Corona Virus Disease/(SARS-CoV-2) II

The West Virginia governor yesterday announced all non-essential businesses must close by 11p tonight.  That includes bars, inside dining, casinos.

In my world I just paid $1.81 for a gallon of regular gas.  This morning I played my last game of racquetball for a month.  The club I go to 6 days a week just announced they are shut down until at least April 17.  No toilet paper at Sams Club, no meats, very little canned food unless you like Lima beans.

I would estimate car traffic on the road is down at least 50%.

I see floating hospitals may be deployed in light of hospital/testing shortages. That’s great news but by the time a canal is dug from the Gulf to KC I’ll be long dead - Covid 19 or not. Guess I’ll put what I have left in a used Cat backhoe —

Mother Nature already dug just such a canal. Follow the Mississippi River north from the Gulf, turn left at the Missouri River.

In the shyt hole city of Laredo, TX where Mexico's in-your-face "Patron System" flourishes and residents must be registered under a particular party to vote in local elections.....  the City Council voted to enact a City Wide Lock-Down that goes into effect tonight, 12:01am. There is 1 official Wuhan Virus case confirmed and then there's someone they are referring to as "Citizen X" who gave it to that 1 poor bastard.

So you have one mailman who has the virus but doesn't know it. He delivers the mail and if you pick up the mail within a couple hours then you have the virus.

JJK

I get the mail, open if urgent, if not, put it on a sheet of paper on a separate table and will deal with it when it has "aged"  Wash my hands after putting down, my wife turns the water on for me and puts some soap in my hands.  We are a team.

These problems are not really difficult.  Just think of solutions.

Thank you, keep these coming.  Need some comic relief.

Chances of getting Corona.

Just saw a news headline that the amount of people who have been infected world wide has just soared to 200,000.

The amount of people who have died. world wide,  is 8,000.

There are currently 7,800,000,000 in the world. In case I put not enough zeros in, lets round it off to 8,000,000,000 (8 billion).

If you divide 8 billion by 8 thousand that is one in one million.

Bad math, your denominator is wrong.  You are assuming that the new cases and deaths will stop right now.

Texas has 64 cases, so far. WV has on confirmed in the whole state. Not really going anywhere with that, just odd on the numbers. It will be interesting to watch the numbers now that the restrictions are put in place.

Not at all.

These statistics are of this morning.

I never assume anything.

Whew! Does it really work that way? Damn, and all of this worrying for nothing.

I sometimes crack a joke about living in the boonies....  I'm about 10 miles outside of town, then once you get here we're on a peninsula, of (guessing) 800 acres, 500 of which is public woods & trails, and we're on 250.  We're surrounded on three sides by the lake.  Only 6 houses out here so we're isolated simply by waking up in the morning.

Watching the news, it's (perhaps justifiable) drama, drama, drama....  when you look at our daily lives here, it's really life as normal since we're already so remote.  We don't personally witness any of the actions going on other than what's on the TV.

This ^

I live away from everyone too. I never thought once about pissing off the neighbors when I bought the MCM-1900 😎
