  2. Man I am so sorry, Chuck. That is the toughest decision to make. Selfishly you want to keep them around as long as you can but you know what is best for them. Rough days ahead, I'll be thinking of you and Jake. All the best. RIP Jake

  7. That was the most amazing 3:01 of any game I've ever seen. The Vikings have a shot of becoming the first team ever to play a SB in their own stadium. ANYBODY.....but the Patriots.

  9. I figure there must be a few gear heads around here. What do you have? What are you working on? I picked up a '95 Cobra 302 for my '93 Mustang the other day. It hasn't moved in about two years, but that should change very soon.

  10. With your system, unless you are planning on getting a flagship AVR, which still have their limitations, quality outboard amplification will extract the most from your RF-7 rig. Effortless headroom. For now until you find what you want, use your Yamaha 673, but as mentioned be careful with the volume knob. Bill

  12. You sound like you are well on your way, and your idea about a location to demo makes sense. Starbucks would be good because of its focus on music. As you know, Starbucks is from Seattle where I am. I know a number of their attorneys mostly in the real estate end. In fact, I represent one in the past and am representing another now. If you chose Starbucks and got into something formal with them, I might be able to help. I would encourage you to look for money of some kind if you ramp up. Don't go spending it, but have it or have access to it. A short break in the customer stream can whack you. I also would really encourage you to speak up when you have questions or difficulties. I know that there are at least three attorneys here, and the other two that I have met strike me highly competent people. Most attorneys are used to offering free help. It is just part of being an attorney. I suspect that a deal with Klipsch will be harder under new management. What about people like Crites? I don't know anything about him, so it is just a name, but you might widen your net. I have to tell you that this is very exciting. I would love to see what you came up with.

  17. You would not believe how common this statement is. And how dead wrong. On snow and ice is where you would want AV the most. People say the same thing about trucks, and it is just as wrong there. No matter who you are, you cannot beat an AV.

  18. I have you beat mine are in a 12x12 room! Depending on how far your listening position is will determine if raising them will hurt the soundstage...I would think not but YMMV. I also don't think that removing the bracket will hurt as the 510 has a pretty wide"throw" pattern. If you decide to install grills on the front I have a contact that makes them. I put a set on mine and it dressed them up some.

  20. In his defense, if there is any, he was more worried about pass interference than just timing it right and making a play. He took the other CB out of the play also. Bill

  21. One of the tradeoffs in high end loudspeaker design is direct radiating vs. horn loading. I think a lot of folks don't understand this...including most "high end" loudspeaker designers as it turns out. With horns you can use much less expensive drivers and/or many fewer "ways" and drivers, especially "Synergy style" multiple-entry-horn (MEH) configurations. MEHs also effectively eliminate the polar coverage mismatches at the crossover interference bands. MEHs facilitate the achievement of point source performance without having to use coaxial full-range drivers or otherwise very expensive midrange and woofer drivers in addition to tweeters. And they have dynamics and controlled coverage that direct radiators cannot achieve because of better loading of the drivers and fewer demands on their polar coverage characteristics vs. frequency. Full-range MEH clarity and detail is unsurpassed. Horn-loading is also quite straightforward to dial in using a good DSP crossover because of the advantages enumerated above. Done well, they also will take up less volume in-room than their direct radiating alternatives. Just look at the size of all of the "high end" direct radiating loudspeakers--they're not small. Horn loading can also benefit by room corner loading--something that you don't see with direct radiating loudspeakers because of their difficulties achieving constant coverage polars vs. frequency. Only a minimal amount of acoustic treatments are necessary for corner loading of horns, i.e., a single column of 2'x2'x1" acoustic absorption pads at mouth exits on adjacent walls, thus freeing up a large amount of room real estate that large direct-radiators must use to sound good in room. 22. If he let the receiver catch it and tackled him in bounds the game was over, no time left on clock. If he at least kept him from catching it and was called for interference, they would get a shot a kicking a FG. Either way, a big mistake from the defense.

  23. Check out the MC 7205 around $2K used and the MC 7106 which is is the overlooked real bargain in the $1.5 K range and boasts an extra channel which lets it double as an active setup for two 3-way speakers in stereo only. Both have stellar THD numbers @ .005%, 93db 1/watt SNR number 113db at max rating. Very, very quiet noise floor, sound is extremely transparent and unit will never lose value. Mc. quality at a budget price.

