  1. Thank you for those who were involved with my quest. I've learned a great deal about Klipsch speakers in this garage forum. I've also gotten to know a bit more about some of you After over five months of searching and bugging some of you guys with questions, I'm now the owner of the Chorus 2's found on CL. I just passed up on some Forte 2's in great shape for $500.00 I have to stop somewhere. Seriously, I have to stop. This stuff can be addictive! What? Upgrade the crossover...oh, and go for the titanium tweeters.... If I keep going, I won't be able to afford more duct tape for this old la z boy.... and I will be sleeping in the garage with the dog...and I don't think she will let me take the speakers out there! You guys are awesome. Thanks again! Harmony08

  3. El Paso is addictive. Maybe it's the trace lithium in the water. When I got to Ft. Bliss I remember mentioning to someone it was about as barren a place as I'd ever seen. He said if you stayed one full turn of seasons, you never get over it. I thought he was nuts as the very idea of "seasons" just didn't fit in the desert. But he was right. Going four wheeling into the desert day or night. The stars were magnificent. When it rained, we'd all head out as the desert would explode with flowers. The only real white Christmas, that it, snow on Christmas morning, I ever experienced was there. Got about 7 inches and it was magnificently beautiful. I was living on the Rio Grande in an adobe house that had been the main house of a farm in the 30s. The old man that owned it still kept sheep and those who were pregnant all dropped their lambs in the snow. He was waiting as he knew this would happen. What a sight! All these fresh new lambs leaping around in the snow! Here's a picture of the house. 22" thick interior and exterior walls, 10 inch of rammed earth in the ceiling, and evaporative cooler. In the winter, a fire kept going over a weekend would cause the wall to heat the house for another 3 days due to the mass. Dave

  5. Good afternoon everyone...... Well, thank you for that dTel...... Yes, we are causal here also, but sometimes it is nice to get 'fancy' Ok, yesterday was my automatic, hanging plant watering system installation.... Of course, the supplied 50' hose ran short and I had two more plants to get to on the far side of the deck (stairwell end)... PLUS, I ran out of those little 1/4" half round plastic clamps with the single nail in them. Got on the motorcycle, had a wonderful 85mph. run down the brand new blacktopped highway to Home Depot, Northface back pack on for storing shopping items, arrived in record time, picked up 50' more of hose, 3 bags of those little clamps and 100 UV tywraps for stock... AND, 4 Eveready lithium batteries which was highly recommended by the 'Rain Drip' company... ALSO, a new brushed metal hand sprayer for the kitchen sink which needed replacing! (finished that job this morning, no more leaks under the sink!) Ok, finished the job by sundown, and tested it in manual mode, no leaks, all 7 plants now have water daily and I don't have to run out there with a watering can AGAIN, which was always time consuming before heading out to work each morning... Today, I finished neatening up the water tubes under the deck and set the timer to run 4 times in a 24 hour period at 30 minutes each. The system delivers 1/2 gal. every hour, so, this setting will be similar to my water can, only much more even watering throughout the period. This also negates the asking of neighbors to water while we are away to N.C. on vacation. I am sure they will be happy to be relieved of that task ! Ok, Bill Evans radio on Pandora, cranked at a good clip outdoors............time to work on music.........dinner is OUT this evening, that will be nice for a change Enjoy your day and music my friends.........more later.... ...............Gary

  12. Had the pleasure of traveling to Bob Crites shop yesterday to pick up some parts for my cornscalas. Got to listen to some great speakers, mainly the jubilees that he has ,man what a wonderful sound!! Great guy to visit with and learned some klipsch and Crites history. Had been thinking about changing my center channel out, but w as going to do it as a later project. Then Bob had to fire up his new center and I was hooked, very clear and clean plus put out some serious spl. So by the time I left I had cornscala parts plus he is shipping me the parts for the center. Went to the shop today and built the box for the center and got final coat of clear on my top hat for my last jamboree. Going to finish the center and my speaker building is coming to a end till next year!! Staying away form Bob for a while before I go broke. If you ever get the chance, go to Bob's shop it is speaker heaven and he is a great guy to deal with. He will give you good advice and try not to break the bank.

