  1. Lil ol restaurant at the second to last turn of one way coming home was crowded tonight. Had the Italian colors on the sign! Love Italian food so I stopped. Napoli Cowboy, a cross of Ital & TX food. Special was seared Sea Bass with Crab sauce for 40, there are some ordinary prices on more ordinary fare there.Got a dessert and coffee to go because I'd eaten already. This bread pudding weighed about a pound and a half! Ate about 60%, I'll have the rest with fresh coffee tomorrow.

  2. Hi at all they spend their time for me. how @OO1 sad, don’t wait to long, so I had a appointment to the guy who sell the 3. So I made the deal this eavening and because my trunk was to small for a pair of Cornwalls the guy bring them to my hous. It was a great person. So I heard the last 3 hours my favorite songs and I am happy. The condition is near mint in walnut. So I will take some days to hear more, if you all are interestedly I will give you a feedback on next weekend. Thanks for all the information. I think I know the next steps: a. Find some new furniture for my wife (the walnut don’t match with our actually furniture) b. Look for a new amp were are the yellow guy with rolling eyes 🙂 here🤪

  5. For anyone out there losing sleep over my upgrade woes (I'm sure that is absolutely no one) ... sleep well tonight. I don't know if it was break-in (I let them run for two full days) or changes I made to my room treatments, but all is now good. More than good. The nasally, bullhorn-ish sound I was getting is gone, and I can second the original poster's rave review. I absolutely loved my IIIs and only upgraded because I can't resist the possibility of eking out just that little bit more from my system. This upgrade gave me much more than just a little bit more. The bass punch and finesse, and the depth and layers (it's the layers more than anything!) that I'm now hearing in the soundstage are just amazing. The Decware/Forte IV combo really might have me at the end of my search. I can't see myself wanting to upgrade either amp or speakers anytime soon, if ever.

  8. They fit nicely in the back of my Durango. I probably won't get them out of the car until tomorrow. Current plan, subject to any other advice on this forum, is to dsconnect, clean with deoxit, and reconnect all speaker connections to the XOs. If tweeter and/or mid still dead, I'll swap each to the other speaker and try again. Is a silent tweeter a sign of a bad diaphragm or should I still have a blown speaker sound to it? Hoping the fact that both are silent but one on each speaker is due to the connections. Fingers crossed.

  9. First thing if you get them home is to loosen crossover Screws, and retighten them and recheck connections to speakers in question.

  11. @Von Hoellert If I were looking for a Cornwall, I wouldn't waste a second and would buy this Cornwall 1 immediately....directly to the Netherlands.... 2 to 3 hours drive from Cologne and catch this CW1 @Flevoman linked. It has often been said here that the CW1 sounds better than the CW3, but I would leave that to those who have already experienced it. If money is a factor, then the CW1 for €1,150 is three times the better buy than the CW3 for €2,500. You might have to replace the capacitors, but that's about it. The photos look like they inspire confidence, it's not for nothing that the seller has a Mcintosh amp from the same period as the CW1. I have already posted it elsewhere in the forum. I use hifishark.com, a hifi metasearch engine that collects updated adverts from everywhere on the planet. You can register for free and get an email every day with new entries. Martplaats from the Netherlands is also scanned, as well as Audiomarkt, Ebay, Kleinanzeigen etc. from Germany. You have to scroll down a bit to skip all the US offers. Here is an example link, you could also search more selective for e.g. Cornwall 3. https://www.hifishark.com/search?q=Klipsch+Cornwall

  20. @KT88 keep in mind Amir would probably never recommend any of our “beloved” Tube Amplifiers based on their measurements. Measurements are definitely important but they hardly tell the complete story at the stage we are currently living in and it all ultimately has to pass the “Listening Experience of a Human” in the real world. miketn🙂

  21. I quit using tone controls and or EQ decades ago. Not needed when everything right. I am referring to high end audio where one spends lots of money for a pure signal. Tone controls and EQ is for the masses and not audiophiles serious about sound reproduction. But then this hobby is entertainment and if one desires manipulated sound I say go for it. There is no right or wrong. With a trained ear one can hear a difference though. You do not find tone controls on Nelson Pass linestages, preamps, for an example. And they are not cheap.

