  1. I have bitched and moaned about what a bad 2019 I had. And it was. Well im not going into specifics but 2020 has been a going much much better! Great would sum it up more accurately. Thanks for being great listeners on here, even though, I would not know you guys if I walked past you on the street. I guess if it wasn't for bad times, we would not enjoy the good ones as much. Feels like a big weight has been lifted off of me. Both physically and mentally Peace!

  2. Since I’m new here and also new as a Klipsch enthousiast, it is nice to share my Home Cenima setup. Only just last week finished, for now, my rebuild and change over from Jamo to Klipsch, only the surround rear speakers are still Jamo S60 Sur and my new subwoofer is Jamo, due to the small size which was the only thing my wife would accept in our livingroom. RP-600M as front left and right, bi-amp in use RP-500C as my center Jamo S60 Sur as surround back speakers Jamo S810 as my Sub Onkyo TX-NR676E as AV Receiver Samsung 55 inch 4K tv I’m still amazed every time I play music or watch movies of the Klipsch speakers and their great sound. And to be honust, the Jamo S810 Sub has more then enough punch on -10Db on my Onkyo. RP-600M are crossed over at 60Hz, the RP-500C at 80Hz and the surround backstage at 120Hz.

  3. As a former prosecuting attorney, it is not surprising that the criminal sexual assault charges were dismissed. Kobe has no criminal record related to the allegations of a 19 year-old hotel employee. There were many aspects to the complainant’s statements that undermined her credibility (see Wikipedia). Couple that with the complainant’s unwillingness to testify and it’s not a surprise the criminal case was DISMISSED. There was no plea to a lesser charge. There was NO CRIMINAL CONVICTION. Kobe was guilty, by his own admission, of sex with a woman other than his wife. That betrayal of his marriage vow was a tremendous character flaw, but not a crime. As a former civil attorney who defended civil litigation, it is not surprising that Kobe agreed to a substantial out of court settlement with the plaintiff. Such a settlement supports characterizations of Kobe’s moral character as less than stellar. If death were the appropriate penalty for all who have moral flaws, as Scrooge opined, the “surplus population” would be greatly reduced.

  10. That was going to be my approach. By the time I looked up Pete H's location, you had already jumped on them. But I was going to see how close to StL he was swinging on his trip down. Enjoy them.

  13. PH-2510 = K704 I own both. No difference other than the notch/cutout for the 12" woofer. If you wish to replace the K701/K53Ti in your HIII or CWIII with a K704/DRIVER then expect to modify or replace the HF/MF network. I have a single CWIII that hangs out in my garage for mono duty. A while back I did play around with installing a K704 with a few different drivers just for fun... none of them sounded right or looked right when analyzed. You can swap out the Ti diaphragm for the old phenolic style in the K53. A few forum members have said they actually prefer this to the Ti? I found the difference negligible in my testing.

  14. Progress... The listening room is much larger with a lot more hard surface area. A rug and thick padding are on the way.

  15. I had some Walnut crotch wood I cut some lenses out of just for the heck of it. Some spalted Walnut also I am going to try one day and on the ridge top there are some Dogwoods I think I can get stuff out of. A pink and cream mottled appearance and really different. You start looking at all the wood out there and wheels start spinning. Mulberry of all things is yellow black and so is Osage Orange. Going to try a set out of Black Locust too this spring as I think it looks good and I have plenty of it well seasoned and I think stable enough to use.

  17. Thanks. I already checked them out. They have good prices, but I really don't want to gamble on a "refurbished" amp.

  21. There was a 3 meter doo-dad with a box that had what appeared to be four potentiometers behind the fancy facade and knobs over at Audiogon for over $60,000 USED. I used to go there for the humor of it all but the idea that so many there are dead serious about their nonsense became more than I cared to experience. The new Heresy is a great improvement because of all the real things done to it. The wire is marketing department nonsense.

  22. Why the simple answer is marketing. There are cheapskates like me who buy 12g zip cord 100' at a time and then there are those golden ear's that can apparently detect differences to subtle for me. Golden ears are blessed with insatiable desire to spend money and marketing likes them.

  23. Looks familiar. I removed almost 40' of walls in my home 2 years ago. Made a huge difference in looks and comfort. 800' of hardwood floors did make a difference in the sound, but some treatments helped a lot. Your finished room looks great.

