  1. Prayers made and will continue to remember you and your family in prayer. Hang tough brother--my brother always tells me “relax, you don’t need all the answers right now." Keep your faith -- you can do this and you’re not alone. Steve

  4. she says that all the time. in the last couple years she was really down on herself because she was 31, living with her parents (and her kids) when she 'should' be like the other single moms that are working and juggling 2 kids and school and rent and groceries, etc "i'm such a piece of sh*t" we would constantly tell her that "it takes a village" and just let it be'' "you are taking college courses for your future" nothing was good enough NOW - at least since january 8 - she says NOW I KNOW WHY ....if i had a job and a lease and lived far away, i would have quit my job, abandoned my lease and brought my kids to live with mom BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE I NEED TO BE. this was god's plan all along. she always called my mother 'mom' and i have always been 'mommy.' yup - 31 and still calling me 'mommy.' it works. life really is remarkable. never say never. my mother was always her favorite person in the world. they are so silly together - always have been. there is so much laughter in mom's house. it keeps mom's life stimulating, and laughter IS the best medicine. on my 50th birthday, she posted( n my facebook) an old pic of me holding her when she was first born. i will quote her words but will edit some of the 'color' out...and you have to read it phonetically...kids today (30 yrs old) This is me and u about 30 yrs ago, ur strength n love is what kept me in a stable loving home growing up, ur teaching me these things along w others such as bein stubborn, totally self sufficient when necessary and jus overall BEING A SURVIVOR NO MATTER WHAT is what kept me alive all the years I was gone.. today u r 50 FKIN YRS OLD n our family is all alive n healthy, crazy as ever n most importantly UNITED... We r truly blessed.. I know that Ricky watches over u w such pride, n ur parents r so proud, u r truly their success story bc much like me u were the bad one, but as we know THE BAD ONES R THE MOST LOYAL N DEPENDABLE... I love u mommy, my kids n I r so lucky to have u... yup...when this girl puts her mind to it, she can move mountains. and we all live one day at a time. she has the strength of my mother. and the mouth of a sailor (or mechanic...or his wife...)

  7. Ok - I shouldn't hijack your thread Tar - please bear with me. This fits this thread because we drank coffee on a regular basis... We were flown in, this is the riverbar before the hike up. Coffee was great! Very cowboy. After the hike above the tree line - the view was highly acceptable imho. (Sorry - had to really compress this one to get it to fit.) Set up our base camp in a little bowl above the tree line. We got fogged and snowed in on day two. We had two of these set up (four of us total). And a view from the plane on the way out.

  11. Happy Friday, all. Just checking in and catching up. Dave .. love the Alaska pics and stories. The only personal experience I've had was a cruise in the mid-90's on the inside passage and that gave me a big desire to come back and see more. Still have the pics of a humpback whale breaching, sea otters, glacier bay, etc.but there's so much more. MKP and Boss ....thanks for the follow-ups on your great story. Cheers folks.

  14. I don't know if this is your first child or not, but know that in all likelihood, many of the forum members have had children that may not have turned out as we initially hoped. But, they are our kids, and we love them regardless. Personally, after having a wonderful, easy-to-raise daughter, we had a son that has been more of a challenge. We work through it. There is a child in my daughter's class that was born with severe cerebral palsy. The child can't walk or talk, but is very smart and funny. With the help of a computer "talker," the child can communicate, and even tells jokes. It wasn't in the parents' plans, but they have made accommodations, and also have a younger "normal" child now. My point is that the strength to work through it will come to you. Medical technology will likely help with some areas. Your son will likely amaze you with what he can do; never having forearms in the first place, he will more easily learn how to live without them, unlike the rest of us who would have to learn everything all over again if we lost our arms. Thoughts and prayers go out to you.

  15. Dave, I don't know if you knew this, but I am a Cardiac Nurse. I was in Electrical Engineering until I dropped out when I got married. Mom gave my wife and I a 19 day trip to your state when I graduated nursing school and it made my 50th state It was a very beautiful trip, and a whole different world all together up there First Round is on me if you can possibly make it to hope. 18. Our physical vessels are only a very temporary home in which our soul resides. The soul you and your wife will bring into being is all that truly matters. The world can be cruel, and likely your son will have to face it, especially in his younger years. Give him strength. Embrace his earthly manifestation; ignore the expectations of others and recognize the gift that he surely is. Love really is all we need. Congratulations on a very lovely little boy.

  24. Very nice pictures Dave, Hunting a Moose would be great, if it were standing on the side of the freezer and as it fell it would clean itself. Well it looks like I am out of the moose hunting business, probably better off anyway.

