  6. I know this isn't Klipsch but upgrading your hard drive to SSD will allow you to browse Klipsch and Klipsch forums faster. LOL. For those looking for a great deal on a SSD Hard Drive, I just got an email from Newegg saying they are going to have a 24hr sale on a 1TB Samsung for $89.00 (Currently it's $327.00)! Use the code EMCRJCG22 during checkout. Sale starts this Sunday. I would be all over this had I not have purchased the 500 GB version of this just a few months ago. I can say it made a HUGE difference in performance over my previous SATA drive. Here is the link to the ad - http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail/Aug-0-2017/EXPRESS_766778fg_26/index-landing.html?utm_medium=Email&utm_source=EXPRESS082617&cm_mmc=EMC-EXPRESS082617-_-EMC-082617-Index-_-E0B-_-feature1&et_cid=36990&et_rid=1959678&et_p1=&email64=TUlLRUBTT0xFUFJPRFVDVElPTlMuQ09N Here is a direct link to the drive - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147374&utm_medium=Email&utm_source=EXPRESS082617&cm_mmc=EMC-EXPRESS082617-_-EMC-082617-Index-_-InternalSSDs-_-20147374-S0A&ignorebbr=1 Man...I just bought the 500 GB version a few months ago. It made a huge improvement in performance on my machine over my previous SATA drive. Michael

  7. This morning, I updated the forums to the latest version, which included some cosmetic changes, a few new little features, and a ton of security vulnerability fixes. I've done my best to tweak the themes a bit to cover for some of the changes that happened (some colors were changes and stuff like that). Is something looks odd to you, please let me know here. The forums may be a little sluggish at the moment while all posts are being re-indexed. The reindexing has been completed. Site performance should be normal.

  8. That blue Buick coming off the line with wheels in the air looks somewhat stock. I've heard about the 455 Stage 1 but damn, that thing is pulling hard. My first car was a 68' RT 440 Magnum...:^) Sold it to the local junkyard just down the road from that Clermont drive-in for $75.00 due to a knocking main.

  11. A little warm here 80 and 55% humidity at 11 am, but mostly sunny which is far off from E Texas weather right now. We might see the 70's in Nov, I hope.

  13. Ditto in Michigan. I suspect our currently excellent weather is somehow related to the foul weather in the South.

  14. Second 20oz cup of DD already. We're getting unbelievable weather here in Ohio. 70's, no humidity and the sun is shinning. Wish I could push some of that down to Texas.

  17. There was this guy from Whiteland, IN who used to race Pro Stock Bob Glidden He won 85 NHRA National Events. Ten Pro Stock championships including five in a row beginning in 1985. Nine straight NHRA national races in 1979 and was the No. 1 qualifier 23 times in a row, including the entire 1987 season. At one point, he won 50 eliminations rounds in a row. And is one of the nicest guys I have ever met.

  19. The drive-in is long gone but you can still camp across the street like the good ole days. C'mon over. Jason Line is my ultra fav. He is a fellow Buick racer who still campaigns his C/SA 1970 Buick Gran Sport 455 Stage 1. He brought it to Indy last year and pulled double duty with his Pro Stock car. Hoping to talk with him at this years events. I will have 3 Buick freaks in tow. http://www.thedrive.com/start-finish/9220/pro-drag-racer-jason-line-wont-let-go-of-his-1970-buick

  20. I heard a commercial yesterday that said top fuel having 10,000 HP! Maybe those engines are so violent they can't dyno them. My brother is a huge Pro Stock fan. He says there's more engineering in them than the nitro cars. I haven't been in a couple years, need to get back out there.

  21. Speaking of Aussies part 2 (Actually part 3. I posted Angel City a few pages ago.) Crowded House's self titled 1986 debut. This was the first cassette I ever bought. One of my all time favorite albums. Never really listened to their later material but man do I love this album. Hooky as hell. Favorite song on album

  23. Bought four beat up KP-260's recently. They had been exposed to water with crud down into the coil area on the woofers and the metal on the horn drivers corroded. Three crossovers had resistors get so hot the boards were scorched and one had the resistors fried. Another had a capacitor melted into a cute little puddle. Now the amazing thing is they all still played and sounded half way decent. I sent the crossovers off to Crites figuring there could be other problems too and I don't have equipment or skills to check crossovers out. All four woofers were no good and I decided to use Eminence Delta Pro 12A in two as recommended elsewhere and also try the Delta Pro 12-450-A. At $109 and $125 each they beat the heck out of $194 Klipsch wanted for KP-42's and all are made by Eminence I believe. They sound really nice today after all the pieces to the puzzle are assembled. I was thinking they would be like KP-250's but they are far superior to the ones I have had. The Delta Pro 12-450-A's specs dig a little deeper with 44HZ to 4KHZ compared to the 12A at 52HZ to 4.5KHZ. I could not tell by ear much difference between them but the bass in both is very nice and the high notes are very defined also. Placing them in front of the La Scalas it has better perceived separation in my shop environment than the La Scalas do. Anyone have a chance to do a direct comparison between KP-201's and KP-260's? Curious to know how they stack up since the 201's have such a reputation. These replacement speakers are slightly larger than the KP-42's were and will require some judicious die grinder work.

