  1. Got a crowd favorite today, I'd call this progressive! The discogs seller shipped very fast, but it spent 7 days in NY, then 9 days in IL travelling twice the distance if it had been shipped straight towards the south from the Great White North. (bangs head smiley) very clean, though not M quality it's definitely NM. Alan Parsons Project Tales of Mystery & Imagination

  4. And they were, for the teams they were on. To me the beauty of it is that the knights were savvy enough or maybe even lucky enough to put together the right mix to get such a winning team. Congrats in the other tourney (IIHF worlds) to the US for beating Canada for the bronze...and also for Sweden for taking the gold. It's good to see Klingberg experience a winning team that hopefully will translate back to the Stars next season.

  5. I listened to the game today on Sirius XM NHL Network on my drive back from Hope, and there was a great story about several people that are holding wager tickets in Vegas that have the Golden Knights as 500 to 1 odds to win the cup....the bookies are sweating.....

  10. After enjoying my Rf82ii’s and other reference II gear for 4 years, I stumbled on some modified cabinet decorator Klipschorns on Craigslist. After hearing them, I knew I had to have them. It also made me no longer satisfied with Reference gear. Even though they weren’t the B model cabinets I thought I was getting. They still sounded fantastic. Well that ended up being a rabbit hole to say the least. In one year’s time, I ended up with new Crites AA crossovers, ct-120 tweeters, A-55g mid drivers, Yamaha rxa1030, built a VTA ST-70 tube amp, Krell Kav-250p preamp, Kg4s, Marantz 2215, Yamaha 810, technics 1800 mk2, smsl dac, Anthem mca20, BenQ 3050 projector, 125” screen, Cornwalls, (3) heresies, and Forte II’s During this year I learned about the pro line. I became obsessed with all things klipsch through this fantastic forum and the klipsch groups on Facebook. The jubilee was always a pipe dream. With a little help from the man, Cory Harrison @ Paducah home theater, we made it reality. Sold off some stuff from my other hobbies and ordered a set of 2-way Jubes finished in walnut. 402/k691. Also a xilica 4080 dsp to run them. But why stop there? A KPT-1802-HLS would compliment them so well right? Well surely it would so I hit the buy button on one of them as well. A bridged crown 2002 to send awesome low frequency juice to the behemoth of a sub. The sub shipped out right away so I’ve been playing with it everyday. Learning a bit about the xilica and REW with my umik-1. It blends so seemlessly with khorns, that I can’t wait for the jubes to get here in a couple days. It has been a long hard wait from the time I asked to get them ordered to now. What a pleasure it will be to have another piece of PWK and Roy’s handy work sitting in my small living room.

  11. Why does American news spend so much time talking about the British so-called Royalty. They never seem to point out that they are one of the longest running scams in history. Despite being billionaires they regularly fleece The Brit taxpayers for billions more. Yes it's a tough life. They have to flit from castle to castle, let people take pictures of them, attend all the good parties and even the toddlers get driven around in a Rolls. Another silly hat wedding this weekend and more blather from what passes nowadays as a western press corps. Me, except for the religious stuff, I'm a Cromwellian. Regicide. Now that's the ticket. Any chance The Donald could divert a spare B2 over the Channel and finish off the undone business of the American Revolution.?

  14. A shame to see Winnipeg bumped but they had a good run all the same. Looks like Tampa vs Knights for the Cup.

  15. Well I survived the weekend with it in place.. my ears/brain are still adjusting, but I managed to build a proper cable and get that run through the wall so there's no unsightly mess. Haven't figured out a solution for the TV stand yet (so I can move it back flush with the TV and LS's), and next steps will be some fresh paint on the grill and corner protectors, a rat fur shave, and to replace the eyelets with flush bolts. Morgan isn't in love with it, but after a few movies she seems to be generally ok with it.

  16. You're not planning on building a subwoofer with that driver are you? 11mm of x-max and an fs of 47Hz are typically something you'd see in a mid bass driver.
    1 point
  17. Yes, that's why you take the required volume for the driver (supplied by the manufacturer), add the volume that the bracing will take up and then add the volume that the portion of the driver that hangs in the box takes up. That's why I said that to get a NET volume of 1 cubic foot, at times you need a GROSS volume of 1.25 (for example) ft. The driver's physical displacement can be found in the driver specs most times.

  20. Song of the Sea. Really fun kid movie out of Ireland, excellent animation. A little heavier themes than most Disney garbage, but solid storytelling and my 3.5/6yr olds made it through unscathed.

