  2. I miss the oyster roasts and crab feasts that we used to have at least once a month when I lived in So. Maryland....those were great times. I worked with some ladies whose husbands were oystermen, and we would get bushels of jumbo blue crabs and oysters on Fridays...

  8. Same here but 45 and windy, had to put on a jacket. But I have to admit it feels better than 98 and humid. Any kind of seafood is fine with me, almost any kind, tried eel sushi once, never again.

  11. Very nice, honoring your farther is as good a reason as you could ever have, it's also well done. I only have one, it's small, peer pressure caused it. OK not peer pressure, but kid pressure, someone we knew did it when he came over. I said I could never think of anything I wanted to look at the rest of my life. The kids complained, you have been married over 35 years it's probably safe to put moms name. So I let him do it, it hurt, I think he was trying to tattoo all the way to the bone. Not bad really, thought about another but I still can't think of anything else I want to look at, I'll stick with scars for now.

  20. My wife is an attorney and they have an interesting solution for preventing that. Basically to be in the bar association and therefore practice, you have to have a separate client trust fund. You get paid up front, funds go into this account, and they are frozen. Funds can only be removed after the work is totally complete and you'll be disbarred if you don't adhere to these rules. And that's why you'll never hear of an attorney dealing with a problem like this.

  23. Interesting, I see what you did, now. You removed the jumpers and sent only LF signals to the woofs, with no connection to the HF section. This would presumably give you a mid-bass reinforcement, not true sub-woofer frequencies. The XO would have filtered out the sub-sonic information. James, did you have full range speakers hooked up, then added the LF section as well via the method you described? I'm trying to reverse engineer in my head what the signal might have been doing.

  27. I would love to have a pair, they sound really good, so good if I could only have one set of speakers the 396 would be in the top few speakers to pick from. But I am a cheap sob so probably won't happen.

  28. Regardless of spec or tune, they're an awesome sounding speaker. Mine will replace my KP-301 II's in my garage.

  30. You haven't lived until you've heard a pair of KP-600s indoors. "Huge" is the catchword describing their sound. It also describes the size of those monsters: two stacks of three very oversized "footlockers". This is a Roy Delgado design, IIRC. Reliability (i.e., "sound engineers" pushing them way too hard and breaking drivers) seems to be the only issue. They're really outside or arena loudspeakers, however. If you really want to tick off your neighbors, a pair of those will do the job nicely. Chris

  31. The 7s have a couple peaks in their response. Some, including myself, find that to be bright and harsh. I had mine turned down -2 as well, but without an EQ, you won't be able to pinpoint those peaks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  39. This has been brought up quite few times by KLF-30 owners....myself included. As far as I know, Klipsch may or may not have a couple of the Eminence versions available. The last time I talked to them....they weren't sure. Bob Crites has on his site a 12" woofer that works in the Heresy, Jubilee and says it also "works well" in the KLF -30. "Works well" kinda has me wondering. "Works great" or something along those lines would make me feel more comfortable about buying one but Bob is a stand up guy and I'll take his word for it that this is a legitimate substitute for the K-31. A couple others here have mentioned other 12" woofers from other vendors that "might work" in te KLF-30 but these hav not been confirmed. I'd like to find out if they are in fact suitable replacements. Sent from my SM-G920R4 using Tapatalk

  41. Yes, I do have a pair of K-31 woofers (as used in KLF 30 and Jubilee). They are lightly used, but would need to be sold as a pair. The OP is welcome to contact me. I just edited the above to correct a mistake .... I do make them sometimes

  44. Pro audio speakers are often specified with a frequency response and an f3 (3dB down point) or f10 (10dB down point); i.e. 50 - 15k, f10 40 Hz. Home speakers are undoubtedly tested the same way, but the full spec is not stated. I have also seen speakers spec'd at 20 - 20k, but when/if you see a response curve, it might be down 40dB at 20 Hz and 20k Hz. Without a specified fx frequency, you cannot know what the lower response of the woofer is. Since any filter affect frequencies well above it's -3dB point, I am sure no manufacturer inserts a high-pass filter when testing a speaker's low bass response. You are expected to care for your speakers and not overdrive them. I have never seen a home speaker with a high pass filter to protect the woofer from notes below its designed low end response. It is *sometimes* done in pro audio subwoofers. Many home subwoofers also have electronic EQ, limiters and high-pass filters built into the amp. I would not add an outboard high pass filter to any speaker's input terminals. You would need to calculate and then test the interaction between the added bass filter and speaker's crossover network. It is far better to use an electronic crossover between your amp and pre-amp, or the built in high-pass in the pre-amp/processor/receiver, if it has one, and feed the subwoofer from the subwoofer outputs. Almost all subwoofers have an adjustable high pass for the mains, as well. You can use that, too.

  45. I have a few of PWK, but not many...it seems that if a camera was brought out, he generally tended to attempt avoiding it!..quite successfully, I might add!

  46. There might conceivably be a difference between "measurements" and "marketing's presentation" of the results. It has been an ongoing battle since PWK hired the first salesman (1961) to keep things honest, and I would venture to say there is no other manufacturer that exceeds us. Klipsch Engineering has always been very conscious and conservative in measurements. We have "always" paid close attention to AES standards, and our procedures have not changed materially (any more than the standards themselves). I might only guess that sensitivity measurements are the crux of the issue. While I don't keep up with what hits the press these days, we at least used to be clear on measurement conditions, and they have not changed. Conditions like a real room vs. anechoic chamber vs. 3P are critical. Our final sensitivity ratings are based on performance in a real room which increases the number, dependent on the speaker's directivity. BTW, out of necessity Paul Klipsch practically invented the three-position microphone technique (he got a patent on his "Logarator"). When he finally had enough money for an anechoic chamber he never looked back. If you consider the professional market, Klipsch submits data for inclusion in the industry standard EASE system, which forcibly puts manufacturers on a level playing field. Even here we have some disagreements on exact conditions of measurement, but we comply with the professional industry standard. Don't ya love how the Klipsch spell-checker doesn't recognize Klipsch?