  25. Easy to replace the glass. Small bezel that holds the glass. Might want to see if you can source the blue filters HERE for the meters while you are in there. I did a C-28 where the seller swore he was using a factory box...uh, no and he paid for the new glass. Did one on a metered amp as well but don't recall the model 2505 maybe.

  26. From an evolutionary point ... I think our lung are more equipped to handle smoke over E-cig or CBD/THC juice. Smoke meant fire/heat....Not necessarily puffing on a cig/joint Don't get me wrong. Smoking is not good for you. I use a vaporizer... not e-cig. No juice. It heats dried plant matter to very near point of igniting. The plant matter does not burn. I object to folks calling use of e-cigs as vaping.

  27. Yes, i called Mac parts and left a message about cost and avail. Low and behold they have a you tube video of glass replacement on a Mac receiver, and it doesn't look that hard at all. And that receiver has a LOT more knobs and a built in EQ than my simple power amp. The guy packed it well, double boxed, but only if he had pulled the two knobs off the front I wouldn't be in this boat right now. Came from California. Heavy unit 60 lbs, shifted slightly and knob hit the foam board he used and .....wala...broken glass. I was so bummed when I took it out, but then thought 10 minutes later of Kobe and a helo ride so it will be made right. Its just a friggin amplifier. I talked to the seller and he's pretty accommodating, and apologized. We'll get there I think. Thanks for your reply sir.

  32. Uh...NO. folgers started it all for me, I liked it bought those two pound red cans in the grocery store for seven dollars. Then something changed with the flavor that I didn't like after `93. ⭐bucks for years until they started that musty nasty tasting bean in everything. Marley coffee was the best until his remaining family ruined the business. Have no allegiance to a brand anymore, I'm a freelancer now.

  36. Not knowing your exact location for music, computers and your preferences for working on a big monitor and keyboard vs laptop with small screen/keyboard. Consider where I started out and where I ended up. I know you are more than tech savvy and get this. Just telling you how I evolved and it is WAY better. You don't even need to now carve out time for measurements. You can just fit them in to free moments you have throughout the day. Started out with: High powered laptop on my lap in listening room USB for mic into same laptop Mini jack sound out of headphone from same laptop to stereo RCA ends to Preamp Power cord to laptop because you get carried away and lost in what you are doing and laptop runs out of power That is a lot of cords in your laptop sitting on your lap and you squirm in your chair a bit and either the USB or the Headphone out becomes disconnected. REW does not like it when the mic is removed. You are flipping back on a small laptop screen between Xilica and REW. Xilica does not do tiled windows all that well. Small screen, hunched over in listen chair is not conducive to typing. You are listening to 20-20,000 sweeps over and over. Eventually I said enough is enough. Ended up with: Old laptop you probably have sitting around unused Install REW software only, not xilica Tuck it away in same location your equipment is with mini jack and USB always connected to preamp Ethernet cable to this laptop Ethernet cable to Xilica permanent power cord to laptop as the batter is probably shot Install Xilica software on your "good" laptop/computer with dual 24" monitors, full keyboard, mouse, desk, appropriate work chair etc. (mine work location is on a totally different floor) RDP from work station to crappy laptop in listening area. Run REW from the RDP session Do all your Xilica tweaking on your work station Now you sit in a good work area (with good posture) controlling the entire mic/REW rig remotely. You are not listening to high pitched sweeps for hours on end - Huge bonus your ears will thank you. You never move around and pull one of the many (mic/sound out/power) cables out or screw up the mic position. When you get around to the EQ wizard you will see that the low powered laptop may take actually minutes to optimize. If you have a wiz-bang-super-computer they take seconds. Jut pull the REW file via RDP to desktop of super computer and double click to open REW on your "real" computer. Now run your EQ optimization on the fast computer and transfer those settings to Xilica PEQs. Because you have real keyboard and mouse it is way easier because of dual monitors. One for REW and one for Xilica full screen. Your super computer will find actual Xilica box on the network. No need to be connected directly to it as long as Xilica, old laptop and good computer are all on the same network. I'm pretty sure you have to give Xilica a fixed IP, but it has been a while since I set it up, maybe not just need to know it so the Xilica Xconsole can be configured to find it. Questions?

  37. OK @Panelhead your tweeters are done. First set ever, well the first good set goes to you. I went ahead and redesigned the clamp plate while I was at it so I could incorporate Heli coils in there for strength. I am not going to do this in Red Oak until I can get better northern wood with tighter grain as it does pick out to much with my current material.
