  1. Couple days ago, I was heading out to work. I think it was 5:30 a.m. Driving down road, having skipped breakfast at home (to get moving to destination sooner) I decided I'd go to my local Hardee's and get an egg biscuit and a drink. Driving downtown, my mind was meandering on the plan for the day at work.... I got 20 feet past the turn in for breakfast and had a split second to think.... Do I want to keep going, stop at the next Hardee's which takes me about a mile off course, or just do a U-turn and go back here? I did a U-turn at the light. Don't you know that as I was driving in, someone 'ducked' into the driveway just ahead of me. Great.....this is going to slow me down. Typically, the person ducking in front of you wants 15 items.... their credit/debit card needs a call in for verification....OH, then they have 5 coupons that need to be adjusted... Get to speaker, give my order. The offender was in front of me. Offender gets his meal. He then plays chit-chat with the gal at window (move on.....I have places to go!) They conversed for a moment, she goes back to her register.... cripes.... hereeeeeee we go.... out with the coupons, cancel prior transaction, re-ring things.... Yep... she goes back to window, tells him something, he hands her his card again. Sigh. Oh well, I have time. I'm a persistent early-bird so always have wiggle time in my plan. He pulls out....I drive up. She lets me know "Merry Christmas, the car ahead of you paid for your breakfast!" WHA? I'm just staring, confused.... trying to decipher what she just told me. She went on to say "yep.... he bought your breakfast, we get that from time to time but more so at this time of year" I didn't know what to do nor say.... I finally asked her to tell him (if he's a regular and she'd recognize him) if she saw him again, that I said to tell him thank you. Seems his second conversation with her and the re-passing of the credit card was their conversation about me. I'm guessing he decided to pay my bill since it was something like $4.00 verses $58!! Never had that happen to me. Kind of reminds me of going through similar drive through with my wife in front of me (both driving to work so both in town with two cars between us) I was behind my wife, she ordered, got to window. As I was ordering, I told gal on the speaker I wanted to pay for the gal in front of me.....AND.... I would appreciate it if she (the gal on the speaker) would try to get her phone number for me. The car in front of me pulls away (the wife) and the gal at the window said "when I asked her about the phone number, she said 'no'" During this talk, the wife pulled into a parking spot.... I drove over next to her and we had our fries/coke or whatever it was. I always wondered what the gal in the window thought when "the lady at the drive through" told her "no" to giving out her phone number to a presumed stranger, yet, immediately pulls over to a parking spot and immediately begins chatting with this (presumed) masher. Done that several times to my wife. She says it drives her nuts.

  2. Up for sale is a wonderful sounding pair of Klipsch Chorus II's. Chorus II's are hard to find on the used market and even more rare in walnut veneer. This pair has been upgraded with Crites titanium tweeter diaphragms and the crossovers have been recapped with Sonicap Gen II caps (Crites recap kit). The upgrades were no subtle improvement. This is a great sounding pair of speakers. A pair I would be happy to own and listen to long term. I'm only selling to generate funds and make room for something else. There are a few cosmetic blemishes, but these are highly presentable. They look great despite their minor flaws. There's one veneer chip on the top of one speaker. There are a few other smaller blemishes, nicks, etc, but nothing major. See pics and video below. These are sonically perfect. One of the passive woofers has been repaired. It had a small puncture that was repaired from the inside with paper towel and Elmer's glue. See photos. Any questions, please feel free to ask. If you happen to be on the route from Pittsburgh, PA to Alexandria, VA, act fast, I can deliver these to you tomorrow morning. Price: $750 firm SOLD Location: Franklin, PA 16323 Speakers can be seen and heard here: Lots of pics in this album:https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZUrS8j52BHqMsMKp7

  3. When certain peoples demand things they get them. There are more foreigners here than there are originals, so it makes sense I'm seeing the international aisle get bigger. Now the raw fish and the seaweed...... they can keep that!

  6. I somehow blew a tire on Thursday. After installing the spare and driving to the dealership, I was told the tire was still under warranty and that the labor to install the new one was covered. Minor inconvenience... While waiting in the lobby, a woman seated near me was told that she needed a new water pump and a few other necessary items. After agreeing to the work, she immediately broke down in tears, and cried until a friend picked her up since the repair wouldn't be completed until the following day. After she left, I spoke to the service manager and anonymously pre-paid the labor for her repairs. Not my usual MO, but it felt good.

