  3. Whatever happened to If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all Maybe look at post count before being a total d!ck, this place used to be so much more inviting. Agree that most of you had zero interest in buying anyway. And what does pricing somewhere else matter? PM your questions or butt out of for sale posts. Go to the lounge for stupid comments.

  5. Kelly, Sorry for your loss. Please be patient with us. Unfortunately, the anonymity of a keyboard brings out the worst in some people who are, probably, genuinely nice in person. A few here fail to understand that perception is reality. If someone finds your behavior annoying, sarcastically suggesting that they’re wrong to find your behavior annoying is . . . well . . . annoying. If you can look past the few boors, this forum is a great resource for sellers of vintage Klipsch products. It’s possible to get a realistic sense of the market, while exposing your sale to a large group of knowledgeable interested Klipsch enthusiasts. The thread below is an illustration of someone I tried to help who grew weary of the impatience and sarcasm demonstrated by a few. The result was the forum members lost an opportunity to get excellent speakers at a fair price and the seller, due to exasperation, sold them cheap to someone who resold them at a profit. The thread below reflects the process at its best. A local women inherited two 50s vintage Klipschorns from her father. When she told me she’d been offered $800 for the pair by a local dealer, I assured her she could do better than that. The offer of $800 was a fair offer from a retailer who needs to make a profit, but not what she could get selling them herself. With my assistance, and the power of this forum, she sold the speakers to a forum member at a price that was fair to all, and considerably better, for her, than $800. This thread chronicles the collection. I wasn’t able to easily locate the thread documenting the sale. Feel free to send a private message (PM) if you would like to discuss this further. Best wishes with your desire to send your husband’s speakers to a worthy custodian, while getting what they’re genuinely worth.

  6. Yea I cut the cable over year ago. So glad to tell ATT to Kiss MY A**....also told them same thing on the cell bill. I still got them for Internet and house phone because wife needs phone for work from home. I got ant. from Parts Express with an old rotor from the 80s still works. I tried Hulu but last Nov. they changed something and now wont work with my smart DVD player. They said i needed to change devices I told them sounds like I need to change providers ''BYE''. Since last November cable cutters are in the 300,000. I think they are shooting themselves in the foot. Hell they practically beg me to sign back up, but I know how they work...bill is low for 6 months then BAM 160 dollar bill. NEVER AGAIN will i sign up period. ATT would work with me over the years to keep bill reasonable but the last time I called the long term customer number they just said ''well we are getting rid of U-verse and we cant lower your bill ''. I said fine cut it off BYE. Now the guy comes around...OH NO ,YOU CAN HAVE U-VERSE......HAHAHA.....I said you guys screwed up...lol. I bet in 2 years cable companies will be gone people cant afford it. I went to straight talk cell for 36 a month from ATT for 76 a month. Even then ATT store basically told me to F*** off when I asked for help there after waiting probably an hour for help. So glad I never have to go into that store ever again. Cant wait to see ATT go out of business. I see young people paying 200 to 300 for cell phone they are crazy. On ant. TV I get 3 KCPT channels the REV'N channel. Could do with out all the bible thumping channels but I got Netflix and a laptop so can watch almost anything. Except CBS they will not let you watch their stuff on the laptop with out a fee so we just watch those shows when they are on. Or we just got to Redbox and rent a movie watch it at home on a better sound system stop it when we want or back it up if we miss something.....Bye movie theaters with 10 dollar popcorn....lol.

  9. Kelly; sorry for your loss and for the "unfriendly" introduction here. But ... have to give you one more explanation. We often see "newbies" on this site who have found some Klipsch speakers for almost nothing at garage sales, etc. Then they try to get BIG $$'s for their find here since most of us Klipsch "nuts" frequent this site. Be assured, just about all members here are very honorable and honest people - on this site to assist others. Equipment here is usually offered "way below" eBay prices as we want "our stuff" to have a good home, rather than making a quick buck. Hope this helps. Best wishes, Emile

  11. @Thaddeus Smith. Just unpacked it and replaced my center 92dB KV2 with this 97dB Yamaha S112IV (blasphemy). Did not change any volume settings so the "new" center obviously is louder yes; overpowering my L/R/surrounds - KG3.2's and 1.5's on an Onkyo RZ810. (Wanted to try it this way to see what it will be like with my 904's ... next hour ). First impression; very nice clear, defined sound, good range. Only tried it a low volume (wife is working in the office). Nice large horn (2" VC; 1" throat, approx 13x8 outside dimension) ... very musical; doesn't seem to be "in your face," but we'll see what happens at louder volumes First thoughts ... highly recommended as center! More to follow! Anything I should look for in the sound? Cheers, Emile

  13. Also, promo code PFREEMINI for a "free" Google Home Mini, on purchases over $150. Ebay has been having quite a few promo code sales lately, so keep an eye out. I think the last one was either 10 or 15% off (max discount of $50 or $75 I think). I had a UPA-700 a few years back - nice gear.

  15. To an extent, larry. The islands are littered with tuff cones as well. The dominant form is the shield volcano, but even shield volcanoes have their moments. The cascades and the pacific rim is a fault line, plate tectonic style rift for activity. Hawaii is part of a plate moving over a hot spot. Never underestimate the potential devastation as the earth churns. There is evidence of a massive tsunami that hit Australia in the distant past. The likely cause was a massive slide of Hawaiian earth into the ocean.

