  5. I don't think so, there's a big difference between my Marantz receiver with 140 watts and my Parasound Halo A23 with 150 watts. I don't think that receivers like impedance dips very much. A nice amp opens them up more.

  10. Wow @dirtmudd that was a very special treat. Only saw Dylan in concert once, and we could not understand a word he said. He was with Tom Petty, and it was not the system. But those were great. Not a huge White Stripes fan, but now I have t have 3 more cups of coffee just out of respect for Burdon, Dylan and Plant. Bless you.

  14. Yeah, I grew up in Idaho and we always had a water softener but the tap water bypassed it. Eastern Co seems dicey because next to Kansas, and Southern Arizona gets water that has been used 20 times. I imagine that Co Springs is good, but never heard the same for NY. I went to college and my wife and I went to law school at the University of Kansas and the water their was utterly horrible. Just wretched. Good water is so great, it's a shame that we have messed so much of it up. It probably won't surprise you that I don't believe in working with what I have. I want to work with what I want.

  15. Kauai just as good if you find the right outfit. Never thought of the chocolate thing before, but it makes sense. There is a guy on the big island who grows chocolate. I called him up and asked if we could drop by and he said sure. We must have spent 6 hours with him showing us the whole process. Really quite interesting. Forgot to mix it with my coffee.

  16. Round and round we go, where we stop, nobody knows. Of course it would help to know which ride to get on. I've seen 6 year olds make faster decisions on what they want, they don't drag it out forever. They make a decision and go with it. None of this poll taking "What do you think about this, is this a fair price, is the condition what I want, my left nut itches, which hand should I use or should I ignore it and hope it goes away? Set a price, stick to it! Pick a model and stick to it! Why does a grown man need approval from people he doesn't know. I was lucky, I had people very knowledgeable help me, but the also let me step on my own dick along the way. A learning lesson. We all make mistakes along the way, hopefully you learn from it. Now go buy some Klipsch speakers on your own( be a big boy and put on your big boy pants) Share the purchase with the forum and ask for feedback or if you thick you screwed up don't ask, just show us what all this research (for you, torture for us) If you did good you will be complimented, if not you will be probably get the " that's a good starting point, pretty good move, now you have a starting point and can set a goal and direction. Pull the trigger and buy something or tell us this is going to continue, we (most of us are armed) can then point our own guns at our heads and put ourselves out of this misery Mark

  17. Congratulations. Enjoy your new speakers. If you ever tire of them, you can use the speaker wire for jumper cables or welding.

  20. I don't exactly know about brushless. I have a feeling (not researched) that the Technics tables of the late 70's and early 80's were brushless, and utilized a single magnet design. I would suspect my old table from then would have worn out by now otherwise. Admittedly I have never even thrown any lubrication oil into it for its entire life. The damn thing refuses to break! It still spins as steady as the first day. I have replaced brushes in the electrical systems of a few cars though.

  21. The advantage of direct drive is less wow and flutter, or was at the time. The drawback was hum and perhaps rumble.

  22. never really paid that much attention to those specs. i always am interested in what the coverage is in the hor and ver. i used to say.....constant directivity index does not guarantee constant coverage. constant coverage does guarantee constant directivity.

  26. There is no clicking to be heard. As for Kauai, growing coffee is more recent than 20 years, but I am not totally sure about that. Coffee is not native, that is for sure, but neither are pineapples nor macadamia nuts. Anyway, it's a little more complicated than that, but ongoing coffee operations on Kauai are more recent after disregarding the early days of failure. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee_production_in_Hawaii

  33. It is the speaker relays. Very common problem with many amps after time. If I “crank it” right after power-on it resolves itself sooner. I have three NAD 372s, one of them does the same thing. Always the right channel. Now that I am running LaScalas I have no need to bridge the amps and am using only one amp. I flipped a coin and picked one of the amps that works fine. There are many posts about fixing this, one even suggests a better relay for DIYers. I will be going tubes before I spend another dollar on SS though!

  35. Well another win by UNC and another stab in the back to Kansas. He was an unwanted and unappreciated assistant coach as UNC, and we rescued him, gave him a job and all the college girls he wanted. We made him famous and gave him great players, and then he sold us out for some plantation and 50 slaves in North Carolina. Seriously, I ran into Williams a few times while I was at Kansas, and he was just as much the decent, standup guy in person as he seems to be on TV. What a decent guy and an amazing coach. When he took the chance to go back to UNC and replace Dean Smith, not many people in Kansas held it against him. Can't help but cheer for him,

  42. Apparently I have a thing for Luxman and Accuphase gear. I did not know that about myself. Current Accuphase gear is out of my league... for now. From all the reviews from when this was their current lineup, it had very good reviews. I hope to run it for a few years and possibly send it off to be recapped if it even needs it. The internals look to be in very good shape. My P38s have a tentative buyer and will be replaced by Joseph Audio Pulsars sitting atop Core Audio Designs speaker stands. I am looking forward to pairing the Pulsars with the Luxman for a while and then I am going to switch out and pair them with the Accuphase and ARC Ref 3 for a while. These are not my pics. And it is not in my greedy little has yet. It should be here around Tuesday.

  43. I bought Rf7iis to replace my LaScalas. I auditioned Rf7s, Rf7iis, and Rf82iis and chose the Rf7iis as the hands down winner. The 82s were closer to my Rb35s than the 7s. I have the 7iis sitting next to the LaScalas a/b switched. I cannot agree more with previous post. The 7iis are great...... until you switch to the LaScalas. Wow. My 50year old ears are much more satisfied by the LaScalas' depth and presence. I would replace the Rf7iis long before the LaScalas. Although the Rf7iis are the sexiest woman at the club, the LaScalas are the life partner who makes me happy every day.
