  1. Got this email from Klipsch and thought it was funny. DEAR NEIGHBOR, I'm incredibly hurt that we had to get the police involved with the noise complaint last week. If only you had the experience of feeling a Klipsch subwoofer resonate through your bones and into your soul, I think you would understand. Long story short: Friday night is movie night. You should come over so we don't have a repeat of last week. If you could bring the beer, that would be great since I spent my last paycheck on the speakers (#WorthIt), which you will soon be enjoying. NOT SORRY, ELDEN

  2. Travis, I’m happy to support the Klipsch Museum of Audio History and a certain addiction to Klipsch Heritage speakers. Helping to preserve the long history of PWK is my way of thanking him for being a such a singular genius. Thanks Paul. And thanks to everyone supporting the Klipsch Museum.

  4. As I alluded to in CC and C thread yesterday these things are making sweet sounds in my man cave. Thanks to @MetropolisLakeOutfitters, @Trentster5172, @Chris A everyone at Klipsch and Assoc. Hope AR and most especially to @Chief bonehead. I've got more fine tuning to do. Chris I have the UMIK and a microphone stand but still waiting for a laptop(guess I have to order one before it will show up). I will get back to you when I get it. But so far the settings for the TADs sound pretty darn good to me. Also I have some veneering to do. And cable routing and clean up etc...etc....Oh and listening. Forgot, thanks @cincymat for the XP 4080

  6. After 43 years the hassle of sew-up tires became too much. My friend at Reset Bike Shop in Portage , MI convinced me to let him lace clincher rims & tires to my Campagnolo hubs. The new clincher tires can hold 125 psi, so the low rolling resistance of the old-school sew-ups won't be missed entirely. Now my wife can ride her 45 year-old Schwinn and I can ride my newer (43 year-old) Legnano in Detroit's "Slow Roll." I believe I'll leave the music to the other rollers.

  8. We stopped in one of those stores that was highly advertised on the interstate and bought a bunch of flavors. The strongest proof that you could buy was around 150 or so. The state puts a limit on the strength if I recall correctly. I still have part of a bottle of the stout stuff at the house.

  13. I use a Parasound Halo A23, rated at 125 watts but it's underrated, real world test show closer to 150 watts, it works fine. People ask this all the time but realistically speaking you should be able to tell when you're ripping your speakers to shreds with too much power. I wouldn't be afraid to put a 400 watt amp on them because I know I'm not going to use all that power. I'm typically just going to use the first few watts.

  14. I have Cornwall III's which are just a bit more efficient. Still, I have the benefit of a wattage meter on my integrated (McIntosh MA6600). I have yet to get the volume cranked to where the peaks are even 20 watts. ..Cruising along at 5 watts is freakin' LOUD!!! My hunch is your ears will start to clip before your speakers do.

  15. I'm just the lowly middle man. if you get them to StL by Friday, I'll head southwest with them and drop them off with Opus. He can get them to Hope and then.......All I need is someone to hand them to me and someone on the other end to hand them off.

  18. Lol I dont think you need to worry about the 'cheap amp with inferior parts' issue with that thing. Those speakers will sound great with that amp. You may have to post some pictures when they come in as well. A cool thing about the Forte III is Roy Delgado personally designed them. He was Paul Klipsch's protege back in the day and they worked very closely together. He is also a member on the form as @Chief bonehead and pokes in from time to time give advice and answer questions etc. Much of the horn design on the Forte III came from his work on the professional side and is truly state of the art.

  20. Didn't know it was that high. Just spoke with a dude up at the corner store just now and he claimed it was lower. Take your word for it. Stout sounds like not a Guinness in this case, lol... I mean... He had a flat while already running his spare on I-10. Made sure they were good to go and gave my # in case local help doesn't come as planned. They had been to a welding class in Pensacola, of all places.

  21. @onzedge, Welcome to the forum. Most 150w/ch amps would be just fine with the Forte III's. Unless this amp is cheap(inferior parts, build quality) and the stated specs are exaggerated or plain dishonest, no problems should arise unless you twist the knob to max. Forte III's are so efficient that you will never need anywhere near what a 150w/ch amp can provide. What particular amp are you speaking of? Bill

  22. Lol, yes, I remember now. Yes there is a place, forgot now that we toured through, may Murphreesboro that was advertising flavors and sample. Friend told me it was not the real proof stuff.

  23. It is illegal. It's unethical. It's immoral, and by gosh, it's downright un-American. People can rationalize doing it any way they want to. Putting all of that aside, simply ask Roy in a couple of weeks when you have him cornered if he can share whether/when a 1502 will be available and you know he will tell you if he can. If it a long ways off ask him if he can help you build something scaled down. If he can, he will (if he likes you and you are not too big a bonehead), if he can't, he can't and he will say so.

  24. Haven't heard Mike Oldfield in a long time.... that LP was the only one I've heard too. In the right "environment" around 1980 with the Exorcist movie still fresh on our minds that was one wild ride!

  27. I bought the Groove Clean without the ultrasonic cleaner as the cleaner is available on Amazon for less money. So far, it works very well. holds 4 albums at a time.

  28. Groove Clean is another ultrasonic cavitation-based machine, like the Audiodesk Systeme VinylCleaner Pro that Stereophile wrote about and I just posted about in another thread. The ultrasonic cavitation cleaners are supposed to be very good, according to some. Here is a Youtube segment on the Groove Clean: The Audio Desk looks much easier to use, but does only one record at a time:

  33. Likely "Auto-correct" -- it really bugs me, I frequently have to go back and "re-correct" changed spellings that I know were right before. Like, I suspect most people, I think it's a mixed blessing, as it also corrects my fat-finger moves and ingrained misspellings...

  34. Update: I installed the L-pads and they seem to work as expected. That is, the level of the tweeter goes down smoothly as I turn them. To my ears they still sound just as good so I don't think the pad is reducing fidelity at all. I seem to like them with just a very small amount of attenuation. I would estimate less than 1/8th of a turn from full on. Not sure if these are linear or logarithmic so no way of knowing the attenuation at this point. I had to go into work. Will listen more tonight. So In summary, I would say adding L-pads to the RP-260F tweeters is a viable solution. If I decide to make it permanent though, I'll have to decide where to mount them. I don't want to drill holes. With further listening and measuring I hope to try to quantify the effects on the frequency response better using my "trusty iPhone spectrum analyzer" and white noise generator. Actually, I also have a calibrated signal generator that I could use to sweep the spectrum with CW tones. Then I could just measure SPL. That would be more accurate, but it's also more work to set up. I have all this stuff from radio electronics work but this is my first foray into loudspeakers so I'm trying to learn by asking questions. Thanks for all the great discussion today. Looking forward to more.

  37. Just simply take off the strap from the woofer and tweeter and add the resistor instead of the strap. No, it isn't variable like a knob type lpad and will just do small changes, not large sweeping ones.
