  4. It is a great feeling to be out from under that debt. On SS for a couple decades. Trying to maintain that house when every last appliance died in the last decade.. was a pain. Plus some interest, it all panned out when we sold it though! With housing skyrocketing I'm going to look at a prefab place this next week... these are tiny and really nice though. It will be a half day up and back I think. https://www.greenriverlogcabins.com/ If this pans out I know someone used to looking at land that could help confirm if I would go that route.

  12. I've done it also... there is an aspect of 'comb filtering' that occurs, but it was acceptable and sounded decent. of course a single (that matches the mains) sounds much better to my ears... more focused and cohesive.

  13. Not sure if this is still available ... some sellers forget to put "SOLD" in their listings. Also; check your connections. Have seen several posts indicating "that" was the problem.

  15. This thread is the MAIN listing on Epic speakers with almost 10,000 entries and many links. Suggest you "READ" it to find some answers. Yes; sometimes it takes a little effort.

  16. Moved this General Questions while you do your research. Perfectly ok to ask for pricing, value information, people do it all the time, but usually outside of the garage sale section. Sorry things got off track, normally the rules don't allow for commentary about products, etc. but in light of the request for help you are going to get thoughts from all angles. When you are done with the research, etc. relist it in Garage Sale with prices, etc. and you will have a clean and uncluttered listing where the rules will apply.

  17. The only nerve you hit is basically trashing the product the op is trying to sell. Not around much but you have a history of that so these boys must be ok with it. I personally think that's a pretty lowlife move but hey you are what you are and probably don't even realize it.

  18. I misunderstood... No. I paid only 2.5 euro for the 7 LPS box! It was 5 euro for the Gipsy Kings album. Still a bargain, in mint condition.

  22. Ran across a pair in pretty good shape. They have faint rings on tops, corners sharp, risers really nice, play well, one daunted passive dust cap. Now I’d say the rings would probably be cured with a little steel wool and some oil, but I haven’t even tried to clean them at all. Oh. Grilles look dusty but great shape. Sequential serials. Porch demo and pickup only. Cash. $350. Firm.

  24. They've had to learn about life and death early on, respect for the natural world, work ethic, and consequences for skipping responsibility. They've seen the byproduct of hard work and tasted food fresh from our soil. They've had to care for animals and either watch them be sold for someone else to enjoy or helped butcher and eat the animal themselves. They have immense freedom and roam the pasture and woods often. Many mornings they'll wake up before us and just go hang out with the goats and other livestock. They know how to use a staff twice their height and get animals from the pasture to the barn. They're 7 and 9. There's also studies which show possible immune system boosts and reduction of risk for asthma by being in and around barns and livestock, etc. (And they were breastfed till just after 1yr). This didn't happen by chance, however. My wife and I lived in the suburbs and consciously decided to move out here and have this environment for our kids to grow up in and it's taken a great deal of effort and sacrifice to get here. So I very much agree with earlier sentiments that the attitudes and behaviors are a result of the parents. They still have tablets and electronics, sure, but their use of such things pales in comparison to everything else which fills their days.

  25. I should have kept a pair of those Quad 15" klipsch with 402 horns. That would blow away what I have now. Coulda, shoulda, woulda. I also didn't know I'd be moving into a larger house that could accommodate such a setup.

  26. LOL, zombie thread alert .........I gotta admit, I enjoyed seeing some of those old names from some great members of yesteryear! Were they banned or just left as the forum was becoming something less than it was previously, great that is...JBL, yeah...they made a few great speakers. Their HT offerings comparing to KLIPSCH offerings of that era were way off. I actually bought a pair if Northridge (or something) dual 10's and they were not even in the same league as my rf5's of that time. I requested my money back, which he did oblige and that was the end of my JBL adventure.

  27. My meaning was, can two centers of the same type, for example mentioned RC-62, be used as front left and right, as bookshelves instead of conventional bookshelve-speakers. Getting some good input here, thank You all who answered so far.

  29. I agree with this. Coincidentally, 'dense mix' is what the British A50 reviewer specifically called out as what my A50 amp was not good at. I guess it is easier for the system to give you a sense of the instruments being live in the room with you when the mix has some sense of space to it..

  30. I had a pair years ago and had trouble with placement due to the rear passive. I now have more space, but I have Cornwalls and La Scalas along that wall. So no room to keep them.

  32. Get an AV (home theater) receiver (they are sometimes called AVRs) and cross over from sub to main at 80 Hz. Then you can relax. Since you tend toward being a bass-head, run your 15 inch sub few dB "hot," and consider putting it very near a corner. Your new receiver should be about 100 watts per channel; I assume the HSU has its own good amp built in to it. Which HSU (a good brand) are you getting?

  33. Jazz episode one / few things I didn't know: The Union Sons Hall, also known as Kenna’s Hall and Funky Butt Hall, was one of the most popular places for dancing in Storyville. The name “Funky Butt,” also the title of a song by early jazz pioneer (maybe the first) Buddy Bolden (1887-1931), referred to the foul-smelling, “funky” air at dance halls. Jelly Roll Morton (1900-41) who was first to put jazz played piano in brothel. "Jelly Roll" is slang for female genitalia.

  37. The first non-disgusting speakers I bought were a pair of Dynaco A-25s. They sounded pretty good to my non-expert ears, and I liked the very thin linen grille cloth. A few years later, I sold them to my brother, along with the Yamaha CR-600 receiver I'd been using to power them. Then I got a Yamaha CR-1020 receiver and a pair of Audio Logic AL-750s, which are very similar to the Klipsch Forte in size, if not in sound. I still have them, 41 years later, and they're now in the bedroom. The original surrounds failed in 2004, so I had them replaced then. Hopefully, the new surrounds will last another 24 years. Those 4 speakers were all bought new. In 2006, I finally got the La Scalas that I'd been dreaming about, on and off, since I saw a pair at a Klipsch dealer's in 1972. I got the brochures for the La Scalas and the Belle Klipsches, and liked both of them. By 2009, I had a pair of each, and my life is the richer for it. In 2013, a Forum member posted notice that he wanted to sell his LS2s, low milers in top condition. He was located in Delta, south of Vancouver, not far from the ferry landing. Done deal! He even had the original boxes, so we packed up the 2-piece speakers in the 4 boxes that they came in. The boxes, of course, are bigger than the speakers, so the van was pretty well completely full. With the help of my neighbour and my trusty 4-wheeled hand truck, all 4 boxes made it upstairs safely, and before long I was hearing improved music. The La Scala IIs do sound better than the original La Scalas. Those 6 speakers, plus 2 pairs of Heresy IIs, were all bought used, and the LS2s were in top condition, just as advertised . The original La Scalas have been with me for just over 20% of my life, so you guys are way ahead of me.

  38. No. None of that--I was invited to join a private "Family" of Klipsch forum members who had gotten close here and at pilgrimages and we enjoyed discussing politics for almost 15 years on here until a couple of bad apples got it closed down. There were more posts in that subforum than on the main one and it kept some of us oldtimers here to help the newbies. It actually was in the spirit of Paul Klipsch who seemed to also like giving his opinion on non-audio things. {EDIT Note: If you are talking about the latest thread that was closed, notice it wasn't me who brought up politics even though I was the last one who commented.} No need to reply and best wishes back attcha.

  40. Well, your amp is sending out the (amplified) signal to the speakers at this moment, but they don't do anything with the low frequencies. Your sub will be able to turn that signal into soundwaves,.
