  1. I don't do any needle drops anywhere. I always start at the beginning and play the entire album. I paid for the thing so I listen to it all. I go analytical on many wondering why it was put together the way it was. Sometimes other songs merit as well as the "ones" you like. No lift chair here yet either. But maybe. Ever wonder how many times you've gotten up to flip an album in your lifetime? Nope not me. I'm ridin the storm out til i HAVE to get up. State Trooper friend of min told me when he retired he wished he had a dime for every flip he made in his 30 years as a road wario. I said yea, me too! Had a good laff outta that one. )

  3. Sing a long today!!! I'd always heard the 2011 Steven Wilson re-mix of this Ian Anderson staple of so many rockers today FINALLY released in 180gram and trust me it's ahhhhhmazing! Totally enhanced taking some of the brittle high ends off and dialing in razor sharp enhancing everything. @Mossy bottomya listening??? Now order the thing and you'll get lost in a heartbeat. 😂 😎 It just keeps getting better! Yup, if you ever enjoyed Aqualung as a listen you're waaaay cra cra if you pass it up.

  4. Took advantage of a bit of well deserved down time. It actually was a nice 73 here yesterday but then came the new front. Rain all nite and most of the morning and my puddles in the yard are back. 51 outside today sucks soooo... Unzipped a few. A 2020 remaster of a 5000 RSD release on 180 gram w/a couple extra bonus tracks. Actually a pretty solid album w/layered bass tracks which add to the sound imo. Worth the money? IF you like Rush it's a winner but Geddy adds to the coolness factor. It's easy peasy and cooks too. Got a sub for the bass tracks? It's stellar here. Very good lp just runnin w/o the sub on my LS too. Solid and captivating. No Neil on drums but Matt Cameron fills in and sounds fantastic. The YouTube vid? Lee's concept and thoughts on the lp are alllll there. IF ya like Rush snag it if ya can. My Favourite Headache (also published as My Favorite Headache, especially in the United States) is the debut solo album by Geddy Lee of Canadian rock band Rush. The album was released on November 14, 2000, by Anthem Records in Canada and Atlantic Records outside of Canada. Both the title track and "Grace to Grace" received play on mainstream rock radio, and the album itself peaked at No. 52 on the Billboard 200.

  5. Buck was a mans man. Billy Gibbons and his knit hat and sunglasses are a part of his public persona. All of the men in those shots were super nice, talented and very friendly. I spent a day with Buck and I spent a day with Billy and another day with Billys wife. they were awesome experiences being around all of them. I was the last person to have a photo shoot with Buck before he passed. He invited me to his home for dinner but I had to get back home and I told him I would take a rain check and come back and see him but he died shortly after that shoot. Billy offered to make me dinner but again I had to return home. He later texted me that night and said I should have stayed because Jay Leno had stopped by shortly after I left. Dang!!!!!!

  8. Yesterday for work, I went on site. Drove about 60 miles to get to a Dept of Children Services location. Visited (individually) with about seven women and a single male. They have a pension and a 401K. Part of what I do is review their reality with both benefit plans. I had one gal with me, I'll call her Tammy Jones...nice gal, down to earth, conventional... on looking at her pension she had a beneficiary, also named Tammy (however, last name was Smith). The Beneficiary was posted as a spouse. Ok, so that threw me for a curve. I've dealt with folks who have a special loved one....but I couldn't shake out of my head..... EVERYTHING about this gal is what I'd call 100% conventional. VERY conservative. That she might be married to another woman struck me as not fitting what I was seeing, BUT, there it is in front of me so it is what it is. I went through her pension benefits and, having never done this before, was making reference that if something happened to "her" then Tammy would get her pension. She said she understood all of this by the time I was done. I kicked over to the 401K account. When reviewing beneficiaries, she had "Billy Jones" down as her primary and Timmy & Sally (children) as her contingents. They were messed up a bit, (dates of birth missing kind of thing) so I dug into them a bit more. She commented that she knew she needed to adjust them so, me knowing she was married to Tammy Smith, showed her how to DELETE Billy. She had an uneasy 'giggle' that she understood... and to be blunt, I don't recall how we got from this stage to the next..... she said something..... maybe like "Why would I want to DELETE my HUSBAND???" To which I got confused. There was an odd 'vibe' through the entire conversation. I finally decided to just talk about the elephant in the room, her spouse Tammy. I said I presume Billy is the father of your children and your ex husband??? Uh.....no. Billy IS my Husband, why would you think that? I go to her pension and point out her Beneficiary Tammy. She says "THAT's ME" and now I understood. She was a new employee. She wanted everyone to know that the pension was to benefit HER verses someone else, not realizing that it's hers by definition and only upon her passing, does it maybe go to someone else. So she had put her OWN name down as Beneficiary (Tammy SMITH) She had then married, had children and changed her name to Tammy JONES and didn't know any better about how to properly designate a beneficiary NOR did she ever go back to change her maiden name to her married name as beneficiary. So this entire time, I thought she was gay, married now to another woman and I approached the entire conversation a bit on egg shells so that I didn't say something that might be offensive to her (don't know that I would since I try to be respectful anyway, I was just being extra aware of the situation) She sensed something amiss with me and felt that I was saying some things to her in a bit of a joking way that she TOTALLY didn't understand (talking about if she (Tammy) died, then Tammy would get her pension. How could Tammy get Tammy's pension, if Tammy was dead? Well, I had no clue since I thought Tammy was Tammy's spouse. So we finally got it figured out and she's going to fix it (because if she leaves it as is, then NOBODY gets her pension if she passes) We had a nice giggle about this at the end, once we both had full clarity of what was going on and what was on the mind of the other as we had conversed.