  21. I've not heard a pair of M2s yet so I can't be of much help on that subject. I'm sure that they sound superb from 500 Hz up. But I still wonder why JBL continues to use ported (direct radiating woofer) cabinets on their high end loudspeaker models, and most especially, failing to talk equally about that portion of the spectrum with its non-uniform polars vs. frequency. I've found that having good polar control below 500 Hz has a disproportionate effect on the sound of the loudspeaker in-room, as well as the cleanness of vocal and speech recognition. It's as if they are saying, "well, that part is too hard, so we'll just avoid that subject". It isn't too hard, BTW. But it is as if JBL continues to push ported woofers, so no one will ask questions. Danley provides a different solution with their larger Synergy series loudspeakers (multiple entry horns), and so does Klipsch with the Jubilee and their larger behind-the-screen cinema systems based on MWM bins. It seems to me that multiple entry horn (MEH) designs are tailor made for home hi-fi duty. Chris

  24. And most everybody on that team was deemed expendable to even be taken by the expansion team. They're all having the last laugh, they went 51-31 this season, now get to play for the Stanley Cup

  25. Well whomever wins from the East I hope Vegas wins the cup. They are very deserving. To think a first year expansion team doing this.....amazing!

  26. As i sit here listening to my FIII, I cannot imagine what the OP must be hearing. All I experience is a full, detailed, room filling experience. These things image as well anything I have owned. And the tone and dynamics are incredible. I know horns are not for everyone. But if you like the original forte, I don't understand how you can't fall hard for these. Shakey

  28. Voice coil? You could swap the crossovers to make sure that isn't the problem. For that price it is OK to put a little money in them. Great buy!

  29. I'll have to agree with wvu80. I had absolutely no intention on buying a pair of HIP's at this time. But a pair of 84's showed up on the Face Book Marketplace. He was asking $400 but showing him cash in hand I got them for $250. About another $200 in parts to spruce them up and new caps from Bob and they look and sound damn good now!! Just have to crank em' to get the bass to thump. I know, big difference in size.

  31. An object in possession seldom retains the lustre of an object in pursuit. Taste the milk before you buy the cow. That’s all I the sage I got growing right now... lol. As for the OP disappearing, maybe he’s got other passions on the go now that summer is here... Golf, criusing around top down, catching some rays. Just wish I had his disposable income. Jubes and a KPT-1802 would fit the bill!

  33. The reason I posted that particular LS Alert was that a lot of people don't have FB and the ad was not placed in a place most people would look for Klipsch speakers. The LS's are La Scala Industrial and in rough shape IMO, but could probably clean up nicely. The average price for LSI in good shape is $956 by my numbers, 12 samples. I don't think I'd offer more than $600 for LS's in that shape and that's assuming all the drivers work.

  38. That is some very nice gear! Your Yamaha Receiver is top shelf but the power output drops drastically when more than 5 channels are being used. If I was in your shoes, I would buy a 5 or 3 channel amp to drive the main speakers. That will take a ton of stress of the receiver and add all the headroom you’d ever need in a normal sized room. Oh, a second 115 would also help;)

  40. Kelly; sorry for your loss and for the "unfriendly" introduction here. But ... have to give you one more explanation. We often see "newbies" on this site who have found some Klipsch speakers for almost nothing at garage sales, etc. Then they try to get BIG $$'s for their find here since most of us Klipsch "nuts" frequent this site. Be assured, just about all members here are very honorable and honest people - on this site to assist others. Equipment here is usually offered "way below" eBay prices as we want "our stuff" to have a good home, rather than making a quick buck. Hope this helps. Best wishes, Emile

  42. For the money, the SP14 is a decent entry level Pre. I added some Mundorf SOG caps and some 181 treasures to mine as well as a third preout for a sub. Improved the sound but could never get the "hum" from appearing on my Cornwall III or Heresy III drivers. Played around with grounding etc to no avail. Upgraded to a PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium preamp with the 12AU7 first stage and drivers. You can tube roll to your heart's content with that valve. Difference is night and day on sound quality and the noise floor is in the cellar now. PL is also bout 3x or so more $, so I guess you get what ya pay for. VTA has been demoted to second string in my workroom system for now.

  43. I have listened to two, of the three I bought. They sound good, but I get static with every click when I adjust the gains. Have you had this problem with yours ? I use 3 of them, two inside for 2 Ch and one out by the bar and no sounds with the gains, but I do get a mild pop through the speakers when I shut them off no matter what order I turn them off. So I leave them on unless I'm leaving for a week or more they draw very little at idle. The one in the bar is outside, under a roof but still somewhat exposed to humidity and fog so it stays on. I needed something out there that would not be expensive to replace so I got a Pioneer Supertuner with pre-outs and added one D 75, it works great and has been out there for over 3 years with no problems so far, they both always stay on to help keep them dry. JC is who told me about the D-75's when I was trying to think of a cheap way to power the 2 Ch inside, I needed 4 channels and the 75's work great. Not a crazy amount of power but easily enough for very efficient speakers indoors, so I got 2 from ebay and another from a forum member. I am a little surprised at that the one outside or the car radio has not had a problem, there in a little box so I hoping it being on helps keep out moisture ? One pic you can see the box and where the Heresy's ended up, where the grills are up by the roof angled down and mounted upside down. The other pic is where the box slides in behind the bar, no rain on it ever but it is outside, and sounds pretty good. Wifi works well out there and it has a Cd player, I connected a long cable so I can lay in the hammock and adjust volume and change songs. Since then the speakers are kind of hidden by a large fishing net, which has all kinds of things people added to decorate the net, it's not plain anymore like in the pic. Almost hate to say it but it's almost my favorite place to listen to music.
