I needed speaker stands customized according to my listening area and fitted exactly for my speakers. Since I cannot find anything near to required measures at the stores I decided to do the stands myself. My speakers are in the bedroom so I had to overcome the height of the bed and adjust the height of the speaker to my height of view. Therefore the stand height is 32 inches. I took approach similar to the Skyline speaker stands, two plates made of wood tied together with iron rods and put on the spikes. For wooden plates I took two thickest Ikea meat cutting boards I could find, glued together in three layers of bamboo wood. Upper plate is cut to the dimensions of the base of the speaker. Threaded iron rods are fitted into 3 inches PVC pipes that are at the end of the assembly filled with quartz sand but not completely. Spikes are made of hardened steel. The seats for spikes are chiseled into the bottom side of the wooden plates. Since I made these during the winter when temperatures are low and I could not wait for paint on the PVC pipes to dry (the legs of speaker stands), I finished them with self-adhesive foil in grey color. Not as good as paint but I can do that later. At the end the speakers are put on vibrapods.

Now that would be different. Sour cream ? I don't drink coffee of any type but the wife went through the Colcafe like Sherman through Georgia. It kept her from daily morning visits to Starbucks. Previously I would buy her Juan Valdez Columbian coffee and she prefers the Colcafe. As to the Mexican sour cream; it is made with a different bacillus then the usual store bought sour cream, tastes much, much better and is unobtainium in my northern world.

If I button up an engine late in the day I have to start it before going to bed or I will lay awake all night wondering if I tightened/torqued everything. Drives me crazy thinking about it. Sure is a great relief to hear the darn thing run right too!

Not that you don't know what your doing but make it sound like there was no doubt, no reason whatsoever for it not to be fine. ....................you would never make it in the used car business,..... which is a good thing. I strongly suggest you make a warranty claim to Klipsch (or whomever you bought them from). It is quite possible they will arrange to have the two shipped back to you and replaced. This is because the veneer of a pair are matched and they can't replace just one and keep the match. WMcD

I was just kidding, there is so much that can go wrong I don't blame you, I'm happy when these things start and run on a normal day. I use to play with cars for fun but now I'm just happy when they get me where were going and back, I'm over it. You do have to admit with all these parts moving and needing to work together it's pretty amazing they run and are as reliable as they are.

Ya know I have truly forgotten how many engine rebuilds and overhauls I have done in the last 30 years..... But I would be a liar if I said.......right before I turn that key to start it I didn't have some thoughts running in my head.....Like.... did I torque that.... did I do this...and I kinds of stuff ..... But the Pilot started up in less than 7 seconds of cranking....and I had oil pressure in less that 2 seconds of it running..... and it did not miss a beat It sounded good.... valves are quite.... nothing leaking out of it...(that's a good thing )..... It just felt right... I got it operating temp and just drove it outside.... I'll button it all up later in the week. The BOSS got in it while it was on the lift running and said "yea I can do a Honda Pilot" The craziest build I did for a Honda was years ago... This young guy came to shop with a 99 Civic Si.... it had a burnt valve in one of the cylinders. He already had a turbo on it... He told me he wanted it fixed and wanted to run 20lbs of boost ....... My next words to him was something like this.......If you are not looking to spend at least $10k on just the engine I won't even start thing about this build for you! he said he's got the money and wants it done...... So me and this young man sat down a got a plan to build this engine. I got alot of help from Z-10 racing these guys build crazy boosted Honda engines. They do some wild block sleeving with AEBS sleevs... I won't bore you with all the ..... but this thing was put together right. Now the kid had the money for the engine but not the up-graded turbo he wanted. So the plan was I'll build the engine and later we can put the big turbo on it. Cool... Well the day came that I was going to start this engine..... all the work of building this thing....plasti gauging bearings..... filing piston ring gap... adjusting valves.... just making sure I dotted my "i's" and crossed my "t's"......... man I was shitting razor blades..... Finally I said to my self....." just do it!!...... My heart was pounding...I turned that key and it fired right up.... sounding good...... took it out for a test drive to break it in..... yea it was good..... Now it wasn't that fast cuz the engine was built with lower compression pistons for a big turbo..... I was really looking forward for this guy to come back to the shop with his turbo kit...... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh the "A"-hole ended up selling the car about 6 months later.......what a tool...... so I never got to see how fast this Civic was .. But hey I got my Money Later.... MKP :-)

You can do it but it would be best if you flipped them on their sides if possible. You don't want to run three horizontal centers. Would be best to not pick a horn that has severely limited vertical dispersion if you did that though. Several speakers from several brands can be ran horizontally or vertically.

Remove the other speaker's terminal cap (carefully as the crossover will be connected to it) and use that as the schematic But if it came from an authorized dealer I would have it replaced.

I would completely call Klipsch and order a new terminal cup. It looks like somebody glued it back once and that didn't hold. I bet they don't really cost all that much if you don't have a warranty. You should have no problem soldering the wires back where they go. Just crack open the other speaker and see.

These are cheap plugs that I use and like. They don't get loose and make a secure connect. Price $ 6-7 for four. Although they are not need, it sure makes life a bit easier and looks a little more classy.

Using the bunn filters and a blade grinder is good enough for me at this time. I'm not experiencing any bitterness, etc. p.s. I don't have a need for a Dixie chopper at this time either. I might if I ever build on the lake though.

anyone know about this...... I asked bob crites if i bought his 3636 autoformer for my forte ii's, if i could use a lower tap for the mid range to knock it down some in effect bringing the low end up in relation to the mids. He said if you lower the tap you would have to change the cap values. It seems to me looking at the schematic that the autoformer is the last thing before the skwaker so my thought was that you are only lowering the signal delivered to the driver and not changing the frequency content going to that driver right? I understand that this changes the relationship between the drivers and thus the changes how the speaker sounds but that is the point...to have less mids and consequently more low freq. ANyone tried this or have knowledge that confirms what bob said that you have to change the values of caps used in the crossover? here is bob's response Bass is the fundamental thing to measure when you build a speaker with a certain woofer and certain porting (or passive radiator in the case of the Forte II). The amount with these is not really changeable. What the crossover does is balance the midrange and tweeter to have equal output in their frequency ranges as the woofer does in it’s frequency range. So, you could give yourself more "apparent” bass by cutting back the output of the midrange and tweeter. Now doing that would take a new crossover design. You can’t just attenuate the midrange more with a different autotransformer without changing other parts to compensate and keep the crossover frequencies right. My suggestion would be to just change the crossovers capacitors to get the crossovers back into spec, and change the tweeter diaphragms to the titanium and then see if the speakers perform like you want. With the cheap worn out caps in there now, you have never heard the speaker perform like it is meant to perform.