Dave Cool Dave.....I was there for about two years.....I saw it snow once there....got a few inches, but it was all gone by mid afternoon. I lived on the other side of the El Paso.....over the mountain....Trans Mountain. I moved on base when housing became available for me and the wife. I worked over on the airfield....Biggs Army Airfield. If I remember....it seemed like there were three seasons.....Summer, Winter and the Windy season....I remember the winds were so bad we had to bring the helicopters in the hanger at times. We would go over to Juarez Mexico quite a bit and drink the mezcal....we would buy a bunch of miniatures of the mezcal they would all have the worms in them. I think I must of ate 20+ worms one night......oh yea good ole El Paso.... MKP :-)

  15. I have successfully kicked sugar. My Glucose went from 125 to 99-105. Doctors say fruit sugars are ok. I took a reading 8 times a day to see what was going on. A small meal would jump it to 172 then it would return to normal about a couple hours later. One time I ate a small Texas pink grapefruit and the sugar went to 262 the highest I ever saw on the meter then recovered later. I assume my system doesn't like grapefruits. I also now use wheat bread for all bread products. No Soda pop, wine, Bush beans, French Dressing, etc. as they are all saturated/loaded with sugar. No sugar in coffee either. If I do eat a piece of cake it tastes like a pure sugar bowl. No Ice Cream or yogurt, no cookies either. Sugar free dark chocolate candy is ok with alcohol sugars as it only half a-- affects you. My Cholesterol went down and my blood pressure when down 20 points. My weight went down 30 pounds. My BMI is now normal. Why did I drastically change my diet? My new doctor is a young female and very attractive so I decided to listen to her. JJK

  23. Just drink the kool aid, it is a fun ride. I caught the bug 3.5 years ago and despite many visits to audio anonymous, I just can't stop myself. Congratulations on the Chorus II, they are an awesome speaker. If you are space confined, the Forte I/II are an excellent choice (spec'd to 32 Hz too). Luckily, I have been able to buy/sell/upgrade enough to sustain my addiction. It helps that my wife isn't very observant and doesn't go to the basement often. However, recently she said "I went to the basement and there seems to be MORE than I remember." Luckily, I responded "Yes" and she didn't pursue the issue.

  26. The museum affords the opportunity to listen to all of the speakers on display in the room, although the rather tight quarters doesn't really do any of them justice in terms of acoustics. I joked about A/B'ing the Cornwall right next to the La Scala as shown..."will sell a pair of Cornwall speakers every time!" ...Then there's Valerie's pair of Golden Jubillee, front and center. The two-way top end arrangement goes a long way to passively cleaning up the time domain issues of three-way design. I'll admit, it was a grave mistake to try and film them using a brand new cell phone, while I had my "real" video camera stashed out in the car. I risked it and naturally it murdered them. Didn't want to impose any further than we already had. It was a treat to experience all of this and the NMSU campus none the less.

  29. Price lowered to $400 + shipping! @joessportster: I, like many people into audio and tubes, like to try out different circuit designs and tubes. Therefore, I buy and sell amps as I try them out. If I had all the money in the world, I would keep every one of them, but I can only afford to own a few amps at any given time. I did purchase this amp when I saw it appear on eBay, as I was intrigued by the clementine 1626 circuit and the style of this amplifier. It was being offered for a little under $400 shipped, which I thought was a killer deal. It's a great amp, sounded amazing in my system, but I haven't developed any attachment to it. I want to narrow down my collection, sell some amplifiers to purchase another - sound familiar? I personally don't see why I have to sell something at the exact price I purchased it at, or lower, when I decide to sell it for whatever reason, as long as I am selling it for a reasonable price. Even at $550, this amp is a good deal. Now that I've lowered it to $400, it is a killer deal, just like when I purchased it. I'm not "flipping" amps, I'm just trying to enjoy the hobby on a budget that doesn't allow the retention of gear that I'm not using. Thanks for the concern.

