  1. This is called a false dichotomy. It presents a complex situation as an either/or choice, which is totally misleading. Your country and mine each have enough money to help their own citizens while also helping the people of Ukraine during this terrible invasion. It's not an either/or choice. Memes with this kind of message pop up often on Facebook and other social media, but often originate overseas, like from Russia or China. They serve only to stir up hate and disagreement among us, so they should never be shared. There's a low-level cyberwar going on, with things like this being generated daily, by actual foreign cyber soldiers. Memes that sow discord among us should be thought of as little weapons against democracy, propelled only by people who share them, because they're innocent enough to think the memes are harmless, amusing, or worse, a good idea. Sure, most memes are amusing or entertaining, but don't share the ones that are meant to stir up arguments and nasty feelings. They hurt our countries and our people, all of us.

  9. Rut roh a West coast connection kinda maybe. Such a great album from 1968. Cheap Thrills is the second studio album by American rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company. It was their last album with Janis Joplin as lead singer before she started a solo career. :)

  10. As someone that owns both forte 1s and Forte IVs I think I have said what differences I have experienced. The Forte IVs have a wider and deeper soundstage than the 1s. The IVs are smoother top to bottom and the bass is more punchy. I definitely think that for the genres I listen to all Fortes benefit from a well integrated subwoofer. There can be a lot of music in the lower registers that no version of the Forte can accurately energize. In my mind the IVs with a fast sub is music bliss to my ears. The Forte 1s sound awesome with my REL sub but the IVs blow my mind. I’m lucky to own both 1s and IVs.

  11. Ouch.... My old RZ. I regret selling it but the offer was far beyond what I had any right to ask and I hadn't ridden it in a couple years. Fresh engine top to bottom. Think I spent $200 on OEM fasteners for the rebuild. I had that thing for 20 years and 50K miles....and one landspeed record.

  15. They're mine. Tons of feedback in the first couple days of listing. Universal praise for their looks: comments all over the board on the asking price. I guess that would make it right then. The biggest complainers are naturally the guys with khorns that can't believe you could ever improve on them. You would have thought I gave the Venus de Milo a boob job.

  17. ^^^^ what Maynard said. My stock PL tubes were getting some hours so I just freshened things up w/Kevin's cryo stash of Gold Lions. They do sound sweet. Good luck!

  18. In the late 2000's I bought a pair of WE 300Bs for my Wright Mono7s. They were from the late 90's when Westex reintroduced them. This was before they got "really stupid" in price. I had been listening to Sophia meshplates. My impression was "meh", I thought they sounded smooth but dull. I sold them to a friend (but kept the wood box!). I now run TJ Full Music carbon plates, I think they have the best synergy with the 6sn7 drivers in my system. Flevoman, I think you'll notice the biggest sonic changes from rolling your preamp tubes or your amp's driver tubes, depending on your topology.

  19. There were a few issues I had with the Forte III and BTW the III didn't get the best of reviews by a number of audio listeners. It's the same issue I have with the IV even though I prefer the IV over the III and the Forte I over both. First, is the bass. The bass on the III and the IV doesn't go as deep as the Forte I and it's audible too. It's also evident in their specs even though I'm not into specs all that much. This is probably why we see so many threads with listeners who complain about needing a subwoofer for the Forte III's and IV's. We keep seeing this over and over in the forums. It amazes me how much the newer Forte's cost, not to mention that most feel more bass is still needed, so subs now have to be added which adds additional cost to something that's already overpriced to begin with. I can more than afford a pair of III's or IV's but they're not what the marketing pumps them up to be. The next issue is the top end. Neither the III or the IV has the same sweetness on the top end that the Forte I has. I'm not an engineer so I'm not qualified to say what the real cause is. Maybe it has something to do with the crossovers? My biggest guess is that it may have something to do with the tweeters in the Forte I being phenolic tweeters and the III and IV being titanium tweeters, I'm not sure. All I can tell is that the Forte I has a sweeter and smoother top end so I don't know what the big deal is with titanium in fact I think they use polyamide tweeters on the latest Klipschorn's, I can't remember for sure. The next issue on the Forte III and IV is the midrange combined with the top end. I don't know if it's because of the shape of the mid horn itself, I'm not an expert on it, but I can hear it with various jazz instruments. For those wanting a demonstration of the lack of coherency I'm referring to, put on a pair of headsets or earbuds and listen to this video. At about 6:13 of the video, he will switch from the Heresy IV to the Forte IV. Immediately when the woman's voice kicks in, the upper range sounds dispersed or lost and no longer sounds as coherent. This has also been expressed by a number of individuals. Huff later goes on the say that the Forte IV is a jack of all trades speaker. To my ears, the Forte I already does everything perfectly in my opinion and they cost a 5th the price. To get a better idea of what I'm talking about, imagine a trumpet with a horn shape that's be further opened to something like a bugle. The bell shape on a bugle is opened up further, so it doesn't sound as coherent. I don't mind if someone prefers one speaker over another, but it helps if others would try to describe why.

He added tank gripper panels, new exhaust, new handlebar levers, and a new LED rear tail light and plate relocation kit. He is an experienced rider, but I still wish he would find another hobby!! Like audio maybe, LOL! Here are a couple pics before the mods...(last pic is catalog shot from Yamaha)

  24. It is not possible to generalize about how a particular brand of tube will sound in a given piece of equipment. Even within a given brand normal production tolerances can result in subtle performance differences depending on the way the tubes are utilized. Then there is the issue of individual preference of sound. One person may listen to an amp and love it while someone else may dislike it intensely. You need to conduct your own experiments and draw your own conclusions. And, keep in mind, that there are times when a run of the mill NOS GE tube will sound better to a listener than a much more costly brand. Maynard

  25. @edzu1234 Kevin Deal said that he advises customers to just run the tubes that came with the Prima Luina as they are very good tubes. And he can easily sell more tubes if he gave other advice. So I think that you should start five threads and buy as many tubes as possible in the next week or so. 😈 Seriously, of course you are excited, but just try your amp for a little while.

  26. If you like good sax sound And (to me) good music, try perhaps Dexter Gordon „I am a fool to want you“, the 1965 recording. BTW besides the great classics I am very pleased that there is a new young generation of really good jazz musicians. I fell in love with the tenor sax sound and improvisation of Julieta Eugenio, a young Argentinian with her first album "Jump" from 2022, e.g. the piece "For you".

  29. My '81 FLH has over 300K on the chassis and it's in the middle of a restoration that has taken way too long.. Hell the '20 Road King pictured above has 46K on it. No way of knowing. Raced open class MX for almost 50 years. Only once did it require a hospital stay and that was all my fault. Still have my race bikes cannot seem to part with them.

  39. No but someone I trust took it in. I'm not super surprised that it is NDF. Different location, load etc. But no harm no foul. Did not cost me anything to audition it. I'll shop a bit but I'm staying away from "boutique". AR, Quicksilver, Primaluna,Unison, etc. Folks with a history. Sounded darn good though. Hopefully my room is not possessed...

  43. I have an EVO 400 that came with EL34s - all stock Primaluna tubes. I changed outthe two center preamp tubes to Kevins Stash Gold Lions and the EL34s to KT150s and I love the way it sounds now. The bass is deep and powerful and the mid range and highs sound fantastic. Still very warm and holographic but much more punch down low - More of a solid state feel for the low bass but all the warmth of an all tube Integrated.

  44. That would be a great opportunity to listen to them, exactly the way we heard them at the last JubFest. You're not going to find a more ideal setup than that. Also, if Roy is running the show that day, it will be a great opportunity to ask questions.
