Reading instructions from Amazon products is one thing, try understanding Britts when it comes to Tech talk This morning waking up to Simon's email, explaining how to fix my last two errant entry's, finely it works well Back to the 5th wheel work, time for vent(s), Powered this time, i should take pic's of these disasters. 5. After the fun of Billiards wears off, you can fold your laundry on the table like we did growing up.

  6. Tarheel, hope you inherited a cue rack and a ball rack and some chalk and powder and some cuesticks. A canister vac with a soft brush will help out of course. Pool hall I frequented used a brush similar to and old school hand held shoe brush. Bristle extends out a touch to brush under rail. Sounds like you made out nice with the service call. Good Shooting...

  8. Hey guys ...about caught up now. Good day on Sunday ...celebrated the day with Better Half Unit, some of the kids and granddaughter. We grew some mini pumpkins and let the 3 yr old pick her very own. Followed up with pork steaks grilled over pecan wood and charcoal. Chuck ...sounds like a successful pool table project. Those older tables sometimes gain character over time. And ...you know how the saying goes ...there's no pool like an old pool. Gonna start getting ready for our annual fall trek to Taos, NM later this week. Always beautiful and fun. Eventual goal is to move there and get away from the big metro area. Have a good day everyone and cheers .............

  10. I watched a little guy take out a huge body builder type one night in a pool hall. After being threatened by the big guy, the little fella grabbed a pool ball and held it in his hand for a full roundhouse hit to the temple of the big fella. Knocked him out with one swing. You know that was a Belgian ball! Fight over with a single blow.

  11. I'm sure the Belgians are happy to hear this.

  12. Aramith ball(s)? You know the Belgians have the best balls?! My 50 yo Aramiths have well, insured 50 years of abuse and still roll true and look pretty darn good.

  15. I just purchased the Emotiva XPA Gen3 5 channel amp. It's awesome how you can add extra channels later on if you need them. Can't wait to try it!

  16. Good going Chuck, mission complete and now you know how much the table cost new (or back in the day when new)

  17. Table is now level. A guy, his wife, his son, and son's girlfriend all showed up. Took the slipping sliders out from under the feet, cut shims, and picked up the table from under the frame (not the top) while his crew placed the shims under each foot. Said the cue ball had some flat spots and should be replaced. Also said to vacuum the table to eliminate loose fibers, chalk dust, and debris. It now rolls fine but the pockets are no longer as forgiving so you have to be on target. I vacuumed the table and I'll replace the cue ball tomorrow. A hundred bucks later I have a fine table. I asked him what the Brunswick Contender sold for new and he said around $3500.....it came with the house though

  18. Does the Klipsch bug ever subside? It seems the addiction is strong. I came across a new-to-me set of fortes that I couldn't pass up. They are damn near mint and came with the original boxes. So now an A/B test had to be done vs my RF-7II. I'll be posting my full review soon, but in the short time I've listened I understand why many people say the fortes are the most balanced Klipsch. They are fantastic. Now I also have the issue of needing to sell one set...or figure out how to keep them both. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. After several months I finally finished these crossovers for my Forte model 1. I was able it pickup a pair Northcreek inductors used. It saved me a bunch of cash also I was able to get a great deal on the Duelund caps from HIFI Collective, the Mundorf caps from ebay, and the binding post from Partsxpress. The autotransformers from Bob's site and the wire is Tara Labs Prime that I already had. I build the bases from MDF and use some hardwood I had laying around to hold the binding post. I have had them up and running for a few hours now right off the bat I noticed the low end was a lot tighter and the mids where much smother and not as forward I will do some more listening in the next few days but my initial impression is very good. Thanks for looking Dave

  20. Chorus II and LaScala are very different animals, you will not be needing a high powered amplifier with LaScala's to drive you out of the room hence my recommendation for the NAD.

  21. One of these: A couple of months ago the cartridge sled on my 40 year old Dual 1245 spontaneously disemboweled itself leaving me unable to spin vinyl. At the time replacing it was pretty much at the bottom of my priority list for financial reasons. Things are a bit better now money wise so I sprung for a new sled. Since the table came with a glued to the sled Shure V15 reusing it wasn't an option. I picked up the Audio Technica AT120E/b. Many of the online reviews stated that the cartridge needed 100 hours of break in before it sounded it's best. I don't know... I'm liking what I hear right out of the box. So far I have about 4 hours on it and it's sounding good to me. Maybe the best is yet to come.

  24. This made me blush. Not that it matters, but since someone asked.. My job, the care and feeding of my wife who came home full time to be the house manager and focus on our girls, and the inherent demands of raising a 2yr and 4yr old definitely have ramped up over the last year and I don't have consistent time available to be an effective moderator. Then there's my charming personality, uncanny ability to stir the pot, the controversial rise to power, and preferred style of heavy handed moderating. It made me a lightning rod of critique and frustration that was of no service to the moderating team as a whole, conflicted with my aforementioned life priorities, and eventually made me want to come around here less and less. I thought about blowing off the Pilgrimage entirely, but Carl coaxed me along. It was a good shot in the arm and I've slowly reintegrated myself into the forum, gotten a few warning points, and once again feel comfortable being the snarky ******* I was meant to be, without it reflecting poorly on the moderating team.