  25. We used to sell our stuff in the sections we hang out at. Pieces were usually listed below the going price on AudiogoN. The idea was to give those here a first crack before being listed elsewhere. Sellers were honest and there was always full disclosure. Potential buyers might ask a few questions and that was usually it. There wasn't much in the way of haggling because sellers did their homework before listing the item. The peanut gallery was typically supportive and helpful. On rare occasion - we might have to bring someone back to reality. So, the idea was to offer a good deal and make someone happy - not price gouge and incite a riot. If you don't want to offer a good deal, just take it to eBay. No one should be commenting unless it's an obvious attempt at ripping someone off or some unrealistic price placed out of ignorance. Newer members should be expected to be protected by the old guard - and established members really need to show some tact. If you think an established member is out of line, send a PM - like Roger did with me when I was trying to unload my drivers. Some of the stuff going on out there is absurd.

  31. Thank you for the responses and prayers. I cannot express what it means that those that have only known me through this forum are taking time to think about or write something to my family. My wife and I have no concerns about how much we will love our son. The difficulty comes in imagining the frustrations he may face. This is our first child, so everything will be new. I am confident he will amaze us and things will be as they should, but it is certainly scary. I'm not one for expressing personal matters in pretty much any setting, but I am thankful I did here. My sincerest gratitude to everyone responding or just reading. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  35. The bugs are almost a non issue that late in the year - in spring/early summer they'll make you lose your religion. Longest shot for moose I've seen is probably 300-350 yds. Not a photographer, but an enthusiast and those were all with a phone. We live in an incredible state that I tell everyone they should add a visit to their bucket list.

  36. Gents, I have, at considerable annoyance, gone through and hidden every post irrelevant to the selling or buying of these subs. The OP has taken more crap than anyone ever should, and I want it to stop, now. Post if you want to buy or ask a question. As mentioned, Garage Sale is a COURTEOUS place for forum members to buy or sell. If you have a beef, take it to PM. The fact that your post was hidden means nothing except that it was not relevant to etc6849s post offering his gear. Nonetheless, the behavior in this thread is very disturbing, especially from some of you I've known for a while. TOS doesn't require you to like everybody, but there is something of an expectation of respect. Dave

  37. I'll see if I can post some when I get home. I own a 300 win mag, .30-06 is perfectly fine too. Some roam the woods, brush. We hike up above the tree line an look down on them. It's pretty cool because the moose are all eaten and it's not just kill something to pose with the carcass. Some up here make an all out event of it and load four wheelers to the nines and haul everything out there for a luxury hunt, beer, radio etc. My father in law is a little more old school and well - I need to hit the gym before I get out there. My father in law looks like a tall Sam Elliott type who, no lie, packed a paraplegic over a mountain ridge after he missed a shot at a sheep years ago. After shooting and missing, the man said "well that was my chance I guess" as the sheep walked over the mountain. My father in law said "maybe not" and took him (witnessed) some 600-700 yds farther over a ridge on his back to get another look and the eventual successful shot. They had ridden horses to that point and my father in law and another man went after and packed out the sheep after his paraplegic friend shot it. I'm a desk jockey, I just try to keep up.

  38. Grizzog, Congratulations on your upcoming child! I'm sorry to see that you had an unexpected result on an ultrasound and I know first-hand how terrible that can feel. I will be praying for and with you that later tests yield different results and that the child continues to grow and develop normally. In the interim, I would encourage you to not focus on the potential difficulties you may have in raising the child and difficulties that the child may have in the future. As things stand right now, you have a child coming and that is a great blessing in itself. If we spend our lives in constant worry about what may be, we simply heap misery on ourselves. While it is possible that some negatives may come out of your child's possible condition, it is also extremely likely that many wonderful positives will come out of this child's life. You have asked for prayer, I also want to offer some Scripture to aid in your comfort. “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:25-34 ESV) It is my earnest prayer that these words give you peace and rest as you await the birth of your child!

  45. I thought you were being sarcastic because I and most everybody else actually love the effects on Transformers 4, they put a lot of effort into it. For LFE and surround effects it is one of my favorites of all time. Multiple voices sound awful to me though. Marky Mark even sounds bad to me. I don't get how such a huge blockbuster with tons of big names behind it could get smoked in this department by Mad Max. I keep thinking there is something wrong with the setup, speakers, decoding, or something. Maybe it is just a crap mix though.not being sarcastic at all. I tolerate it cause it can't be changed. But it sucks period. I could prolly pick 20 movies out of my collection that the voices are just awful in them. Hulk is one of them. Hulk has some insane demo material. But some of it it absolutely horrible to listen to at the same time