  14. Some of what you are looking at is the effects of your room on bass. Other than doing some type of bass treatment, there is not much you can do to fix that problem. I HIGHLY encourage you to disable YPAO, although I don't have any experience with that system, after many years of working and struggling against Audyssey Pro, I got rid of it and have never looked back. If you get really motivated, and have some open space in your back yard, take one of your La Scala's outside and take a sweep outside. Not quite an anechoic chamber, but will give you an idea of just how much your room affects your performance. I live on acreage, so fairly easy for me to do without any neighbor's houses close enough to affect the results. If you want to look at the theoretical expectation, use the REW room simulation to show you how your room dimensions affect the bass of your system. This is why the listening environment is what we should all focus on to optimize performance, not speaker cables or other snake oils.

  16. Links is working fine for me. I just bought a few of these damp sheets at the local car shop.. It was really cheap, so in the worst case scenario I will only lose some time. If I have the time I will try this modification next weekend. Looking forward to try this out t, I'm really curious what the result will be 😀 For now I know what to do. In two weeks my tubeamplifier wil be modified, waiting for all the parts now. New and better tubes, new caps, and some other minor tweaks.. At the same time I will replace the old caps on my filter for new ones. Maybe it will improve the sound quality, if not.. It was worth the try If after these modifications I still think that the sound does not sound clear enough, then I will try the titanium Tweeter modification.

  18. The IV is definitely a more modern, more linear / audiophile sounding speaker. Which makes it a BETTER speaker objectively for most. But some might prefer the more colored sound of the III... that midrange horn on the IV however is a masterpiece and the tiny mid horn on the previous versions is seriously limiting the speaker. Personally I think the CW IV is one of the very best speakers money can buy and, although not cheap, is fantastic value compared to the competition.

  21. I’ll chime in as a former P-17b owner. They don’t sound like Klipsch, they sound like Klipsch trying to compete with B&W high end speakers. No soul no excitement. Smooth and bland. Non offensive but they don’t put on a show. Different strokes for different folks but I’d take the Heresy’s everyday and twice on tuesdays.

  25. Mary McCaslin’s voice was pure silver. We saw her several years ago at a very small venue here. She looked frail and her voice was all but lost - still a very touching performance. We got to visit with her a bit too. As of a couple of years ago, she was confined to a wheelchair suffering from progressive supranuclear palsy, “a neurodegenerative brain condition similar to Parkinson’s disease,” and no longer able to play guitar or sing. In my humble opinion, she recorded the finest version ever of Ghost Riders in the Sky. Give this a listen.

  28. I have tried quite a few low power amps with my CF3's. I've had a 5 watt to 30 watt tube amps, 8 watt Class T amps. A couple of Topping T amps, spec'd at 50 watts at 4 ohms and 25 at 8ohms. I have a Class D amp now from Nobsound that uses the TP3255 chip, that says 300 watts per side, but is nowhere near that. They all sounded really nice on the Epics and of course the Class T and Class D amps stay cool to the touch. This is what I have now. https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Power-Amplifier-Stereo-Desktop/dp/B08GQL6BJJ/ref=sr_1_31?crid=XOQA59DVM6JD&keywords=nobsound+tp3255&qid=1646689752&sprefix=nobsound+tp3255%2Caps%2C203&sr=8-31

  29. I understand that when in home theater settings but he had it configured to full range speakers and no subwoofer. I should have been more specific with the question. Where he has the the receiver in full range and no subwoofer setting that doesn't mean the processing is off, it's just in a different mode. I can't think of any situation besides home theater mode where the programming would cut bass this drastically, especially when we have found that loudness controls are popular and typically at lower volumes the bass is boosted. Basically I am wondering if there is something actually defective with the receiver. If at all possible try the same test with a different amplifier.

  33. Went out to the bowling alley this afternoon to watch the oldest daughter bowl in the Ladies Invitational. Yea, we all did it. Admit it! Somehow she won the match. 6 strikes in a row for the win. Hahaha Tomorrow a repeat of today. Think "They" were a bit off today with their 70's forecast. Highest on my phone was 67 but whatever it was it FELT cold.

  36. I have to heartily agree with @RandyH on this one. While the Heresy will have the advantage in bass punch, the Palladium midrange and high frequencies are much better. The 4.5" horn-loaded midrange driver is simply magical. The highs are very smooth, silky, and well extended. If you can audition them first, you should. Once I heard the P-37F that my friend offered to sell me (he was getting La Scala), I had to have them. Now I have a house full of palladiums.

  41. That's it, stranges thing I had ever seen, almost. After I posted that I went looking to find pictures and could fine no info. It made me wonder if the two ferrys we buils were still the boat use now or is it newer boats, it was a long time ago. Thank you for finding that, I thought I was wrong but I do remember what I seen. You did better than me, it was on land when I was on it and it was no fun. I quit my job right before it was launched. The boat was done and when we went to work every morning they would hand us a broom and tell us to look busy or disapear. I guess they needed to have a certain man hours and we were done, 12 houras day is a long time to hide, you can only sleep so much to the point I could not sleep at night.

  42. That was a really strange design, it had two wheelhouses and no back, when it pulled into either dock for people to get off the captain would just walk out to the other end and there was an exact wheelhouse on the other end. That made sense but the reall odd part was the stering, instead of propellers it had paddles mounted on about a 10' wide thick steel disc that would spin around. As it spun a computer (I guess) moved the paddles to propel it in the direction the captain moved the joystick. The paddles would spin around and the disc would spin around the paddles only turned to put the wide side to push in the correct direction. OK it's hard to explain.
