Wanna bet? I on the other hand believe they're the metal inserts that the magnets that are attached to the grill frames bond to.

Could be that too.

that's for the older Cornwall, not the current one.

Hi Claude 😀

I answered well for the current CW IV: 700Hz for the connection between the K33E and the new K-702 according to the documentation of Klipsch, that's why IB Slammin said: With the larger horn I had hoped that it would cross deeper......

Let's hope Stereophile doesn't request a pair (CW IV) to review. If they do get a pair, Chief Bonehead should be present when the measurements are taken. Better yet, fly John A. in with his test gear and oversee the measurements in the listening room and the chamber.

Yes, I'm pretty sure the "tractrix port" is nothing BUT cosmetics anyhow. Sonically, IMHO quoting PWK: "It doesn't make a dimes worth of difference."

I guess I better go with your experience and just throw out my data.......

Looks like a much bigger horn to me. Why wouldn't they just use a K-510 anyhow?

I’ll make the change to the bill of materials tomorrow. Anything else you want changed?

Hey Boss,

Where does the mid horn cross??

tc

Officially 700 but acoustically it’s around 660hz.

Thanks. With the larger horn I had hoped that it would cross deeper......

The crossover points are chosen to match each driver along with other parameters.

The Cornwall is the Corvette of speakers.

An American classic that has stood the test of time and just keeps getting better.

Way to go!

I'm glad I coaxed you out of hiding with this very telling remark of yours, so thank you.

I was thinking more about your tooling cost. Silly me. I guess the anticipated volume will justify it just fine then, eh? Besides, 2" drivers have a harder time getting to 5,000 hz. without PEQ, right? But I guess the selling price will more than make up for it too, it there's NRE and tooling.

So apparently it makes a Quarter's worth of difference then. LOL.

They don't have a chamber.  Apparently they have a driveway though.

I think the tractrix flare improves the flow efficiency, allowing the port tuning frequency to be more stable over a wider output range.

Holy cow, you clearly will be in the advanced group next month.

I think the ports will make a profound difference.  Too much box resonance/sound in earlier CWs.  One of my major dislikes.  I will need to seek out an audition because it seems the problem areas have been addressed.  Just wonder if the poly mid will sound as good as phenolic.  Probably better damping.

The box resonance IS what makes the low bass below 100 Hz. If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong. Besides, y'all are taking this way too seriously.