  24. I posted my RP280 up awhile ago and have decided to keep those and sell this set I have. They are in cherry and I am the original owner. I bought these new in 2007 and they are immaculate. I am going to sell them for $800 which is pretty fair going by ebay prices. These are located in College Station TX and I do not really want to ship them.

  26. Bought some Glenfiddich 21 yesterday...EXTREMELY pricey for my CURRENT budget...probably gonna wait 'til holiday season to crack it open. Today's sip is Dalwhinnie 15. I really like Dalwhinnie! It has Great traditional highland flavor...and very smooth. It has become one of my regular "go-to" bottles. The best Scotch I ever had, though was a Barrel-Proof Knockando that was over 120 proof...maybe even over 130 proof...can't remember...that I picked up just after Christmas at the Little Rock Air Force Base Class IV...in the mid to late 1990's...for way under half price, which was STILL way over 100 bucks! It was so smooth for its octane rating that when I took a SMALL pour of it, and felt NOTHING as the first sip went down, then within a few seconds of hitting my stomach, it was like my stomach had a heater start up inside it...just a deep WARMTH...and my face flushed and within a few MORE seconds my ears got HOT, and my speech was slurred...from just the FIRST SIP! My GAWD it was smooth with a wonderful taste on my pallet! Surry (a very old friend) and I were at his New Year's Eve party when I cracked it open (PRIOR TO THE CROWD ARRIVING), and we had first sips together, and we both looked at each other and said this is WAY TOO DANGEROUS, but it is SOOOO DAMNED GOOD! I still don't think I have ever had any Scotch come even close to that other than that ONE-time purchase of that bottle. I have looked for it for years since, and NEVER found anymore of it...but it is SURELY WORTH THE PRICE, even the NON-DISCOUNTED PRICE. If you ever get a chance for a sip, DO NOT TURN IT DOWN...But ALSO ensure you don't have to drive anywhere afterwards! If I'm lying I'm DYING! UNBELIEVABLY FANTASTIC stuff! Needless to say, Surry and I decided that since most guests would need to drive back home that night...we would just HIDE the bottle REALLY well where nobody was likely to look for anything. For a few years afterward, whenever I showed up, we would have a small sip of that stuff...sure wish I had the bottle to give more info on it, now!

  27. The upgrade is awesome @Chad . Thank you so much. I don't know if this is related at all but thought I would mention it. I have a 16 x 9 screen on my laptop, and normally the forums automatically fills the screen. Starting a day or two ago it went to a square format, with large borders on either side. After the updrade, it had gone to stretching it out automatically again. Not sure if that was because of something I inadvertently hit in some unknown "view button" or if the upgrade took care of it. Thank you for all of your hard work Chad. Travis

  28. Luckley he is on the West side, north winds are much better overall, he possibly got lucky, hope so. For now it looks like you are just far enough out the way, hope that continues. If it sticks around as long as they expect, rainfall will be the biggest problem left to deal with.

  30. I was unable to post on "The Klipsch Joint" Discus forum, so I will try here. I plan to buy a Yamaha Aventage RX-A2070 9.2 channel AV receiver. It is rated at 140 watts per channel into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.06% THD, with 2 channels driven. Maximum effective power is: 220 w/channel (1 channel driven). Dynamic power: Front L/R (8/6/4/2 Ω) ...........165/210/285/405 W. Will this receiver have enough power to drive the following Klipsch speaker setup?: RP-250F tower speakers (two); RP-450C center speaker (one); RP-250S surround speakers (two); RP-140SA Dolby Atmos speakers (four). Room size is 20ft wide x 20ft long. One wall is 10ft high and the other three are 16 ft high. Ceiling is angled and vaulted. Please advise. Thank you.

  36. Ah, IRP in Clermont, IN, I remember it well. "Camping" out across the street at a Drive-In (that was a type of movie theater for you youngsters). Last time was ~'69, in the days when they ran off stock and stock automatic classes into the bowels of the alphabet. A local Kalamazoo guy with a Jeep wagon like that used by USPS was national champ in N/stock, or something like that. Breathtaking passes in under 30 seconds. It looked like the 1948 Jeep in the attached photo. It was even green.

  40. That's the problem, torque is fun, reminding yourself two tires can only stop you so fast at speeds is where the problem comes in, and idiots not respecting bikes pulling out right in front of you.
    1 point
  41. Thanks. I had a 2000 VFR, the yellow one. Really nice sport touring bike, it was well thought out, little down on power though. I have been thinking about more of a sport tourer lately, and the FJR is tied with a ST1300 at the top of the list. The Yamaha is more sporty, lots of power huh? Nah, you would be fine. It's very easy to ride. It has so much torque, shifting is optional That's what my dentist did on mine, the implant rod on the original was knocked sideways. He hollowed it out and filled it will that bone material. I did have to let it heal for 6 months before the new implant went in. It has been fine since.

  45. I would like to hear a lot more opinions on this topic. I agree most music is dreadful today, you can't just blame the record companies for wanting just to make money. Where's the money, when nobody is buying music ? The next Hendrix, Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Elton John, Journey, would they not be enormous cash cows for the record companies ?

  46. 1. Try going to a store near you that sells lp's. They may have just the thing either used for free or new for a small price. 2. Order a single lp online that you have always wanted and reuse the box. 3. Custom make your own box. Reinforce with more cardboard on the inside to make it as protected and stiff as possible. Always label accordingly. 4. I could send you one if you want to wait several days.