  30. Bread and grain is controversial. 1. These highly processed and engineered foods are new to modern man. Not necessary, and not yielding good results. 2. Dr. Wm. Davis contend that modern hybrid wheat contains a protein that excites the hunger switch in brain. The more you eat, the more you want. Result? Obesity epidemic. 3. Stop wheat for two weeks you no longer even miss it. 4. Of you are overweight, weight loss occurs easily when you stop grains. 5. Wheat is totally not essential to nutrition. 6. Wheat glutens are becoming ubiquitous in processed foods. About them like the plague. 7. If you have diabetes these simple carbs are very bad. 8. Government says EIGHT servings a day of whole grains!! Lol complete BS! but I bet lots of people follow the government recommendation with faith! Want to feel 18 again? Give up breads grains!

  31. I eat alot of fruit and GRAINS and breads - I weighed 125 lbs when I was 16. I'm now 54 and I weigh 125 lbs. I do not believe Grains\breads are bad for you (subjective). Probably a moderation factor there. Too much of anything is not good. Don't get me wrong, I like what you say and it's a good thing.

  33. Good afternoon everyone....................well, looks like everyone has business to attend to ... dTel, I thought I would kick up the coffee topic a bit with a touch of luxury Hmmmm, what will I think of next............. Anyway, my morning was the breakfast outdoors, THEN, a long and usual Skype session with Pezz from RTM, then dropped everything and headed out on the motorcycle for the performance shop for an inspection sticker!! Normally, May is the month here in MA. when all bike inspections are performed, but, with my busy sched. I had NO time to do this. So, I risked a moving violation (at least my reg. is up to date) and rode to the next town. Passed one town cop in an Explorer, but we would have not seen my plate and that was the only close call... I am good now until Dec. Left the bike out because I may have to make a run to the hardware store OR Homer D. for some hardware and hose for my NEXT project today... YES, I bought an automatic watering system just like the type they have at the nursery for watering all the hanging plants in the green houses.. I want to make this a permanent install, but, removable hose and fixtures to the 7 hanging plants on the deck... Stainless hardware etc. Not sure if the 50' of supplied hose will be enough to go around the deck and up all the 8' high posts... We'll see I guess.. Enjoy your afternoon everyone...............GRILLED shrimp and scallops with organic veggies on skewers for dinner tonight Photos for FF&M a possibility.. ...............Gary PS. The engine/trans swap sounds like a bit of a job.........computer goes with it too I would imagine.... Safe flight Mark...........I LOVED taking up friends for scenic trips around town etc..... I rather that then flying to get from point A to B....

  34. You and Your Brother have my best wishes. He may well need help and support with his addiction. Just letting him know that you are on his side in his recovery may help. I don't know how many times I've wished we were allowed to video patients, just so they could see the condition they were in when they were brought to the hospital. So many have no memory of the shape they were in.

  37. This is true. I switched, and the difference is clear. I take some issue with this. Using me as an example... I am 5' 10". I weigh 177. That's a BMI of 25.4. If I had a BMI of 20.1, I would weigh 140. When I got down to about 170 during my dieting, I was told by some that I was beginning to look scrawny. They were correct. My facial features were becoming sunken, etc. It looked kind of like I was drying up. I think my ideal weight is about 175 - 185. I regularly lift weights, do HIIT running/walking, and also, I play basketball on Saturdays. At 47, I am probably close to my peak fitness ever, and I was athletic in high school. Some people my height might look good at 140 pounds. I know people like that, and they look fine. But my build is different. It is athletic. It needs meat on the bones... a muscular butt and muscular legs, shoulders, etc. I think this feels healthy and strong. I could not see myself ever weighing 140. I'd look very, very sick at that weight, and I might even be very, very sick at a weight like that. I think people carry weight differently. I have an easy indicator. You should be able to see your ribs. A woman should have the two dimples above her butt clearly visible. Now there are times where I can see my ribs and my stomach is not where I like it (like right now) but these indicators do help.