  27. a little 12" Karlson has in its range, huge dynamics - for the K12 size, avoid the distributed slit port, use a port ~3" wide by 4" tall.- Make a K-tube 5.3" long of 1" tubing, print a half - ellipse pattern with 1/8" starting gap. Tape that to the pipe, mark and cut with a Dremel. Use Dayton's D250p compression driver. Weak motors in Karlson are not good things. A 12" woofer should have at least 80 ounces of ferrite slug.- Kappa12a would be good.

  32. In all respect, where do we draw the line on this? One of my tweeters went out on my KG 5.5's and the forum members pointed me to Crites for their Ti replacements which is technically an upgrade but that was the only reputable vendor I knew to go to. Same thing with my LaScalas that had aftermarket crossovers and had new tweeters before I purchased them. Are we only talking about commercial vendors here or any display of tweaked or customized speakers such as time aligning LaScalas, the 'Cornscala', going with active crossovers or even people building their own heritage speakers? I think if Klipsch is going to set stricter rules on this they need to be clear on 'authorized' vendors etc. I generally see two types of Klipsch customers. The first is the guy with disposable income who walks into Best Buy and sees cool looking speakers with copper woofers and gets sold a lot of fluff from a rookie sales guy and walks out with the set with little knowledge of what he just bought. The reality is that these people are what keep the company going as a modern speaker manufacturer. If anything, Klispch should be more concerned about what some of these uninformed sales reps are saying, particularity with regards to garbage I have heard about amp wattage requirements. I was a member of this group before coming here and gaining a wealth of knowledge from the older members, including those with aftermarket products. The second type is the 'core' group of Klipsch fanatics that frequent the forums. They have an appreciation for the Reference stuff but are more interested in the history and legacy of the company and their passion has created a small cottage industry, particularly for the older heritage line. Aside from those with the wealth to buy the newest top end models, most of this group does not contribute much to Klipsch's bottom line directly. However, they know more about Klipsch than an entire sales team at every Best Buy in a state combined and will most likely recommend Klipsch to every co-worker, neighbor and friend that is looking for a stereo or HT rig and are in essence brand ambassadors. If a forum member's buddy came over and listened to some hot-rodded LaScalas and is blown away, he is not going to think, "Well, those arent true Klispch that brand must be bad" he is going to think Klispch is awesome and go to Best Buy with the forum member and pick out some modern speakers that his wife will allow in the home. My concern is that by clamping too far down, Klispch will alienate these people away from the forum and possibly the brand itself which is counter to what is good for Klipsch in the long run. There is already a massive generation gap in mid/high level audio creating an industry crisis and we really need these knowledgeable people here to inspire younger music lovers to care about audio quality enough to buy Klipsch over Bose crap. Especially all the college kids with money that go to the club every weekend riding the EDM craze and listen to horn loaded Funktion One speakers and want a similar sound at home but dont know where to look not knowing that Klipsch is waiting to fill that exact need as compression drivers have the dynamics to bring the best out of modern Trance, Dubstep and House music which is 99% of what young people listen to. Anyway, that is just my .02.

  35. Attention Forum Members! John Simmons was arrested in 1977 for wearing the original BS t-shirt. He is “down on his luck” these days, and would like to have one of the shirts again (I think the cops kept his!). Klipsch plans to do a human interest story on him soon, so there will be more to come. I know they’re collectible, but if anyone would like to donate an original XL shirt in good condition, please respond to this post. Your name will be included in the story. If an original is not forthcoming, I know that Valerie Klipsch put out a reproduction that would suffice. Christy

  45. Lastly, I wanted to keep the amplifier powersupply and all NEAR the antenna, so, I used a food container and mounted it under the deck, fed in the AC etc. and it should stay protected/vented and dry.. Just need to spray all the connectors with PURE silicone to keep the moisture out... There you have it, a two day vacation project that works ...thanks for reading - viewing... .......Gary

  46. Thanks Billy...... So far, only two days into the BIG changes, we are happy I was a Direct TV subscriber all the way back in 1996 (one of the early accounts)! Left them a few years ago because the internet (DSL) was SO poor, they could not even provide the fiber optic option to my area and NO plans to do so... We were only getting 1.7 mbps at best, could not stream ANYTHING. I called them and said we could not stay with their services any longer because of it. This home had Comcast, and when we moved in, we used the cables for DTV. Then, some years later, I decided to try Xfinity standard with very fast broadband until all the deals expired and the prices went skyhigh.. SO, yesterday, I made that call, packed up their receivers to send back, and we are using the cable for internet only... Speed is an incredible 175mbps. with cat 5 .. I may reduce that to 75mbps. offering because it would MORE then cover any thing we use and save another $30 in the process... Ok, photos of the antenna install coming up...

  47. Good afternoon my friends.................went into work today, a half day only, now finishing up back home with the last day of my vacation....so, the weekend begins for this daily worker bee ... Mark, I am sorry to hear the GPS was non funtional.... I have one of the upscale Garmins, comes with lifetime map upgrading, traffic ahead system with detour features. Also you can plug into your truck's OBDII and get all your engine functions to come up on the display........oil, coolant, trans temps, stuff like that. It has been in use for about 4 years now and problem free and loving it... If you were not going to go with the indash, I would highly recommend the latest version of my model... OK, my OTA antenna project is finishing up today and I have photos to share................Comcast TV cable has been discontinued for internet only, new Netflix 4K account started, we are good to go and saving $$$ now....
