  1. Well the journey begins again These are some early pictures of my new dedicated Jub room (ie: former garage). It will take a while to test and optimize and complete the room but it has finally begun...!!! It appears the Zebra Chair will be my main listening chair after trying the Copper Leather chair first. Experimenting with the Jub position optimization and how best to implement and optimize the acoustical treatment in this room are still to be determined. miketn

  4. Just going to say wow. 1. ROLLING STONES SINGER TO BECOME DAD FOR 8TH TIME Mick Jagger's representatives say the rock legend is expecting his eighth child. The representatives confirmed a report by People magazine and other media outlets that Jagger's girlfriend, Melanie Hamrick, 29, is pregnant. Jagger, the 72-year-old front man of the Rolling Stones, already has seven children — Georgia, James, Jade, Elizabeth, Lucas, Karis and Gabriel — who range in age from 45 to 17. W magazine, which reports on fashion and celebrities, says Hamrick is a ballerina who has performed with the American Ballet Theatre in New York. In May, fellow Rolling Stone Ron Wood became a father again at 68 after his wife, Sally Humphreys, gave birth to twin girls.

  12. Funny how some vehicles come and go, start with a crap product and are soon gone or start with a crap product, Hyundai, stay the course and now build some competitive products. My BiL worked at a Hyundai dealership when they were first introduced and he told nothing but horror stories on their initial build quality. Looks like they got it figured out unlike our Yugo friends.

  17. The ones I dream about 69' Dodge Charger or some other Mopar muscle car from that time. 79'-83' Olds Cutlass with T-tops, as I had two similar cars and figured these years are the ones I would shoot for. Just about any Porsche 944.

  18. When I hit the lottery this Saturday for a third of a billion dollars, this is what I'll get; 2015 Honda Accord. I know some of you will rightfully point out that even though the Powerball is listed at $333 million, the payout is only $237 million. that's why I don't want buy new when I could save a few bucks on used. It would just worry me to death driving a high-end sports car that would call attention to myself and my family. It gives me nightmares to think of some dipstick pulling me out of the car and shooting me just because he wants my wheels. It's not worth the worry. I'd rather get something blase and used, then have it dressed up with a nice sound system, sound proofing and a nice plush suspension package. And I even like the color.

  25. Dunno but after looking into it further, it seems that this does not use the same series mode technology found in other more common SurgeX units. They try to market it for displays but if you do some digging it's actually MOV based, along with a gas tube. The language seems to be purposely confusing. "Series combination of varistors" is MOV's, not series mode. Apparently it's something that ESP came up with and isn't the old school technology that came from ZeroSurge back in the late 80's.

  28. Haven't been studying EV speakers lately but sure you can find more online. From my point of view, if you are interested in an old timey mono setup, it may fit the bill otherwise, just like my EV single Aristocrat, if I want stereo, I am stuck looking for another like it. If I were bidding on this sale, I would look to see what speakers are and if they are original to the cabinet and, would probably spend no more than the speaker parts are worth. E-bay is not always a good indicator of what speaker parts are actually worth. They tend to be a bit overpriced I think I have found, If close enough and interested I would go give a listen. Will be interested to see if James chime in as, thinking he has some knowledge about EV's. Have a good day meanwhile!

  30. Make sure it has working window defrosters, that way if it breaks down in the winter you have hand warms to push it ( I know you live in Texas so this may not be as important). I believe the Leatherman was designed based off of Tim Leatherman's Yugo always breaking down and he always need tools to fix it, but turns out it was Fiat.

  31. Good call. I just find it annoying when companies utilize things like forums which are pretty much manned by people who buy their products but the companies do things like remove resources like the "discontinued products" information. It can be construed that the company: 1. doesn't respect the free resource they get for their users/purchasers 2. doesn't want to help the used market because they feel the used market impacts new unit sales 3. doesn't realize that the user base / forum members help sell their products, old and new and they don't have to pay their salary, just take to heart what their users want 4. the more people that know the Klipsch name, like Bose, will help to sell more new speakers unless the new speakers are not as good as the old I am not really mad about it. Klipsch can do what they want with their discontinued products page as they own the site but it does show a lack of respect for the needs of the users here and the essence of what this forum is all about. I would think Klipsch, with their heritage, would do better. This might play into why someone can read e-How and come to the conclusion Klipsch is out of business, word of mouth....

  33. +1 for separation... they might be great together, but they are most certainly more financially palatable separately. One more for hyperbole coloring the sale... like the sound from a great amplifier, you don't want any coloration.

  35. Try selling them on AudioGoN. Just say you have to sell because your financial situation has changed. Keep the ad simple. Mention parts and features, and say it's the best you've personally heard. You should probably sell them separately, but mention that the matching piece is also for sale in a separate ad. Refrain from the hype, it actually sets off the BS alarm meter - as this thread aptly demonstrates.

I bet 30 watts into a pair of La Scalas would have the whole neighborhood rocking.Right now I' m listening to Rush hemisphere's with about 4 watts and it ridiculous. I use pump them when I had 100 watt amp . my neighbor heard them from 6 houses away. But across the street from me.And that was @ halfway!

  39. Growing up i wasnt a big fan. Mainly do to all the hype. However after high school in the early 2000s, i found myself enjoying their unplugged album. After watching soaked in bleach and hear Kurt speak of wanting to be more of a folk singer. I wish he would have lived on to do so. As i really enjoy the folky like songs off of the unplug album.