  16. I was looking at that same wire in 18ga for a security system. It is about the sam price as Belden wire if you can find a Monoproce coupon. Does anyone have a source for a good quality 22 ga wire? I need 2 wire and 4 wire spools.

  20. So you talk about the newbies coming in here trying to sell gear. You've been a member since October, so that makes you a grizzled Klipsch veteran? IDK a lot of technical info, I can just tell you what sounds good to me. Equipment here is usually offered "way below" eBay prices as we want "our stuff" to have a good home, Some Klipsch forum members want everything for next to nothing, how they came into your possession really has no impact on what a fair price is. And when they sell, prices can be on the high side. Nature of the beast. GLWS Mark

  23. Well, now, am I wrong, but doesn't Hawaii have very, very fluid lava that doesn't build up overwhelming Mt St Helens - type gas pressures that blows whole mountains and regions apart in huge explosions? Rather, doesn't Hawaii have gentle outflows that send watery lava down extremely gentle slopes? I think that's why the Cascade Mts have very sharp cone-like slopes and blown-off tops while Hawaii ex-volcanos have incredibly gentle slopes that go on for miles, and their "eruptions" are mere soupy runoffs that don't blow up. Yes, Yellowstone would have a world-changing explosion, while Hawaii just has another highway or subdivision slide off the hill.

  26. Yeah; I did contact him when I saw the initial ad and unfortunately he's not interested in shipping. But thanks for looking out for me! Interesting note: The model he has for sale does not appera to have a high/low output (+/- 3dB) switch, as mine does. Those binding posts are different than mine, too. Wonder why/when the changes?

  27. I will tell you now this will read like a rant Sold some gear to The Music Room in Broomfield CO. right away they started telling lies, we will pay in advance BLAH BLAH BLAH (realize of course paying in advance is how every buyer buys product) We discuss trades in lieu of cash. All the sudden they wont ship the trades till they receive my goods and test, inspect etc...They can not comprehend the trades are the same as cash over 20 plus messages and 2 different people. So all trades are cancelled and i accept there low ball offer. I buy a phono stage and go on about my life, We visit family for a week I get home and find an email TMR Mistakenly shipped me items and they want them back. I inform them I was away and there is a gate at the entrance of my property and if something was left there it would have sat at the road for 3 or more days. Right away the innuendo begins. I contact Fedex and start an investigation, then inform The Music Room they need to file a lost package claim. Innuendo continues Fedex of course denies the claim, The Music Room unhappy and the innuendo ramps up, They are contacting the police . I as I always do go into full on defense and research. I find un-solicited goods law which states if you send me something un-ordered It is considered a gift, I have no legal obligation to return or ? The Music Room moves on to full out accusation so I tell them to look up law as it pertains to unsolicited goods (my defense) They are unhappy and continue to call me a thief. Fast forward 1 month and I get hit with a paypal claim for the 5 goods I sold them claiming not as described. On there website all 5 goods were listed for sale 2 have sold and all there descriptions matched my initial selling descriptions to a tee. I respond to the claim stating if they return all 5 items in the same condition received I will refund, meanwhile I email The Music Room and tell them this is fraud and I will fight them, The owner responds "Glad I got your attention, Return the erroneous shipped items" 2 days pass and I call paypal as you may imagine I am pretty pissed, I am told the buyer (The Music Room) can take up to 20 days before responding to there claim or my offer for them to return all 5 goods for a refund. Apparently I piss off the Lady on the phone she puts me on hold, The wife accidentally disconnects me. I go to email and Surprise Surprise Paypal has emailed at 6:43 they have escalated the duispute. at 6:46 I get another Email from Paypal They have decided the buyer deserves a refund and they will instruct the buyer to return my stuff (i am now scratching my head, How the hell does paypal know if the seller returns my stuff or a box of rocks?) And of course my paypal is locked and I am unable to do anything................................................... I am officially finished selling anything on the net that a buyer will not pay via cash, check, money order. I am also finished using paypal to pay for anything. Rant over !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. I may be a liberal democrat, communistic socialist and all, but what brain dead moron buys a home next to an active volcano? Are we supposed to bail out people for being that stupid? Not at all sympathetic to the people around there. Most of that area is richy, rich recent development inhabited by stupidos.

  31. At one time or another we've all said something we wish we could have said differently and I put myself at the top of that list. At that point all we can say is "I'm sorry" and I've already seen the men I respect step up so I think we can hit the Reset button at this point and move forward. I think this group has a lot to offer to help Kelly move her Khorns in a timely manner. I've already seen a lot of helpful comments and suggestions of fair market price have been right on the money IMO. The location where the speakers are, condition of the speakers are all relevant to helping her value what she has and be able to move the speakers to another loving home.

  33. I follow Heritage speaker prices. My perception that your perception that Klipsch speaker prices are higher in Texas than everywhere else in the country is correct. It's really hard to find a deal on Klipsch in Texas. Road trip! I drove 8 hours to pick up a $300 amp. It should be no problem to drive 200 miles to pick up some $950 speakers. Besides, tell him about the Pilgrimage to Hope to visit the Klipsch factory! This could really work out.

  37. First, I'm very sorry about your loss. Second, I have found this place to be unnecessarily hard on new members and pricing and I am sorry for that. I doubt the comments would have been as harsh if they hadn't seen the facebook page with the lower price. Typically things are offered here at a discount over posting on other sites. However, you are free to offer them for whatever you wish. It is very cool that you have a pair of nice oak Klipschorns with Paul's signature. Good luck with your sale.