  42. I may be wrong, but I think a lot of folks just want it to be their decision on whether to upgrade or not. They enjoy doing it themselves. I've gotten a lot of satisfaction out of cleaning up a pair of cabinets and updating the crossovers in older speakers. From my own experience, trying to pass on the cost of upgrades to the buyer has not worked out very well but I cannot blame a seller for trying to regroup some of that expense. There was a pair of walnut Fortes on a local craigslist for nearly two months at $700 that had been upgraded. The seller responded to a note I sent and said he wished he had not upgraded them which would have allowed him to sell them for around $500 or so. I have put as much in upgrades for my Quartets as I paid for the speakers and I realize that this will not be recovered should I ever decide to sell them but that is ok....they are keepers. That said, GLWTS. Those are nice speakers.

  43. That is a topic that will get this thread locked quicker than two shakes of a lambs tail. I'm against the the upscheduling. But I think it is important for people to know the facts behind how things change in government, whether it is at an agency or a legislative body. HCPs was a great topic, it is a public health ISSUE. Which by definition means it has, at least, two sides. I think it is important for people to understand how the process really works, whether it is getting a drug upscheduled, or anything else. It is good to be skeptical about anything that happens in government. Some things are changed in smoke filled back rooms with elected officials and lobbyists. This wasn't one of those. There were people lined up on two sides of that issue, representing their own interests, including patient advocacy groups. It is important that people understand the process, and that they have a say. It apparently started with one physician submitting a petition back in 1999. Regardless of what side of the issue we are in, it is important to know the facts behind how it happened and what the arguments were on both sides. It is only in that way that one can have any chance at changing the outcome the next go around. Medical Marijuana is another good public health, drug policy issue that is coming from the exact opposite angle. Getting a drug down scheduled, or eliminated, from scheduling, state by state. Travis

So for the fun of it I set up a 5.1 system in the living room using all rb51s. where I used to have the RF& set up. I have to say-not too shabby. I didn't expect it to suck, but wow, I thought it sounded pretty damn good! Of course I am using a pretty beastly Mirage BPS400 with them, but still pretty good for little guys.

  49. Wednesday July 1, 4:15am Went to wipe a little dust off my SVS SB13 Plus and something prompted me to press the DSP knob and no little indigo blue light display came on. Turned rocker switch off and then back on. Still no blue light. Unplugged and waited about 30 seconds and plugged back in to outlet. Still no blue light. Ran out of time before off to work so further diagnosing had to wait. Wednesday July 1, 3:30pm Played some music hoping the sub just needed a little voltage boost and still no blue light or sound. Wednesday July 1, 4:00pm Went to SVSound website and started online chat with Jeff. Described what sub was doing(nothing) and he had me try a reset. Nothing. Jeff then emailed me instructions how to do a "bump test" to rule out the woofer itself and preceded to do so. I unplugged +/- connections from amp and touched them to the +/- on a 9v battery. It bumped alright. Wednesday July 1, 4:30pm Chatted more with Jeff and he confirmed amp failure and said he needed me to email him my information and serial number of the SB13+. Wednesday July 1, 4:40pm I gave him my information including the serial number and also informed him that I was not the original owner but did buy it from the original owner in Jacksonville, Florida. Wednesday July 1, 4:45pm Jeff Selong emailed me right back informing me I would be getting an email with an RA# and said to look out for an email with a prepaid Fed Ex shipping label. Thursday July 2, 2:34pm Email with RA# arrived. Friday July 3, 9:34pm Email with shipping label arrived. Monday July 6, 9:30am Fed Ex picked up package to return to SVS Wednesday July 8, 11:30am Delivered to SVS in Girard, Ohio. Thursday July 9, 1:29pm New amp picked up at SVS by Fed Ex Tuesday July 14, 12:56pm Delivered new amp to my workplace. Tuesday July 14, 3:10pm SVS SB13 Plus has rejoined his stepbrother Revel B15, steptwins Klipsch RT-10d and RT-10d, in rocking out the house. Less than two week turnaround time. Total cost to Willland=============$00.00 Most of my correspondence was with Jeff Selong and he was incredible to deal with as well as the rest of the staff I dealt with. Besides building great subwoofers(and great speakers from what I hear), the customer service is second to none from my "limited" experience. Bill
