  2. Just finished the second cup of joe, sitting and waiting patiently to hop on a plane to Jacksonville NC to see my uncles retirement ceremony tomorrow. Sounds like he will have meetings a paper work to fill, may be a good time to see whats hopping in Wilmington.

  4. I got the rest of the syrups in yesterday. Now have Coke Classic, Dr Pepper, Barq's Root Beer, and Mountain Dew. I am about to have neck surgery so construction on any new projects is at a complete halt. My precious wife hooked up the syrup boxes last night for me. My neck is so jacked up I can't lift a 5 gallon box. Root Beer in a frozen mug....heck yeah! Ok...I am ready. Football may now begin.

  6. Can't get your link to work. See specifically audio room sound proofing online. If you need a double wall, have an adequate air space between the two walls, and make them heavy and airtight each with its own soleplate, and, perhaps, a layer of dense, closed celled sponge rubber between the plates and the floor they are attached to. Jeff Cooper's old book on building a recording studio in a home is very helpful, and provides many soundproofing strategies, with drawings and TL (transmission loss, i.e. # of dBs of soundproofing given barriers will provide) ratings. Nothing (or nearly nothing) will stop deep, loud bass from leaking.

  7. I agree with Mark. As long as the total amperage required doesn't exceed the amperage output of the converter you should be fine.

  8. basically, I'll use something like this and just chop off the usb end and wire directly. Made to step down from 12v to 5v in RC cars, planes, etc. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__15212__hobbyking_micro_ubec_3a_5v.html

  9. there's no line in. the computer is hardwired to the network over ethernet and streams FLAC files from my NAS, parses it through the I2S connector into the DAC module, and outputs directly to my amp via onboard connections. I'll post pictures once I get everything installed and wired up.

  10. I smoked cigarettes from 1981 to January 2013. Then, I did a study of the e-cig on myself. Here's what I found: I no longer suffered bouts of dry cough in my sleep. I did not stink. My breathing improved. On occasion, though, the roof of my mouth and lips felt "sunburned." I am not sure whether that would be from e-cigs or from just quitting smoking. There are many reports of people experiencing mouth ulcers after quitting smoking. In any event, the overall comparison, from my experience, was e-cigs were far the better alternative if one had to "smoke" as a habit. I got the flu in December 2013 and had to lay off the e-cig for about a week. Having done that, I decided to quit the e-cig. I would not recommend the e-cig to a non-smoker. I would recommend it to a committed smoker who might find it to be an acceptable substitute for cigarettes. I am glad I gave all that up. 30 years....

  11. That's pretty funny... The 1/4 inch jacks really aren't good for connecting speakers, even though they've been used for that a long time. The point of contact is very small, and unless you have the locking kind, can get pulled out way to easily. Bruce

  14. OK, I'll bite. I took it as a "buyer beware" of a certain product and a heads up on which warranty to purchase if you're in the same boat. Of course I also view people bashing differently than company bashing (rightly or wrongly). I don't seem to recall the same level of animosity when Bose is bashed either. Full disclosure. I've owned 2 Logitech universal remotes and they've worked flawlessly for years. The first one went 4+ years (I think the battery pack went) and my current one is over 3 years old.

  17. I'll state the obvious. Buy the cheapest one you can find........used. In a year she may decide she hates it and never pick it up again. If she has a knack or passion for it, you'll know and can look for something a little nicer. Some school bands even have loaners.

  20. It sounds like you need to hear Khorns: I agree with your assessment of Belle bass response. I've been working on getting my center Belle to integrate between two Jubilees, and pink noise channel gain tests always displays an audible difference with the lack of the 30-60 Hz octave in the Belle, so much so that I really must use a hand-held SPL meter to set the 5.1 channel gains after I make center channel EQ and crossover adjustments.

  21. For all you retirees it's Thursday! Dinner out with a group of singles last night. Met Christine who seems nice. Relocated here from Pittsburgh. Lunch today with Mary who I have never seen but have heard she is fine! Walked the critter just now and mosquitos about lifted us off the ground. Must have nailed 15 of those suckers. Bazillion still waiting to bite. Coffee finished. Headed to 95 degrees here today....foggy as we speak. A meet up scheduled at the beach at 6:00 for 37 singles....rain chance 30%. Cheers Gents

  22. I appreciate the advice. I haven't found a killer deal yet. I haven't really been looking. Just that sometimes i yearn for a little more bass from the Belles than it seems they can deliver. Maybe that is the sound and I shouldn't expect more. I don't know. Maybe i just need to get out and audition other systems to compare.