  25. @jjptkd I really don't want to have to be the one to tell you this, but you have a speaker problem. I mean, I know this may be news to you, but there are only so many speakers you can listen to at a time, and no matter how big your east side house may be, there are only so many places you can listen to them. No matter what people here may say, speakers in your garage do not count, even if they are connected to some Byzantine definition of an amp or receiver. You need to check in with speakersannonymous.org post haste. Now, as a gesture of my friendship, and at great personal expense, I am willing to to give you the outlandish sum of $50 for one of your pairs of Chorus speakers purely and solely for the purpose of setting you on the path to recovery. I would offer more, but it would only encourage your disease.

  26. Im listening to my pt-100 right now with the audio technica m40s and the loki for eq. Using the emotiva etc-3 cd/transport and Ozzy is sounding so fine on the randy rhoads tribute cd. My ears are not that great and maybe thats a plus. Still loving the schiit loki also. The pt-100 is very usefull. Ive been using bluetooth for spotify but getting a optical cable for the pc. Use coax or cd input for cd player. I listen to fm a lot also and I think is a real plus. Remote was tough to learn but now its very easy to get around on and I love it. Peace!

  32. The saints now have their version of the immaculate reception. For the raiders, Madden said to just bat the ball down, but Tatum had to deliver the hit, as was his nature. The saints just had to tackle the receiver in bounds, game over. Instead he goes in for a hit not even looking, missed the receiver completely, and loses the game. I think the saints play was even more unforgivable than Tate, at least Tatum delivered a hit. The saints lost it flat out, just as the falcons collapsed in the most spectacular way last February.

  35. The fundamental frequency of low E on a bass guitar is 40hz. For the contra bassoon and harp it is 29hz. Even when full range speakers are rated at 30hz, there is something about a good subwoofer (mine is a ENTEC SW-1) that adds impact and air that most full range speakers just cannot reproduce. I have Klipsch Forte I with Crites crossovers and tweeter diaphragms. They have great bass; but even they need my ENTEC SW-1 as far as I am concerned.

  36. My thoughts are with you my friend. When I was 8 my Shepherd followed me everywhere. Took me to the school bus and awaited my return. Sat at my feet while I fished and chased wolves and coyotes to me while I was on horseback. Yes, I shot them to protect the cattle. At some point he was hit by a car and paralyzed in his hind legs although he continued to drag himself everywhere I went. That was so sad but I didn't want it to end. My grandfather took my dog out of his misery with a gun and I have never gotten over that moment. Our love continues as does your's with Jake; they know that and grins at you (and me) from above.

  37. Here is a reference to that concert. Scroll down on the page until you find the poster advertising it. Notice the price of the tickets. Quite different from today. I didn't remember all those performers being there but I certainly remembered Buddy and watching the girls discover their sexuality as they stood right at the stage. Fun times!! http://www.hillmanweb.com/rock/rr01a.html

I know there are so many animals that are not treated well and all we can do is to know how much love we gave them and how much we got in return. RIP Jake!!!

  40. tell her the simple truth; that this is a process of finding that one special speaker that you want to spend the rest of your life with so you can be satisfied and never have to buy another set again. Remind her of the importance of finding that special one just like you found her. That ought to hold her until you buy your next set.

  41. Again, they go from 90 Hz to 6K. If that range satisfies your needs than you are golden. If you also subscribe to the notion of "single point" stereo you will even be happier. I enjoyed listening to them, it was a unique and memorable experience. Just like I enjoy listening to old 78s on hand crank phonographs with steel needles. It is nostalgic and shows how far we have come. Hi Fidelity or Wi-Fi is a term used by Home listeners. It is indeed a relative term, that is why PWK continually upgraded and updated all of his products including the Khorn. When you said it was the first hi fi speaker I thought you were inferring that it was used in home and purchased for that purpose when made. I don't think people got the idea to stick them in their homes until maybe the 60s or 70s, when they were being torn out of theaters. ADD, if you have a great piece of music that is between about 100 Hz and 5K, and you don't care about stereo image, they sound incredible. Travis

  42. You are welcome. It is a good video explaining in fairly simple terms the difference between balanced and unbalanced connections. I was speaking of the .0002 difference in THD, is imperceptible. If say a person has a hum or noise problem from a wad of cables crossed up every which way or a long mic cable, balanced interconnects will make a distinguishable difference, and yes may possibly provide better specs you could only observe under laboratory conditions. Oh, and high dollar fancy cables are a rip, buy some decent cable in the 10-20 buck range for a pair. Don't be sucked in by the 500 buck single cable that claims to be superior, it's wire. Save your money for something else.
