Wife got me these for my birthday.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk5 points

You may have seen these already in alerts or in 2 channel. I have these on eBay. I'm asking a lot for them on eBay or best offer. EBay charges fees, PayPal charges fees, and now Massachusetts charges tax on third party selling sites such as eBay. That is basically the reason for the high price on eBay. That being said, for an established forum member I'll offer these speakers for what I have into them. $800 and they are yours. Contact me through the forum and not eBay for this deal. They are great speakers, but I haven't been listening to them lately, so I feel like my experimenting with them is done. I don't need to sell these, but I figured someone on the forum might want to give these a more permanent forever home.3 points

They are Ramblin Rose c1979. Not sure if you know how they are made, but I have read that it's made from sheets of birch and walnut that are dyed and reglued and radially cut to achieve that effect. Gotta be an expensive process. I've also read that there were only 25 pairs made with this veneer. The pic doesn't do them justice. They are hypnotic.3 points

I read through all twelve pages of the original thread and with all the research you put into them, I already know I’m going to enjoy them.3 points

Yea I like free. After all the Jubes were not free, the Xilica was not free, and all the other equipment neither. And after all I'm just trying to get 95% of the way "there". The idea of paying lotsa bucks for that additional 5% does not appeal to me. As Chris says YMMV2 points

Oh my..... Yes dinner at minimum. It's one thing to drive down the road and get them but 5 hrs. It might be a birthday present but you are definitely going to need to top that on hers. :-)2 points

I looked into these quite a bit a while back but never pulled the trigger on getting the components. From what I read they will make excellent surround or ceiling atmos speakers and they radiate in a way that nomatter what angle you listen you still get a good soundstage. Many people rum them with a super tweeter though for the high end. I think the optimal setup is using rigid fiberglass board. The technology is actually moving into the pro audio field as well: http://www.tectonicaudiolabs.com/2 points

The Version 1 CF series were designed by Roy Delgado (Forum name @Chief bonehead) who worked closely with Paul Klipsch and was his protege. The Version 1 speakers have a longer port tube, i think around 6 inches, and are known for being extremely balanced and musical. Supposedly some dealers didnt think it they sounded "Klipsch Like" so Klipsch revised the design for Version 2 which had shorter ports to change the speaker to have more 'sizzle' at the cost of the original V1 smoothness. Then they moved to Version 3 which had cheaper drivers and colored wiring. Roy typically works in the Pro side now but recently designed the Forte III which is another speaker that I am sure will be just a coveted in the future. As for an investment, assuming you keep them in good shape I imagine the V1s will always hold their value.2 points

Never heard anything, went looking and nothing in the news. I wasn't sure where Arivaca Az really was so I went looking, it really is a small place, but I was surprised it's only about 10 miles from the border.2 points

I've read that about the Dirac, but I can't get past the reviews I've read about the Emotiva Pre-Pro user interfaces. I just keep reading they're not very refined, and if I'm going to drop a bunch of money in one, I'd want it to work effortlessly. I've heard their equipment is well-built, but several posts in my searches have given me a little doubt. How would you compare it to an Integra since you have experience with both? I've had a recommendation to look at the DRC-R1, and I haven't see any bad comments about their equipment. The system is mostly for movies, but even for music, I like to have all channels firing if possible. From what I read on the Marantz, it allows separate calibration for subs and separate video settings per source rather than a global setting. I love the system you've got...I've got a similar one (all heritage).2 points

I didn't know what that was but definitely heard of the KG-4's, they look like there in great shape. Happy Birthday to you ! And tell the wife well done, not many wives would do that.2 points

I don’t believe that measurements are everything, but I do believe that if the differences people claim to hear between speakers, cables, amplifiers, cd players, etc. can’t be reliably identified while blinded, then the differences aren’t really there.. just mho2 points

Heritage for sure. They are still great speakers and are reasonably priced in today's market.2 points

Did you try different cables ? I had the same thing happen when I first started using REW, then I tried some different cables and eventually found a few that were both equal and flat in the sweep calibration. Toss the bad ones.1 point

Massive girth indeed. Where have I heard that before.... Oh well glad you enjoy your cable. Hell of a bargain in my book.1 point

Yikes 😬 I guess I forgot how much I rely on the HDMI bus from my laptop to my AVP to give me consistent undistorted output. I don't know what to say other than "good luck". Chris1 point

Does anyone use Yahoo messenger for emails? Did you get a notice saying that they are shutting that service down on July 17, 2018? Wow what a PITA to change all addresses linked to your email....bank, brokerage, FB, contacts and on and on. Any tips on a better way to make the change? Wonder if I will lose my post count here after I reactivate my account? After a little search I think the message just referred to the mobile app! What a relief!1 point

Companies are selling hidden speakers this way. The speakers can be items you wouldn't typically think about like pictures on the wall or other items.1 point

Hope Y'all don't mind - but I'm just going to keep updating this thread as I work on the K-Horns... I'll get some detail pics soon, but I started piecing the hats together today. Several angle brackets got the sides attached and then I test fit the top and grille. I also installed all teh side covers. Planning to continue with small angle brackets and screws and once its all back together, then I'll glue where the breaks occurred. Pics: Horns with TV and AV rack before: With right side hat installed and sides installed:1 point

Well .... on the new laptop the REW is downloaded and running. The UMIK cal files are installed and REW recognizes it being hooked up. I've got the XConsole software installed to control the XP 4080 crossover. I'm getting darn close to being able to do some damage. I've got to learn how to use REW now. Some youtube tutorials are in order.1 point

And that's exactly what it takes most of the time “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” Calvin Coolidge1 point

I have admit to being undecided on that issue. I take it you are in the camp "if it can't be measured it isn't real?" My being wishy-washy is because I've never understood how someone can look at a chart and decide if a thing sounds good or not. I think some of you charts-and-graphs guys might be able to do that, but I sure can't. My common sense says you can hear things that can't be measured but (duh) I don't have any data to back that up!1 point

I call a BIG BS. Now if McIntosh wanted to (and should) replace them all due to the other, rare, malfunction fine. You to pay? NO WAY IIRC an forum member that has been absent for a while (Cigarbum) bought 275s and had power tube failures very quickly. Mc overnighted him all new tubes. I visited him during the event.1 point