  7. Love `em!, just can't risk those anymore. I'll not give up red meat or caffeine, have some bourbon occasionally in small amounts (shot), chocolate sometimes too. But since I got my new filter (liver) I had to give up raw oysters. I've only had shrimp a handful of times when I could smell it prior to steaming then prepare it myself. I miss scallops more though. A 20# rib roast qualifies here!!

  11. Something for my brother, they're coming up today. Supposed higher Scoville rating than the regular green ja--p---s but these ripe ones are sweet like a red bell pepper, not as hot as regular ****. They're good with white sharp cheddar, probably in cornbread too. **** and serranos done right are as far as I go with the scoville scale. Took a bite out of a tiny orange pumpkin a friend brought to me at work one day, it was on a bet, I got the $20 but needed lots of salt and it burned the next morning. Hab-free zone here! ++ We just made some quesadillas for dessert and not sure how but these are hotter than even the green with a carrot and onion slice in them! Must have had a few duds at the top of the jar when I opened it yesterday

  12. I regularly take shoes and jackets down town and leave them in random places for the homeless to find. Every time I go back to check them they are gone. Vegas has a huge homeless issue. Las week after I got my new seats, I took the huge shipping box/crate to an area I know there are homeless campers and left this mobile room for someone to reside in. It cam with all kinds of very thick cushioning and shipping blankets and the cardboard crate was made from cardboard that was over an inch thick... when I went back, it was all being used.

  13. I specifically asked about the crossovers but he had no idea what they were. They are definitely new to him. He said he just came across them. I need another set of big speakers like I need a hole in my head but, I’d pay the 700 for them but, I’m not gonna beg the guy.

  28. A few weeks ago I urged beginners to heavily skew their spending toward speakers by suggesting that audible differences b/w modern amplifiers that are engineered to be linear (which is pretty much ALL solid-state and any good tube amps these days) will sound pretty much alike. As a followup and to support my point, take a look at what this audiophile club in Guadalajara Spain did a few years back. http://matrixhifi.com/ENG_contenedor_ppec.htm They compared two entire front-end systems that shared the same speakers. Rather than use a switch box (and invoke criticisms of how they reduce audible differences), they simply concealed the whole rig and had two people manually switch cables so eople did not know which front-end they were hearing. Of course, great care was taken to ensure that each system played at same SPL (by matching voltage levels at speaker terminals). To summarize: System A: About $260 today Behringer A500 integrated amplifier (presently avail for $199 from Sweatwater electronics) Cheap Sony DVD/ CD Player (equiv. to a $40 player today) Cheap interconnects: Described as “Standard RCA white/red (15 feet) bought in a 7/11 like store” All placed on a shaky wooden chair System B: I’m guessing $8000 or more at the time. Classe CAP-80 Line Stage YBA 2A Amplifier Wadia 6 CD Transport, VRDS 20 bit DAC MIT Terminator 3 proline XLR interconnects Audican Power Cord CD player placed on an expensive spiked Lovan vibration absorbing (allegedly) table, other components placed on what appears to be sand-filled purpose-built audio component stands. Both Systems were played through ATC SCM 12 passive Studio Monitor speakers connected w/ Tempflex speaker Cables The findings? 38 persons participated in this test 14 chose the "A" system as the best sounding one 10 chose the "B" system as the best sounding one 14 were not able to hear differences or didn't choose any as the best. Of course, this is just two systems and just 38 listeners. ..So devoted subjectivist audiophiles will say this doesn’t prove anything. Also, this wasn’t really a double blind test as those who were switching the cables knew which was playing. However, how many of these devote subjectivist audiophiles would have predicted these results?? So, again, if you’re new to this hobby and you’re budget constrained, give serious thought before devoting a big chunk of your budget to a pricey amplifier, cd player and cables. ..Spend the bulk of your money were it matters most: you’re speakers.

  29. Located in Beaumont TX. Pick up only. These have the same components as the KP-250s but have a carpeted finish as opposed to wood. Sonically they are the same. Modifications that I have made include: Installing 5 way binding posts so that the speakers will now accept bananas or bare wire. Complete recap with Audyn Plus. L-Pad for the squawkers. Stands are included. Selling to finance next project. Just in time for Christmas $500.00.

