  6. drivers and horns have to match each other as a system. you should consider what style and size of horn that you are willing to accept in your system then find the driver that will best mate to the horn that you choose. Aluminum is the best material at reasonable prices Radian have aluminum diaphragms with Mylar surrounds which are very nice. Titanium is more durable than aluminum in pro situations though it will break up sooner than aluminum will, in home situations you don't need to worry about ultra high levels so worrying about slapping diaphragms at high level wont be a concern. There are many fine ti drivers so don't discount the material off hand. Beryllium is the very best diaphragm material hands down nothing else even comes close but you are going to pay for it. You might consider (used) the JBL 435 with a Be diaphragm but it has a 1.5 inch exit not a two inch. A set of JBL 435 in excellent condition will set you back $500.00 - $700.00 a pair plus shipping. That could work to you advantage as you could go two way instead of three way. The EV DH1A is a superb world class driver with a nominal 2" exit and a three inch titanium diaphragm remove the extender nose cup and you now have a 1.4"exit. These sell for very reasonable amounts used mostly because they weigh so much (23.5 lbs each)they can output TEN acoustical watts across their band, I don't know of any other compression driver that can do this, that more output than a JBL2226 fifteen inch woofer. I bought a pair of DH1A in excellent condition with shipping for only $260.00. Look also to the large format JBL 4 inch diaphragm designs they are available in 1.5 inch and 2 inch exit. Something like a JBL 2250 (4" diaphragms)used will be around $700.00 - $900.00 a pair plus shipping. You could later make the jump up to Be diaphragms for these at a cost of around $1200.00 for the diaphragms alone install and shipping will be extra. Best regards Moray James.

  8. I had no idea, still can't fix ugly. We were so far in the mountains the phones didn't even work, I thought it was great, the wife wasn't so happy about that. A sex change operation of all things, Christy laughed when I told her, she said that's what I get for being a smart ***. Just for the record, I would be a lesbian.

So far in this life I've made a living performing (guitar, dobro), TV news photographer, newspaper production work, to my current job of IT/ desktop support at a small, private college on top of Lookout Mountain GA (close to Rock City and Ruby Falls for all the tourists...) My wife was a school teacher in the Philippines and China for 18 years before she came here to the States to be with me. Right now she is working at a residential home for disabled adults. 28. As I recall, the Legend Series was limited to the KLF's. I bought the KLF-30's in the late 90's and they are part of my HT today (along with KLF-10's in the rear and a C-7 center). Don't think any other models were included in the Legend line.

  31. The Cinema F-20 came on line today, and did not, perhaps, piss off the neighbors as cause them to shelter in place. The missing octave was found on the Virgil Fox direct to disc recording classic from Crystal Clear. Having performed a smoke test with no signal, I let the Black cartridge down into the lead in groove and turned the volume to twelve o'clock. No real noticeable change on the initial 8 and 4 foot stops that open the Bach Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. However, at bar 9 the run up the minor scale starts on a low D well below the clef. My teeth chattered, the lights visibly vibrated, and I was sexually stimulated as my private parts were massaged at 16.5hz. My son entered the room and shouted that stuff was moving around on his desk. I told him to call a priest. While my fight or flight instinct said "Run like hell..." I stuck it out and sunk into the music with eyes closed and could feel what one really feels in a great space. Powerful, yes. Loud, yes. But not really threatening at all once you convince your mind that earthquakes really don't happen in Houston and that the full range sound of a great hall is really possible even in a 12X15 space. Some tuning to do. Crossover isn't as transparent as I will make it. But, I just guessed at the settings. Huge thanks to Carl, Lonelobo, and, of course, the PAW. Pictures will be posted once I get the room straightened out. Dave

  35. You might want Chorus II, Cornwall or La Scala (Belle if you can find them) for that size of a space. I love the La Scalas, but might need a subwoofer depending on the music you listen too.

  36. You might also take a look at the B&C DCM-50. Its a treated paper diaphragm, and a fine sounding driver. Product Details B&C DCM50 2" Neodymium Midrange Compression Driver 8 Ohm 4-Bolt The B&C DCM50 2" exit midrange compression driver represents a new level of high quality, high performance drive units. 38. I included in my vote, Mr. Dtel.... though I suspect there could exist a conflict of interest with his wife also being a moderator. Confuse-us says, "He who's judgment counter's that of his better half, sleeps alone at night".... anyway, I hope this qualifies for free room and board for myself and the entire family next summer. We can only stay for 3 months, sorry. Please make special accommodation for the two weenie dogs, April and Luke. By the way, I do love my Cajun food extra, extra, extra spicy, as does my wife and one of our daughter's. The other daughter prefers Mac & Cheese, so she'll be cheap and easy to please.

  40. Sorry to see one of our good pickles go, but I can understand your sentiments. And I KNOW you had more than three votes, because I voted for you three times, at least! (under different names, of course) You're too modest. +++ Minor thread drift, and one more thing: Nixon would have gone down in history as one of our better presidents, if not for that silly Watergate thing. He ended the Vietnam war, and opened up diplomatic relations with China which had never been done, a more significant accomplishment than any of the other presidencies in the last 50 years, with the possible exception of Regan presiding at the time of the demise of the Soviet Union.

Besides you're hoping she likes you for who you are. Not for what you wish you were. Treat her like a Lady until she proves otherwise. Above all don't take no advice from me. I haven't been on a date for at least 35 years. But I still enjoy looking.

    1 point
  47. Have had renters for over 30 years. You get good ones and bad ones. The best way I have found to evaluate potential renters is to show your place. Then insist on going to where they are presently living and inspect the way they took care of that house. Sometimes they will want a couple hours before letting you come over. Be firm and insist on going to their home as soon as you leave your rental property. You might be amazed at what you find. And some things are better to find before you make a decision to rent or not.
