  4. Klark Teknik EQ. Lived life in a Rack. The whole system has been well taken care of that I'm selling slowly one by one. All switches, knobs, and connectors cleaned with Deoxit. Nothing is loose. No hum or scratchyness. These sell well on Ebay but I thought I would run it by here first. $240 shipped in CONUS. PP Friends and Family or send me a check to clear. Here is a video of it......

  6. Which models of Aragon are you speaking about? Generation I(Mondial owned) = 2004, 4004, 8008ST, 8008BB, etc.= overbuilt beasts with mil-spec high quality parts, able to easily drive the most demanding speakers Generation II(Klipsch owned) = 2002, 2005, 2007, 3002, 3005, etc. = very well built with mil-spec parts, basically rebadged Acurus amps which ain't too shabby As far as Aragon vs Emotiva, maybe biased here but I would choose Aragon first all day long for sound and build quality. Service ability, maybe Emotiva because of current product line. Though older Aragon/Acurus can be serviced through Indy Audio Labs recommended service company, Sybesma's Electronics. http://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/aragon-4004-mkii-vs-emotiva-xpa-2-gen-2.687110/ Bill

  7. I am playing a great symphonic prog album by Anthony Phillips released 1977 This album reminds me in some parts to the Genesis - Trespass album So that is a plus as I have read that all of the tracks were written by Phillips while still with Genesis A sleeper album that deserves more exposure Artist - Anthony Philips Title - The Geese And The Ghost ************* If Anyone is wondering what painting that is It’s by a young artist called, Autumn De Forest - American Gothic

  14. Car, home or work. Knobs please. I specifically looked for a volume knob when I decided to have my car stereo upgraded. Period. All this hand waving, tapping or talking to command the radio to do something is annoying. I can easily reach over and turn down the volume (and keep my eyes on the road)with a push have be muted. At home one of the things that bothered me about modern gear aside of it being black is its reliance on the remote. I've been a Denon fan all my life but it drives me NUTZ that without the remote you are looking at a doorstop with some of their gear. Be careful which model you buy. On the other hand while I'm not a Yamaha fan when it comes to their sound I DO give them credit for allowing some functionality if you lose the remote with access to everything via knobs & switches. Smart people over at Yamaha. So give me a good ole 30 or 70 lbs of receiver with aluminum machined knobs even as "lowly" as the Sony str 7055. The quality of the scalloped knobs with beveled edges and it's slight resistance give it that feel of a well engineered product. I'll even go so far as to say they best even the mighty Marantz 2500 when it comes to knobs. In fact Sony probably made one of the best ever. Look closely.

  16. The lava has made it to the Ocean. One can take a tour. Though, when lava hits the seawater, particulates of volcanic glass and hydrochloric acid boil into the air, just make sure you stay upwind, you should be fine.

  18. I own the Acurus A200 which is the Aragon 2002 equivalent and did own two Acurus 200FIVE which is the 2005 equivalent and both are rock solid, neutral tonally, huge bass drive, dead quiet amps. @derrickdj1 owns one of my previous 200FIVE amps and @Youthman owns one of my previous A200's. The only real difference between these Aragon and Acurus amps is that the Aragon has twin 24,000uF power caps while the Acurus has twin 23,000uF power caps. Of course casework is different. Bill

  21. Dean mentioned the big problem. A secondary problem is that there is also a few dB attenuation in the 300-400Hz range. It was this problem (that is not fully understood) that caused Klipsch to include the rubber gasket on the back/rear of the bass bin. This gave a tight seal and minimized the loss.

  23. Thanks Dave....hey dubs. The UPA-700 may not be a worthwhile move if you have anything close to that 80 WPC. I would go out on a limb and say you may not benefit from the UPA-700. The other Denon receivers in your class seem to put out about that amount into five channels. Some more, some less. If you are looking to power just your front three, you would be much better off grabbing an XPA-3. 200 WPC will be noticeable.

  25. [EDIT: lacquer continues to be among my favorite finishes for Baltic Birch, in particular--but NEVER use it indoors; my initial post completely missed this part of the original post. My apologies. ] Two things jumped out at me in your question: 1. Natural finish; and 2. Baltic Birch... Yes, agree completely about particular difficulties presented in staining baltic birch (splotchy, uneven). Clear, water-based urethane can help; and waxes, too, can be good. By far the best thing I have found for natural finish on Baltic-birch ply: Lacquer. Brush it on--or spray it (but, it brushes on very nicely). No need to prep with a "stain conditioner" first: Just sand to 150, or better, and apply. Another benefit I have found is that it typically self-levels so quickly--that the brush marks almost disappear completely--I find brushing on lacquer often looks like it was sprayed... very nice. Also, the stuff dries quickly and is easy-peasy to work with. Will not substantially alter the color of the birch (won't yellow like oil-based products; --similar in this respect to water based urethane). The cans says no sanding between coats... ? you decide.

  33. Nope you're aren't the only one. I think I complained about this in another thread. It's awesome right? It's 4am on a Saturday morning and I get up for my weekly long run, turn on the control unit and boom, max volume, Wakes the whole house up. It does it at other times as well but those are the ones the wife just loves. I did have it to were my Tv and cable box would come on with the control unit but to prevent this from happening I stopped that and now I power on the control unit and after I see it isn't at max volume I then turn on my source. Two years since the last update but I doubt this would fix it. This system is a lemon. Not our units but all of the units. Klipsch promised lifetime updates, "future proof" and even hardware changes if needed. The haven't delivered on any of their promises and won't respond with a solution. I think they are waiting for the HD Wireless to quietly go away.

  39. My daughter went to Belgium about a year ago and brought back a six pack of a dark beer made at a monastery. The monks sell it once a year and that's how they raise their funds for the upcoming year. I don't recall the name of the beer and there were no labels on the bottles. Typically I don't care for dark beer but this was exceptional. If I didn't see the color I would have never have known it was a dark beer. I finally got to try it last weekend. Truly remarkable beer.

  40. That is Monica, she has been with Cary Audio for 13 years. @guywithwine will explain the drawings and has other schematics he is going to post. I'm guessing that is a layout drawing for production, for how it is supposed to look, and that there are also parts lists and schematics in that binder for her to reference.