  24. I'm not trying to answer for @henry4841, but my take is that if you have a source with 2v output, have 104 db speakers, and an amplifier with high(ish) input sensitivity, you are a prime candidate for a passive linestage.

  37. 1957 Ampex console first stereo console. This is a good one. I've had it for years and taken many stabs at restoration. I finally made some progress. The amps, preamp, and tuner are now functionally. I also added some bluetooth. The record changer is going to be swapped and the RTR need serious help. The belts fell out the motor needs some work. All that being said I have a tuner and bluetooth for now. The guts all spread out so we can find issues more easily. Nice little JBL 8" full rangers.

  38. XLR/balanced cables are a technique for cancelling noise in long cable runs, especially in high gain circuits like microphones. Nothing else to it. Depending on the EM environment around your system, they may or may not reduce noise over RCA shielded cables. They will not make things worse. Try them.

  39. The only other thing I can think of is the wiring might be wrong somewhere else when you installed it. Unplug the speaker wires and speaker binding panel and start there. Failing that pull the tweeter and mid and recheck those. That being said I can’t imagine you did anything wrong, the install is simple enough even considering the tweeter. Which is the same tweeter as you already have except for a phase plug which is supposed to smooth things out. Supposedly the crossover accounts for most of the change anyway. I’ve read from another Forte IV owner the quality of the binding posts are not good. Hard to disagree with that. I’ve ordered some copper posts and I’m going to solder the wires. He did this mod and said the sound got even smoother. Easy enough mod and easy to reverse. BTW the image above the original is on the right.

  42. Perhaps your question is a bit too open-ended. Are you expecting everyone to post an extensive list of tubes along with an explanation of how they sound? Or do you mean which tube sounds most pleasant in their system and why?

  43. Just keep in mind @MMurg has experience also with these in the larger Klipsch Lab Listening Room and is we’ll aware of how they can reproduce sound in a much larger room. @MMurg So I’m curious can you describe the sense of imaging and soundstage scale in your room 🆚 the imaging and soundstage scale as experienced in the Klipsch Lab Listening Room..? miketn🙂

  45. yeah, I'm not too worried, more amused that the dealers didn't really know what they were doing, if in fact there is a right and left. Of course, that would also mean that the buyers didn't know what they were supposed to get either and never read the Manual. I have never seen a pair exactly like mine and I guess being a decorator model means any mods will be unique. The top hat sides go all the way back to the wall and the bass bins have no sides to hide any thing. The top hat lid is chip board too whilst the base is plywood and there is only one vertical brace, right in the centre at the rear. I'm guessing that the top hat lid might be a DIY addition too as I see pix of some K'horns with no lids. By enclosed backs do you mean a false corner? As mine back onto a brick wall I've toyed with the idea of fitting these. I'm assuming the previous owner fitted the longer top hat sides thinking that he would hear an improvement. Ian

  47. I just purchased a Scott 299B tube amp to refurbish to go with my recently purchased LaScala's. I was wondering if my old solid state Yamaha tuner (approx 20 yrs old) would be fine or is it better to have a tube tuner? It does'nt seem like it would make much difference but I thought I could get some input. I also noticed some folks use a sub with these amps and I'd like to have that option but don't know how you would hook up such a system. Thanks, Gary.

  48. Lew, I still have a pair of NEW UNUSED white ksf-s5's. I rememberyou were interested in black ones but the white is actually very elegant looking and really disapear on the walls compared to black(great WAF too if that's a factor). Need $260.00+ups ground shipping (around $15). Good luck on your search, Gary.
