  1. I got two of the SL1200mkII tables in a pawn shop for $300. Used by a dj, a little dirty, but still worked fine. They were missing carts. I put a shell and Ortophon Red on one and sold the other one to a friend for $300 (he knew what I'd paid for them and was happy). My vinyl collection is not very big, but it works great for me. I can only imagine how nice the 12010GAE models are.

  7. We had two 60-70 foot oaks taken down a few years ago.. they were only about 8ft from the house and old enough that they were starting to lose branches. We are in a subdivision that isn't in the county and no woods connected to our propert - meaning we had to get rid of the leaves. I had about 40-50 large bags, so I would stuff a few into my Subaru Forester and take them to work. Since the college had a couple hundred acres or so, they let me dump them where they dumped all of their leaves, grass, trees, etc. It took a couple weeks... Not much hitting the yard now...

  8. I'd find a slightly discontinued mid to upper-end Denon or Marantz AVR (with a good rep) that has been discounted with the features you want. At least that's what I'm gonna do when my AVR-4311CI craps out. Good luck and welcome to the forum!

  9. This „few new caps“ were not soldered in by trial and error, I strictly followed the recommendation which were given officially here in the Forum by Roy Delgado. He did long term testing of different caps to replace worn out Aerovox caps and his final result one can purchase at JEM in the US or I bought equal Polyester types in Europe adding for the same values. I only followed this path and I am happy with the result. From this point of view, you are assuming the wrong things, I am not posting any "listening impressions" of any randomly purchased capacitors in this high-class forum. The same is absolutely true for the only choice of the really correct T2A autotransformer. If your tone was a little less derogatory this planet would be a better place.

  10. Back to cables....does your blanket use a cable🙂 Just heard Jason Aldean released a new album today. Looked it up on Amazon Music and there it was.....in ultra HD at that. Quickly added it to my JA playlist. Very inexpensive.....just the monthly cost of Amazon Music.

  12. George, it's almost like listening to this one. I got the poor kid next door. Did my thang again today and dumped everything on the outside of the bushes hiding the side of his backyard. He sits on the corner of the street coming into the oval. Left everything else of his go. It'll all wind up here anyway. I'll just let him mumble for a while. 😂 Mid 60's tomorrow so might just slip out and hit mine a couple more times. Windy today so just smiled on the inside as I watched them blowing towards the neighbors north of me. Maybe I should hit "Satisfaction" now. 😂 Bleh, just another day in Duckburg.

  13. Moving the tweeter filter from tap 4 to tap 5 will increase the CT-125 voltage by 3.35db. It also drops the K-55 voltage by around 1db. I don't have a Cornwall to measure the actual SPL changes but it's an easy mod to try.

  14. whoa... @Tarheel!!!!! como frijoles tennis shoe? [How you been, Keds] Hard to complain about our weather, today. 40`f AM and 85` this afternoon. Got some fresh glass on the Niissan. 2 rock pits and the normal scratches no mo'. Coulda gotten the feds to pay for it ... but, really tough to get a # off an oncoming. And by the time you recover from the rock in the windshield ... he's long gone. knocking the cobwebs outa the LS. ...which brings up a Q. How do you, if you do, clean the diaphrams in the horns?

  15. No. You have the correct tweeters for that style crossover. To sound “right” you need to replace them with Klipsch parts.

  17. soundbound, I think it's about time we had a cold beer together and listened to some good music. I mean that wholeheartedly, honestly and not sarcastically. @billybob it wasn't meant to offend anyone, sorry if it came across that way.

  18. If they were anything but oak leaves I wouldn't be flipping out. Those things deteriorate like iron. While laying in your yard all winder you lose your grass dut to lack of sunlight. Those things are tough for sure. The big one across the street has 9 huge (prolly 40') oaks and the yard is about 6 inches higher than my yard. The kid next door's house had two more huge oaks in the back yard with two maples in the front. It's about 10" higher than my yard. Everyone else in the hood is just about level w/my yard. I get the brunt of it for sure. It's a real pita!

  21. it's not only the tweeters , it's the crossovers too , buy a pair of K-77M , as far as the crossovers , the AK-3

  22. I can only agree with that. The CT125 in my 1977 Lascala gave a kind of soft hi-fi sound, of course they were also too quiet, but that wasn't all. The vocal authority of female voices, the powerful dispersion of the original K77(M), the way e.g. an old CSNY recording fills the room with energy, an acoustic Martin guitar, all this is so much more authentic when using the original K77 or K77M. The directivity characteristics together with the K400 create a sound that is one piece. I'm happy to put up with a little sibilance from the old tweeter design. Incidentally, it was almost gone when I finally used the original T2A autoformers and the SPL ratio to the K400 was right.

  23. The original tweeters are excellent ,but even more important, they are also the perfect acoustic match to the other drivers . I would recommend returning them to stock. The ct125 tweeter changes the character of the Khorn 🤷and to my ears in a negative way. Unfortunately as was mentioned above, the 4500 hz crossover isn’t compatible with the K77 , but , all that can be fixed . Stock Klipschorn is the way to go , trust PWK’s designs ,be suspicious of the snake oil salesman that promises improvements to this fine speaker .Congratulations , and good luck.🤓 16 gauge is fine.

