tromprof
Amps I didn't like: Sony ES series and Adcom. Amps I really liked: Crown PS_200 and D_75a, Pioneer D3. I wonder with the good reputation of the Sony and Adcom amps if their was some other explanation for the dislike. Both made my k-horns sound very ear piercing and 2 dimensional, but it could have been in combination with other components in the system at the time. It seems like the big horns are revealing but it can be hard sometimes to pinpoint exactly where the negative sound is coming from. I have occasionally been listening to a recording and wondering what the bell just happened to my system because it suddenly sounds soon bad. Turns out it is faithfully reproducing a crappy recoring. NBPK402
Hypex Ncore amplifier are among the best amplifiers I ever heard. I use NC1200 and my search for good amplifier is over I have seriously thought about going with the Hypex Ncore amps, but I don't know if I could make it by myself.
baron167
Over the last 20 years my Yamaha R-8 has done an exceptional job powering a Heresy II Signature Series pair. More recently, having opportunities to acquire 2 R-9's, La Scalas and Klipshorns, I can say the R-9's do better than the R-8. I always loved the flat loudness feature on the R-8 and the R-9 has this as well. I strictly run with tone bypass engaged. Rolling the flat loudness allows for quick adjustments to listening conditions. I highly recommend both models.
Rxonmymind
Realistic 2100D. I've yet to hook up my Sony str 7055 as it's being recapped. But when it does....
Schu
+1 for wanting to really try a ncore hypex... should have purchased rodneys. Still... perfectly happy with Bel Canto monoblocks.
paul79
The best Ncore mousetrap that is available right now IMO is the Nord. The One Up version provides an input board that allows you to roll opamps or even discrete opamps. I listened to the monoblock version for a long time in my system recently, and they sound terrific. Not near as dry sounding as other class D amps I have heard. Edited June 26, 2016 by paul79
chriswhotakesphotos
Adcom GFA-535. It's not reputed to sound the best with Klipsch, but mine pushes my Heresies very well. For $100 ($150 if you're impatient), it's a slightly-bright but dynamic amp that I've enjoyed very well. I've had it through three pairs of Klipschs (Synergy F-20, RP-280F and KP-201/Heresy II) and it definitely sounds the best with the Heresy. teaman
Nice work Arash, be careful not to slice your fingers open on the edges!
richieb
That is some impressive machining for sure. With the skill showed on the casework I'd bet the edges are chamfered nicely as well.
DizRotus
That is amazing! Now I feel silly putting my TPA3118 "Wiener" board in an aluminum case I got off eBay, but I will and I'll enjoy it.
Ducatist
Anyone got an electrical schedule for a Goldring SÄ 60 Solid State Amplifier please. Just rescued this from the graveyard bin. Switched it on and it blew the .7 amp fuse. Fuse seems the right value, 240V 130watts. Like to repair this old SS amp.
codewritinfool
I'm working on a Tom Christiansen Modulus-86. Can't wait to hear how it sounds. Anyone familiar with that amp?
2Bmusic
+1 on Sansui then x100. I have listened to or tried many SS amps. ( tubes too) The Khorns are making sounds that are breathtaking with the BAF1 and CAF1 I am now using. A fraction of the cost of most all options, and a sound that blows away everything I have tried. Vanishing low THD and TIM, and super fast and amazing 200V/ microsecond.... they leave nothing wanting!!!