  24. I dont know why some does not make little wings that attach to the back and sides of the speaker that make the enclosure sealed and not need walls at 90*

  25. and baseboards are not an issue as far as getting a tight seal to the corners. pipe foam helps get the necessary seal for getting the nth degree of bass response.

  30. Now that would be a new one on me..... A Fatty with Pizza sauce, Spinach leaves, Pepperoni, Feta, Mozzarella is good. Had a buddy do one and I think it was my favorite among the few other other concotians I have had. Maybe you smoke one and then roll it in dough right at the end of the cook and get a decent crust wrapped.

  32. Um............. The 1st voice was one of the Lennon sisters. Dunno which one. Guessing it was one of the older sisters. They baby sat me when I was youngish and one would actually sing (go figure). She was not singing to me, per se - she just always had a song in her heart, she said. The Lennon family lived on the street behind my Grandparents home in Venice, Ca. and before the girls were 'discovered' they shopped out their services for baby sitting. Yay 4 me! In a similar vein, however.......... I'd heard any number of singers but upon attending The Phantom of The Opera featuring Michael Crawford I found a powerful voice so ideally adapted to a very dramatic role. You may recall that when Crawford left that production that they tried many replacement artists w/o much success. His voice, in that opera....... really takes top billing for me.

  34. Pardon my ignorance...but is a crossover not a crossover? I mean...if it is KHorn crossover to spec, what would be a difference between one vs another? Thanks in advance, C

  35. I have read those reviews and they are very favorable. The knobs and paddles are solid. I had Yamaha Parts on the phone yesterday trying to see if I can order a pair of the light wood side panels(natural cherry maybe?). They are not available here in the states so they may have to come from Japan. They were only available on the silver A-S1000 in Japan and the A-S2000 in Japan and the US. If the price is too high, then I will continue with my original plan and have my leftover cherry boards cut and routed to fit. Bill

  38. from my post on this thread: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=543615 I only really care about Heritage Type Speakers...in production together, when I bought my kg1 New circa 1991, from the Owner's Manual: kg1 kg3 kg4 Heresy II Quartet Forte II Chorus II La Scala Belle Klipsch Klipschorn not in production then, but to be considered: kg2 Heresy Forte Cornwall Cornwall II Chorus Current Production: Heresy III Cornwall III La Scala II Klipschorn (Current) my all time list: kg1 kg2 kg3 kg4 Heresy Heresy II Quartet Forte Forte II Heresy III Cornwall Cornwall II Cornwall III Chorus Chorus II La Scala La Scala II Belle Klipsch Klipshorn Klipschorn (Current Production) others to consider: Academy Center (if you can't fit a FULL size speaker for Center, are not man enough to tell the Wife to hit the door it's MY house, or need a temporary Center until you can find a FULL size center, &/or grow a pair) AVAILABILITY, CONDITION, FINISH & PRICE most certainly alter MY PRIORITIES. BOLD = ONES I OWN, NOT BOLD = ONES I WANNA OWN others, like Rebel & Shorthorn, sure, I'd like to own, but I want speakers, not museum pieces...

  40. I just want to be clear on this. The Jubilees that you heard, were these clones or factory made with the big 402 horn and Klipsch designed crossovers/settings? I am asking since something does not seem right. The Jubilees should be much more than an incremental step up from the K-Horns. I know because I am quite famliar with both.

  41. Have you tried a set of Jubilees or even a set of MWMs? Just asking, and it would be a LOT less money. Bruce

  44. wayoutback, I think you've got good instincts in your decision. There are some things more important than speakers. In our house there is no man cave or space that is just 'mine.' When you really share space with another person consensus is important. Having 'my way' is nearly not as important as having my wife's respect. Daddy Dee hit the nail on the head, I think. I was once confronted with the question "Would you rather be happy or be right?" Most domestic battles are just not worth fighting. You could put a pretty nice HT together with Heresys, a small sub and reasonably sized center if you wish. Best of luck and, perhaps most of all, peace!! Chuck

  47. it's amazing how you can see something and have no idea the impact it will have on someone. when i was 12, i was at this game: On May 17, 1973, Bobby Valentine was making a play on a home run ball at Anaheim Stadium when he'd suffer an injury that would prove to forever alter his career. As he jumped on the fence his spikes got caught in the chain links. The result—a multiple compound fracture that would cost him the rest of the season and slow him down for the remainder of his career. thats a killer feature my friend! i have read and heard about it possibly even seen a clip of it. god bless them men in them days. tough as nails and put on such a great show! worth more than what we see today imo