  35. Tekton Double Impact, I have heard them myself, Huge sound, very impressive. Can take huge power. Were bright in the room I heard them in, and was why the owner ended up selling. Reviews on them say can't be beat for under 20K, but I am not convinced of that.

  36. Geauga lake amusement park had the best wooden coaster imo. Called the Big Dipper and built in the 20s it had manual brake people stationed along the track. That was the smoothest wooden coaster I was ever on. Later it was changed over to airbrakes and that totally ruined the ride.

  37. O.k., tired of screwing with it. Here's the answer I came up with..... An added bonus was, I'm assuming, some kind of voltage drop from the added connections of the switch. Now it can barely be heard. Will have to wait later this evening when all the ambient noise settles. Thanks fer da input y'all!!

  41. Hello Fellow Klipscheads! Been awhile sense I’ve posted. Anyway, wanted to report back after a few months with these Super Heresy’s. I’ve now had ample time to really listen and get to know these SH’s. im still thrilled, anyone debating it...just do it. Spring for the tweeters too. You won’t need another set of speakers ever. Well, unless you have the sickness.lol like me and most others here. what prompted my post, besides feeling it necessary to report back on such an AMAZING MOD, is I recently, with much help for @ClaudeJ1, is I Built a Tapped Horn “Coffee arable” subwoofer. It’s big, and it’s bada$$! So my system is a Thorens TD-124/SME3009/A Maverick tube DAC I’ve modded to all getout, into my MX-110z, feeding a couple MC240’s, strapped for each SH(overkill I know). This sounded stellar prior to the TH Subwoofer. Ive also obtained a few very good sets of speakers, Bozak Symphonies, Altec Valencia’s, And some others. All great speakers. But none with the amazing sound of the SH. With the addition of the TH sub. I’m floored. Maybe This system is done?!! Could it be....I’m actually satisfied??!!! Lol well yeah. I can’t recommend this approach enough. The sound is REAL. The band/singer is in my home, with the MOST effortless sound I’ve heard. The Drums....oh man. I realize there are better systems out there. However, not by much. I’ve heard a lot of gear, by no means all of it. But I go through a lot, and work on a lot. This is about as as good as it gets. I’m gonna get started on restoring the Valencia’s. However, no hurry now. I couldnt be happier. if you’ve got some Heresies, just try the mod. Yeah it’s a bit of cash, but what you get will rival anything out there with the edition of a competent amplification/subwoofer. Like the Coffee Table sub. I need to do some finish work on the sub, to make my Fiancée happy, but I’m just gonna listen for now. ill post some pics soon. This community is a great resource, with guys like Claude helping out and donating knowledge. I’m one happy Camper, Merry Xmas to me! Lol also, Merry Christmas to Everyone of you in Klipschland! Treyphan. Also, if anyone has questions, let me know. I hope I can give back just a small percent of the help I received from here,

  42. Horn user should have attenuation controls on the front end of their amplifiers. The A500 Reference amp, at $199 represents a great value in amplfiers to drive any kind of home speaker. Plus it has power meters that barely light up with all horn systems, but tell you when you are clipping for Heresy's or Cornwalls at stupid loud levels. Personally I prefer the $25 chinese made Class D stereo amps that use a 19 Volt laptop Power supply and are based on the Texas Instruments chips, like I'm using on my Jubilees. Those have gain controls too. The represent the ultimate F.U. to the world of expensive electronics and prove that excellent sounding electronics can be had at a VERY low price. Roy Delgado (Chief Bonehead) used a $39 DVD player to play his reference CD's for Jubilee Demos. Expensive horns don't need expensive electronics to sound great. Horns RULE. Welcome to the world of Klipsch horns!!

  44. I bought mine RP600s week ago, although they are not full broke they already sound awesome. Incredible clarity and details especially with vocals. They sound twice bigger then they are and have huge sound stage. Bright or Harsh .. not in a moment, very good balanced highs. Seems like Klipsch made a winner speaker at this price range. I'm feeding them with Marantz pm7003 and NA 8005 - plenty of power

  45. === I do think we can become a bit jaded with “big” speakers. My stepson was enamoured with my big Klipsch but had nowhere near the space to accommodate anything near a LS or Jube so bought the RP160 and a Klipsch sub. Powered through a Mc amp/Aragon pre and mid level Denon CD it sounds really good. I actually find myself enjoying this much smaller rig, it sounds great. As for his sudden fondness for horns, Gutenberg is probably angling for some Klipsch merch —
