensive... Two weeks ago I was lucky, or not if you ask my wallet... There was a seller in Germany and I got the double LP Mint for under 100€. So I pulled the trigger. All in all I´m happy, and now I sit here in 2023, listening to the OST of a 1993 (digital) video game, on analog vinyl... Life is funny, isn´t it? (Gotta pull out that game CD again...!)

  32. Hook up your bookshelf speakers to the speaker wires feeding the Klipschorns. Turn up the volume and observe the voltage rise using a voltmeter set to AC Volts. Then hookup the bookshelf speakers to the woofer output of the crossover and do the same thing. As long as you see the voltage rise as you increase the volume, and you hear no unusual sounds except maybe high frequency limiting, you can assume the crossovers are working properly. I don't know what actual voltages you should be seeing at the woofer output terminals. If you have access to the crossover on your bookshelf speakers, you can measure the output at the woofer driver's input terminals and expect similar response on your Klipschorns. I think that's a fair assumption. Heck; you could connect the speaker wires directly to the Klipschorn's woofer for a test and you wouldn't damage anything. The woofer just wouldn't reproduce high frequencies.

  34. Thanks, it has been a crazy couple weeks. Trying to keep up with a massive workflow online to boot. Had to pick up a laptop, just have a desk top at home. Still smokey as anything down here though. We got away later on the day and had to stop in High Level overnight. Pretty much the last room in town. Moved south to Peace River the next morning. Had Golda on leash and Cindy took a picture of her on the hood of the Jeep before we left town.

  35. A great read from a good friend of mine. It’s a sad day for Parrot Heads around the world with the news of Jimmy Buffett’s death. I loved him more for his song- writing skills than anything else, but my one encounter with him was somewhat hilarious. It was a slow Sunday about 8 p.m. in the summer of 1989 when my ex-college roommate Jim Mariotti of Youngstown and I walked into his Margaritaville bar on Duval Street in Key West. Two beers later, there were maybe three other patrons in the place when we decided to call it a night. Just then, Jimmy and his Coral Reefer Band mates busted through the door as he told the bartender, “Our tour’s over … a bottle of Cuervo, please!” He then lined shot glasses on the bar and free tequila flowed like a river. And then the party started. They took over the stage and started playing Rolling Stones songs for some reason, but not their own music. Within an hour, word had spread around town and the place was packed. At one point, I turned to see Jimmy sitting next to me and he proceeded to fall off his bar stool - twice. On the first flop, his tennis shoes kicked me in the ribs. I looked down at him as he said, “Hey man, I am a little (messed) up, can you help me up?” He was just a little guy so he was very easy to pick up and place back on the stool. I did that twice. We finally left about 2 a.m. with the band still playing, the dance floor packed and Jimmy slumped in a chair near the stage. We woke up that Monday morning with terrible tequila hangovers, looked at each other and asked “Did that really happen?” The next time I saw Jimmy, he was opening for the Eagles just a few years ago and as good as ever on stage. One thing can be said about this man - he lived the life he sang about. RIP Jimmy.

  40. IIRC, my BIL, traveled throughout the South, as a peddler of industrial knitting needles. He was at a motel in Mobile after a long day, and after eating, visited the lounge... JB was there. He said he was awful... and then, a few years later he was doing alright and on the radio.

  42. Author unknown a key problem for AI developers is that their models keep beating benchmark databases devised to test them, but still somehow fail real world tests. However, the next potential bottleneck to AI’s progress might not be AI itself, but a lack of data for models to train on These are two sides of the same coin, they keep failing the real world tests because their models and algorithms have limits compared to the real world possibilities. Sort of like how autonomous vehicles won’t be viable until they take privately owned/driven vehicles off the road. Then the algorithms would be in charge. They will use ‘climate change’ to do this. It’s not that the elites want to control us, they want computers to control us so they don’t have to The problem for humans will arise when AI reaches the middle of the Bell Curve.

  45. That's pretty typical, after a restoraition or two most owners go with glass tops for that very thing. Nice music, cocktails, some wine, it pretty easy to see what the drinks are going to end up no matter what you try to do to avoid that. Some some of the next questions you may have might be should you restore to maximize price. I can tell you what the general consensus has been. Unless you have significant experience with wood refinishing, have access to everything you need, it is typically not worth it. For either the grilles or to refinish both speakers/tops. We get about 2 - 4 inquiries a year exactly like yours. Sometimes the speakers look just like what you have, sometimes, brand new out of a box (literally). For those like yours, I don't think the recommendation has ever been do the restoration and sell, always the opposite, not worth the time, effort for the return (unless you happen to own a furniture refinishing/repair or that is already you favorite hobby). Some people hang on to their receipts, other Klipsch paperwork they received with the speaker, if that was passed along you, be sure to mention that it will add a little value. I don't think the speakers would have historical significance that the Klipsch Museum of Audio History would be interested in them, but I will confirm with the Curator, Jim Hunter. Even then, it would be more of a situation of a donation and you could write off their full market value on your taxes. If you are looking for cash, I think the advice you have gotten thus far has been excellent. Put them in the Garage Sale Section when you have established a price, with the location of town or city near you, and they frequently go for a reasonable price. Be wary of newer members, or offers to send you more than you are asking, refund the difference, etc., internet scams using fack money orders, cashiers checks. Anybody how has been around here awhile you won't run into that problem, but brand new members we have no way of knowing. You would want an in-person, cash transaction. No commission, sellers fees with Garage Sale, and people can keep a friendly eye on you. There are some Facebook groups that are Klipsch related, and also Vintage Hi-Fi on Facebook where things like this are bought and sold, again no fees, but SELLER beware. You might be able to get slightly higher prices on those, it is up and down. My two cents. Travis

  46. $3000 range seems fair pending physical inspection. Which is highly subjective. I’d start no less than $3500 and maybe a local will jump. I’m not ready for a Khorns yet or I might be interested myself. Good luck!

  47. You can agree to disagree and feel good about it but it does not change the fact that these new zxpc "copies" are an exact replica of the Klipsch horns I have on hand and have compared them to, took multiple pictures of and posted here for all to see. Now if your argument is that Klipsch made a bad copy or version of the k-510 that zxpc just happened to make a perfect / near perfect copy of that is a different story and I'd let the more educated hash that out.
