  1. OK, I'll admit, I'm pretty sure I was the first to leave the party, and it may very well still be going on, but regardless, it was a terrific get together.... Many, many thanks to Seth and his lovely wife for hosting the event and being so gracious in sharing their home for all of us Klipsch aficionados....Lots of great food and drink, vinyl, Blu Ray's, DVD's, CD's, streaming....Old school rock, blues, acoustic, jazz, Beatles, Bee Gees, electronic dance, concert videos. Seth had his beautiful pair of Cornwalls, Jimjimbo brought his ClaudeJ1 Super Heresy "Baby Cornwalls", and Jason wrestled a great Table Tuba into the room. Seth's tube amp, JimJimbo's ampsandsound Stereo 15 tube amp, and Mark's older Marantz were all auditioned and sounded great. I'm sure lots of other comments to come from other folks. Again, thank you all for attending, it was great to meet everyone. Initial setup

  4. Ah Sunday morning. Zip planned, still playin around with my big dish, after 20+ years of storage and getting kicked around in storage, many interesting problems arise. Bad receiver, bent brackets, even found the RG6 Coax was crap after all this time. Looks like Tarheel is doing well, excellant.

  8. Thanx BB, i have a pretty good stash of "Cables" myself, over the years i collected spools of everything. When moving into this current house 5 years ago, came home with a pick up truck full of spool wire from my storage unit. And in fact i remember worrying about the attic rafters wile stashing the wire up there.

  17. you can try a very simple mod which takes almost no time to do. Set the speakers up so that the centre of the mid horn is at your seated ear level. This will provide you with the very best possible stage and image. Easy to do and undo if you don't like the change. Does not have to cost you a dime. Best regards Moray James. I have them set up that way with the spikes, tilted back so the mid is pointed right at ear level, much better. tilting helps and is better than doing nothing but it screws things up compared to having the speakers firing square to you at your listening position. Why don't you try and compare the two methods and see for yourself? Best regards Moray James.

  18. Good afternoon folks!! I finally got tired of seeing the ghoulish outline of a guy whenever I posted something, so I found a picture of my favorite musical instrument (the one I own and play most every day) and put it up. Of course, it's a Hammond B3. Hope you all are enjoying a great Sunday. We have resort weather here in the Denver area and will take it as long as we can get it. Cheers. Chuck.

  20. I knew I would get questions about who was in the photos, so I'll do the best I can Look at the last photo with everyone standing and from left to right: (I apologize that I forgot the last gentleman on the right....) Rick (Seth's neighbor, and very nice guy!), Beeker, JimJimbo Jason STR, (Jason, Table Tuba builder master...), Brandon (Opus2k9), Gary (Gnote), Derrick (Derrickdj1), Mark (Bubo?), Seth (Lemonstring), and then? (again, sorry...) A few additional notes: Yes, this is how I would like to spend all my Saturdays when the Wolverines have a bye (and this season, I wish they had more byes.....) Gary, I apologize for not saying goodbye, I think you may have been outside somewhere when I took my leave, and yes, I was concerned you would follow me and try to abscond with my Stereo 15...LOL Brandon, thank you for your invite to your home to see your great collection and your two beautiful puppies.... Again, Seth, thank you so much, it was a real pleasure.

  22. Dammit, man! So many tasty choices here! That Jolida looks fantastic! I wish I had the cash for something like that. BillyBob, you mentioned onkyo may have mini amps, but all I can find are their compact systems and a $600 "slim" amp. I'd love to stick with onkyo. Otherwise, I've seen a Dayton DTA-120 that looks to fit the bill. Anybody have experience with it? I'm now leaning toward the Topping or the Dayton.

  25. Good prices, especially on the CF-3. You should measure the depth of the ports on the bottom, if they are 5", they are version 1 which are the sought after one. Good luck with your sale.

  26. It's very strange to me that in stereo there is little bass. I wonder if settings are correct in the Denon. Try using your Denon as a pre-amp and feed the RCA output to your friend's Pioneer A-229. If the bass is back, you have confirmed that the amp of the Denon is the problem. If the bass is still gone, you have confirmed that it's a setting in the Denon's pre stage.

  28. I really like seeing pictures and descriptions of these get-together events. [Can someone identify forum names with the faces in the above pictures?] For the participants in these social events, they allow the participants to get to know each other in way that is not available online. I've found that participants can be very different in real life than their online personas would indicate. It's all better than cyberspace-only conversation, IMHE. Thanks for the write-up. Chris

  37. That's a big "if," but it could happen... It happened! Yes indeed, great game WVU.... For those who didn't know, I was in the WVU Marching Band, BITD. Percussion section. I had Baylor in the final 4 with Oklahoma, who also lost today. I think all my final four pics in this poll are now history, maybe Florida State is left, I'll have to check. It was a sloppy game, as Baylor set a school and Big 12 record for stupidity with 18 penalties and nearly grabbed the national record with 215 yards in penalties! (short by about 20 yards) WVU wasn't much better, with 14 penalties and 3 turnovers. Baylor is NOT a top four team with that amount of penalties, and neither was OK which they proved by not being able to punch it in with first and goal late in the 4th period, and by missing a field goal which was shorter than a PAT! I don't think any Big 12 team can now climb into the final four. It now looks like the ND/FSU winner vs three teams from the SEC West.

  44. These are Craig's, which are very similar to Jan's. Jan has a very nice set of Universals which I built him about a year ago, but he much prefers the Jupiter build. This is pretty much where I'm at too, the Jupiters are just killer

  46. Get the biggest Klipsch you can fit and afford is my advise. It will save you a lot of money in upgrades. Getting small Klipsch with a sub will mean smaller drivers and horns. It will matter I promise. My advise comes from my own mistakes. Learn from them

  47. La Scalas don't dig deep, but they do 80 Hz and above very well! Better than the Heresy! What would you use as center? surrounds? Three LS II in the front would be awesome.
    1 point
  48. If you have the money, go for La Scalas. Combine those with a good horn sub and you have a better sounding system than most theaters.