  25. People ask for proof, and when you give it to them, they don’t listen. It doesn’t matter how many times or ways you explain it to them. Measurements were provided here, for both capacitors and autotransformers. I just posted ESR measurements on the Vintage Klipsch Fans Facebook page a few days ago. No one really cares, either due to confirmation bias, or simply an inability to grasp the implications. I was going to post Boxler’s amazing results on the autoformer with some of my own measurements. I have decided not to waste my time. It’s an exercise in futility. Considering what has transpired here over the last year it is astonishing that there are still people who think that nothing has been proven or discussed at length.

  28. I just got my hands on a set of Nines. Connecting the Klipsch app on my phone shows there is a firmware update available. However, I can't seem to keep a stable connection to the speaker to make the update. It either sits on 0% or just d/c part way through the upgrade. Can someone point me to files/ instructions on how to update the Nines via USB? I can see a package for the Fives, but not Nines on the support page. Trying to make this upgrade as I'm having a LOT of HDMI-ARC stability problems atm. With the speakers refusing to stay connected to my Sony tv.

  29. Well, @oldtimer congrats to yer boys, the Rangers on their first championship. The Snakes had chances, but the Rangers outplayed them. I’ve got a cousin in Dallas who is a big supporter of the team, and I’ll bet he is pleased as well. I’m happy cause the local team is worth watching again. (And I got to go to a WORLD SERIES game two of my sons, one of whom bought the tickets)

  30. I’m sure you’ll get lots of opinions on this. My setup isn’t quite that, but close. I have a Marantz that’s a few years old and it serves me well. I tried a Yamaha last year and hated it. 2 Sonys before that. I won’t buy another Sony…..

  32. I still haven't invited you because it's still not operational with the active crossover. Not because I didn't want to invite you. There were so many other things to do in the family. The passive version as it still is would not have been good enough to demonstrate. Feel free to think it over until spring. You are very welcome.

  33. I have the impression that many new owners of old vintage Klipsch speakers always act much too fast and are much too impatient. Replacing the bass chassis would be the least sensible thing to do. My 1977 bass chassis in my Lascala play like the first day. You should innovate a little more systematically. As DeanG says, first swap the caps for polyester types if the original Aerovox are damp. Later change the rubber rings between K55V and K400, they are mostly crumbled but very important for good sound. The diaphragms of the K55V could...later then maybe also be exchanged. The K77M tweeter should be completely ok if they are still original. You can remove one of the diodes in the tweeter circuit to open this circuit. There is not much more to do. Maybe you can reseal the bottom plate with insulating tape to be able to drive the K33 full bass. Many new owners are not only impatient but they are doing way too much. Worst if you do everything at the same time.

  35. I confess to not participating in this thread despite my interest. Any baseball fan will recognize my hesitation as not wanting to jinx their team. Now that it is over I get to breathe a sigh of relief and celebrate as a true native lifetime fan. We used to go to the minor league games before the Rangers showed up (Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs). One of my first summer jobs was working at the old Arlington stadium for the city of Arlington at Rangers games. Those days are long gone as the team farmed out with corporations for stadium work. We proudly were the first major league purveyor of nachos, making fresh fried tortilla chips for every game. Afterwards, the corps used premade chips (boo). You know you are a lifelong fan when you're up 10-4 and you're still nervous until the final out. It has been a long road to finally win it all. I'm surprised Thebes hasn't joined in to lament his team being nowhere near the playoffs...sorry my friend, no one likes them anyway, lol.

  38. So it's k55m and originally it came with some version of ak- crossover Is ot worth to go back to ak-3? I don't know. But this midrange was not usually used with a or aa. And this A crossover is original or also upgraded to non Klipsch parts?

  40. 26° this morning when I got the kids on the bus and we are supposed to have a high of 42° today. I think it was about 40° last night when we were out trick or treating. We hit up most of the shops in downtown and then headed over to the neighborhood next to mine and the kids made the rounds there before we headed to my buddies place for a Halloween party and to get warm. The eyepatch kept some heat from escaping my left eyeball. The kids all claimed they were plenty warm.

  41. What do you meant by upgraded x-over? What you exactly did. Why did you replaced woofers? Before "immediately" anything I would first listen to them to learn how they sound.

  46. Understood but I might be using my speakers in a large room. And I also use them for home theater as well. With that being said, I definitely agree about speakers which can dig lower. I prefer large speakers which can get down below 40hz with authority. It's the reason why I previously owned JTR 215 speakers and Cerwin Vega CLR 215 amongst others. There is a special cohesiveness with a speaker which can dig low without the help of subs for 2 channel music. The Heritage Jubilees lower mids and upper/lower bass were astoundingly good. And their hf was smooth and refined. They have a cohesive sound which does come together in a fairly short distance and does not sound constrained or raspy like other horn loaded speakers I've heard in the past. I have nothing but compliments for what I heard with the Heritage Jubes. They are well worth their price tag. And I appreciate they are an all in one package with preprogrammed active crossover included. They are much better than any of the high priced horn speakers I've previously owned. And that includes a Danley setup which cost me quite a bit of coin.
